I was part of the wedding party who moved the reception to this hotel at 20 minutes notice. What started as a potentially disastrous day turned out to be a triumph with the staff of this hotel going above and beyond to make it a memorable day for all the right reasons. Absolutely fabulous venue which was much better than the original. Staff were fantastic in setting the room up so quickly and looking after us all evening. Nothing was too much trouble, every need was catered for, and I can't thank them enough for saving the day. Excellent customer service, highly recommended both as an hotel and as a wedding venue.
Can't rate this hotel highly enough, after a major let down from another local venue (summat to ate ) they put on a wedding reception in minutes!! Unbelievable service and generosity , fantastic thank you
Booked to stay at the Mercure after my daughter's wedding in Leigh and reception in Wigan. Lots of parking available. Large well kept reception area with warm welcome by staff. Full breakfast offered for £8 per person (well worth it) Room was neat and tidy with hairdryer, tv and shower. Due to unforseen circumstances, the original reception fell through at the last minute. Rang the hotel in the hope they could help. They did more than help. In 20 minutes flat they had dressed a function room for us and staffed it all night. I was amazed at their kindness particularly Kevin & Natasha who stayed way later than they should've to look after us. Kevin worked incredibly hard all night. Also John on reception who took care of us after hours. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel and their staff. They absolutely saved the day from disaster. I cannot thank them enough. Book this hotel. They really care about their customers. 150% recommended.
Walked past this reasturant in Wigan and for some reason did a double take. Quick look on TripAdvisor and all reviews looked good. Did not disappoint... Lovely pizza, lovely service. Cheap but good food. For a small place like Wigan, this was a pleasant surprise!
I stayed here in April with my husband, to watch Rugby match. The hotel was very central and not far to walk to the stadium. The room was very clean and the bed was very large and comfortable. The staff were very attentive. I would definitely stay here again.
Stayed here for a night on the way to The Isle Man and a night on the way back on the way back. Two young ladies work very hard . Our cases were quickly brought to our room and they served us both visits for our evening meal. The evening meals were excellent . the breakfast was adequate, full English if required. Our room was clean but as near a main road a little noisy.
Great hotel, great location, great location! Wigan, famous for being described by George Orwell, has a lot more to offer than many people realise. As well as industrial archeology there's great walks and a thriving music scene.
Just stayed here one night and don't think I will return. It isn't the cleanest of hotels, horrible black mould on bath tiles, handrails in restaurant have a thick layer of dust because the cleaners obviously only wipe along the edge. Decor is drab with some hanging off in places. Breakfast was ok, no fresh fruit and brown or white bread, no other options.
Just returned from a weekend here .... What can I say from the minute we checked in we where we'll taken care of.... Asked for a room at the back of the hotel due to reading reviews .... Wasn't a problem. Had a wonderful meal here Friday night best we have had in a long time ... Very tasty reasonable prices 3 courses with upgrades and a bottle of prosecco. The chef defiantly knows his food .... The 2 young girls on Friday night waiting on and the dark haired one behind the bar are a credit to the hotel full of smiles and made us feel very welcome. I wouldn't hesitate in staying here again. Well done all you made our weekend thank you X
Arrived here as a night stop over, on way to Isle of Man. Staff on arrival unloaded coach quickly and promptly. Room was excellent with twin large beds, good decor and a lovely bathroom and according to my husband a great shower. Bed gave a comfortable good nights sleep. Evening meal was excellent, and service prompt. Breakfast was not so good. A buffet, cold plates and luke warm bacon etc. Bread was cheap/basic, and still frozen. Croissants stale. Hotel is a short walk to the main shopping area of Wigan, and Tesco extra is not far, there is also Mac Donald's around the corner. It is situated near very busy main road, that runs to hospital. So lots of noise during day and early evening, but double glazing kept it quiet during the night.
