WOW!!!! Nothing but good things to say about this place! We came down for a family vacation and have stayed in Islamorada in the past but decided to switch it up for something new. And we’re so glad we did! Bayview Inn and Marina is the place to stay in Marathon! The staff were extremely nice and helpful. Our room was very clean! We had a balcony to be able to soak up the keys weather right from our room! We brought a boat and had everything right there so didn’t have to travel for bait, gas, or drinks. We will for sure be back here! Can’t wait to book our next visit here! Thank you so much Bayview Inn and Marina staff for making our stay so incredible!
We’ve never stayed here before, and won’t again. Front desk staff were very nice and helpful, but that’s where the good ended. Typical older/tired keys room, a bit larger than I expected. FILTHY dirty! Flooring hadn’t been washed in I don’t know how long (our feet were black). Old (crystallized) dog pee that had been left on floor (which I wiped up). No handle on shower door. Long dark hair running from top to bottom of “clean” towels in bathroom. Box spring for another room left in hallway so we had to walk around it. No deadbolt on door interior and sliding doors to patio didn’t lock. Dog friendly, but there’s a typically unfriendly aggressive chihuahua on the property. Yikes! I certainly don’t expect top notch for the cost, but I do expect clean.
Check in was easy and the owners were super nice. Room was clean and the pool was bigger than expected. Relaxing place. Exterior was clean and well kept. Would definitely stop again next time on our way to Key West.
Friends came to visit us in the Keys and needed a hotel that accepted dogs so Bay View was chosen. First, they do not clean the rooms or give clean towels in coffee for any more than the first day. When they checked in, the floors were dirty, the fridge and stove were filthy. Beds we're clean aand so was the bathroom. A plus! Staff says this is the Keys way. Not impressed. $260 a night and this was about the cheapest in the keys.
We stayed in the upstairs apartment for several nights of our vacation. Generally, we had a great experience. It's not a chain hotel, and your expectation shouldn't be that it is. Our room was clean and comfortable, although the floor could have used a good clean mopping. Beds were fantastic!!! There isn't daily housekeeping service, so be prepared to take care of yourself a bit like going to the office to get fresh towels. The inn recently changed hands, and the new owners have a team of people trying very hard to improve the rooms and grounds. While we were there, they were painting the exterior of the building, and workers were always polite and considerate. The new owner and his staff asked us several times about things they could improve on, and it sounds like they are on track. We had a great experience renting a jet ski there, and the store is convenient to grab snacks. The staff gave us some excellent recommendations on local restaurants. Overall, it was a great atmosphere and "old Keys" experience - would love to come back when the renovations are done!
We have visited the area many times and did not want to get into the total key west hustle for our entire stay. We had friends that are near here and decided to make this our stay for 5 days since it was pretty central to everything. The place was just like a true key place, older but clean and friendly. The prices were reasonable for this time of year in the keys and it was plenty of good food and drink nearby. Area was pretty quiet except for a few key drunks that may wonder by late. Always felt secure and pool and rooms were extremely clean. Nothing super resort fancy but either was the price.
Bayview Inn is a traditional keys inn/hotel very nice place and a jem on the water. If your into high end or the cookie currier Marriott or the chains then this is not your place. My family and I have been coming to the keys for 20 years and the Bayview is awesome. Great staff and owner. As for John H who stayed his facts are wrong! All beds are new they use a mattress cover that makes the beds look lumpy all beds are less than 3 years old. Yes some light maintenance is lacking but they are working on it. Hurricane damage all they had was a fence blown down and a sign that’s it. My family bought relief supplies to keys a week after Irma hit. John has no clue what he is talking about. Great dog policy also I did watch him let his Fido do it’s business and not pick it up go figure! No phones or alarm clocks well everyone has cell phones now and honestly I work in hospitality and people steal the clocks phones and hair dryers yes they do. The beach they have a private sitting area with great views and the coral is to protect the beach. Also reading older reviews people said a sewer smell well it’s the keys and sea grass is the culprit. The grass gets trapped and decays making a sewer smell. Key West spends 200k a year to scrap it off the beaches. So no sewer issues either lol. This place is awesome and quiet l highly recommend it with the store and light menu for food it’s great for family’s and fishermen’s paradise. Great dock with boat slips and boat ramp. Fuel dock and awesome views. Also on property boat rentals and jet skis along with kayaks and paddle boards. Take it from a family that knows the keys this is a great place :)
We booked a week here based on “Bring Fido” and the BayView website. This was our second choice as our first choice, in Marathon, was full. It is described as Old Keys and it has a certain charm about it and can be quaint and beautiful. Old Keys means no housekeeping, no phones or alarm clocks. Bring your own. You clean your own apartment and beds. If you need towels, etc., you exchange them at the office. However, Old Keys meaning old fashioned and run down is about right for this place. Although our apartment was well appointed with a large refrigerator, stove and coffee maker, it was also kind of shop worn. I could see the signs of the hurricane which passed through the Keys a year ago. The bedding was atrocious. The mattresses were lumpy with actual valleys where you could roll into and hard lumps everywhere. They were in bad need of replacement. Maintenance is non existent. With electrical outlets which don’t work and door locks which need WD40 at least. The shower has mold in it which shows poor housekeeping We were very disappointed at the beach. The website pictures showed a beautiful beach. The pictures must have been stock photos from somewhere else. In reality it is is little more than a sandy patch with beach chairs. The so called beach itself was piled with coral rocks (see pictures). THERE IS NO BEACH!!! At least no access to the water. Again, there is no beach and the pictures on the website are false! One of the main reasons I selected this inn was for the beach and there is no beach. In the evening I spoke to a person, Jay, who was there looking to buy the place. He was an established contractor from North Carolina and we chatted about what was needed. He also said the beach needed to be restored as well as the apartments and grounds. He and his wife seem to be the people to do it. Right now it is owned by a group of women who are struggling to make this resort a going thing. They are very nice and helpful but hotel management is not their forte. I did meet some other people who are regulars here and they seem to enjoy roughing it and overlook the problems. Hopefully, this will all change with new owners. It is a beautiful, charming location which needs some TLC as well as honest description on their website. My advice is to first ask who is the owner and to request some recent pictures of the beach and rooms although I wouldn’t stay there again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Great place to get away from everything. Snorkel right from the room. Lots of fish! Protected from the strong currents that sometimes show up. Nice room, though we didn't spend much time in it. Too nice outside to be inside. Right in the heart of the keys. close to everything. We'll be back!!
Family owned and run with clean rooms. Water front. Nice ramp of concrete with good slope. Dockage at rooms. Pool. Gas grill with tiki area. Right at bridge for diving and fishing. General store and some food items in small restaurant area.
