We stayed for 4 nights. Dirk and Pam were very helpful, especially with details of local places to visit. Lovely to see the Kangaroos on the lawn. Very good breakfast with Pam's home baked bread and Dirks honey.
We arrived in the early afternoon, knowing nothing about Margaret River or the location of the B&B in relation to the town. It was abt. 10 mins. away, up a short gravel road, in the most peaceful surroundings you can imagine: in the bush Forrest, surrounded by nature everywhere. Warm and instructive welcome, incl. from Bella the resident Labradoodle. Beautiful room with private garden access, top bathroom. After dinner in Margaret River Hotel (very good and not expensive) we had a glass of wine on our terrace and had a visit from Skippy, the resident kangaroo. He (or was it a she?) returned also next morning to keep us company. Received lots of "tourist information" from our host for our onward journey which made the next day a very interesting journey. Should we ever come back to Australia (unlikely, since we in our middle seventies) this would be the place we would be looking for in the Margaret River area. A top stay!!! A short distance from Margaret river, this is a great location set in the natural bush. Dirk and Pam have worked hard to ensure that the natural vegetation and the setting are perfect. Super accommodations, very clean, paintwork is perfect, no chips or careworn rooms. Breakfast is wonderful. Pam is a great baker and all the breads (but one) are hers. Coffee machine delivers really good coffee, but read the instructions. We spend four days here, and enjoyed every moment. Get a chance to look at the books on the area in the book collection. Very interesting collection. For those in spring time - there are southwest orchids in bloom. Rare and very exciting even if you are not a botanist. Check out the chickens, the honey is delicious and right from the B&B, courtesy of Dirk. Go to stay with them, you'll enjoy it immensely.
We stayed for one night end Jan 18. We paid more than we’d wanted to for decent accomodation but on arrival, we were disappointed. No one was there to meet us & check in. We picked up a white envelope & made our way to the room. We didn’t see any member of staff for the duration of our stay from arrival, through to breakfast or our departure. The room was average: hair left in the corner of the toilet; stains on the carpet; & an old pink fluffy blanket on the bed?! The pillows were cheap & made from latex. Both of my husband & I slept badly & had sore necks the next day. Breakfast was poor: self service of cereal & bread, cheap juice & DIY coffee. The tables were left with dirty dishes from previous breakfasts that hadn’t been cleared, even though no one was there. Any time of cooked breakfast was extra - even a boiled egg! So, we checked out not seeing a soul. Very odd. Very overrated. Very overpriced. Low quality at top dog prices. The conclusion is: I could do way better myself!
Absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived Dirk, the owner was so welcoming. He took time to explain all the facilities and showed us the best places to visit during our stay. We got to enjoy a beautiful room with a spa bath and private outdoor area amongst nature. In the morning there was a beautiful buffet breakfast waiting that we got to enjoy outside in the garden. A big thanks to Dirk! Absolute legend!! Will definitely visit again soon!
The location is central to many sights and locations within the Margaret raver region. The rooms were very spacious and had everything you could possibly need. The breakfast in the morning was delicious with the owners home made bread , and a wide selection of items available to put on your youghurt and cereal were all laid out. Highly recommend this place for a day or a week, it is cosy and will feel like home.
Can truly recommend this place. Perfect location if you are staying in the region. Nice and quiet with nature all around. Rooms nice and clear with large bathrooms. Very good breakfast. If you prefer to stay a little outside the ”city” this is a very good option.
This is a lovely BnB. Dirk and Pam are wonderful hosts: they put on a tremendous spread for breakfast, provide rooms with clean, soft beds, and to our children's delight, big spa baths. It's in a natural, peaceful area where you will probably see kangaroos in the morning and possums at night. If not, your children will have fun with their friendly dog. The only place to stay in Margaret River. The Hawksworth family.
The accommodation was clean, idyllic, and well prepared upon our arrival. We stayed there for two nights but would have rather stayed for many more days if not for our busy itinerary. The lounge was very spacious and comfortable with grand ground-to-ceiling windows that offered a view of the patio and garden outside. Coming from a densely populated city, this was an incredibly refreshing change to stay in this tranquil and quiet accommodation surrounded by nothing but the forest. There were bedrooms with full height glass sliding doors that opened out into a well-tended and blooming garden. Given the greenery surrounding the place, the tidy and comfortable rooms and Dirk’s hospitality, staying there was just great! We were pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail paid by Dirk and Pam in preparing breakfast. It was a wholesome and sumptuous spread with a selection of homemade breads, honey from Dirk’s farm, fruits and cereals. The coffee brew was great and there was a wide selection of cooked dishes that could be ordered for a few dollars each. We thoroughly enjoyed having breakfast in the alfresco area. We loved the tranquil environment and would definitely like to come back again. Dirk and Pam are great hosts too!
Very happy with everything. Nice rooms and good sized bathrooms as well. Good tips from owner and helpful in every respect. Not too far from downtown Margaret River nor from the beach, but car needed. Can recommend 100% and will return in future again !
