My stay at the Mecure Wigan was great, from the warm welcome i was given from the lady on reception to the two waitresses, named Jade & Leonie who served me my evening meal who were very freindly and chatty, allways happy to help and the food was very tasty. My room was very comfortable and the wifi good, parking is ample and the location is ideal for the town centre, a nice hotel complimented by its freindly & helpful staff :)

Nice room & very good value food with good portions in restaurant. Nice relaxing atmosphere in bar area. stair ways a bit tatty. Staff very efficient & helpful especially in the restaurant. Nice large car park. Internet good too

Good value for money. Room was fine, clean and modern. The staff were friendly. Easy check in and out and convenient for the town centre. We didn't spend much time in the hotel but it was ideal for getting out and about

Hello all, I do not recommend this hotel. We arrived very late about 12 am and we had to wait 1 h to get out room. So we were very tired. No compensation or upgrade been offered even when we asked for it. The breakfast was not included . Only cash is accepted. We were tired and hungry and luckily had some cash so we took breakfast but was bad quality. Even though I had presented my hotel membership card point have not been couted. Only positive point is the location not far from the center. Enjoy your stay in Wigan.

Having been sent here by another Mercure hotel that was overbooked, we entered the car park for a total of 11 minutes. Once in the car park and upon realising that the hotel was a city centre, lower grading and >20 minutes from where we needed to be, we decided to make other arrangements. My partner went into the hotel to advise them and ask them to open the gates (manually) for us. Can you imagine my horror at receiving a parking notice for "insufficient paid time"! I rang the hotel and despite the manager confirming that although they are the only ones who can enter peoples car details into the system to prevent them from getting a ticket there is nothing that they will do! Simply criminal that they decided not to enter our reg no. at the time and to shrug their shoulders. Exactly the same treatment from the Mercure Haydock re overbooking our 2 night stay for a wedding and not advising until we arrived at 10.30pm that they had no rooms. Mercure, your customer service needs improving drastically.

Being a Wedding Photographer I had a really good experience of this venue. From the reception to the bar staff to the management, they were all friendly. A big shout out to Jade and Natasha from the bar who were helpful and friendly. Thanks again.

Stayed here before taking part in a endurance race so sleep and rest was a important factor, I wasn't disappointed. The the check in was easy polite and friendly and the rooms were immaculate. Went for evening meal arround 8 o'clock and again the food was great. Over all 100% satisfied with my stay and will defiantly be looking to say again next year. Thanks to all the staff. 😁

I’m a little shocked to find I had not already reviewed this hotel considering the number of times we have stayed here. In short it is for us the best hotel in central Wigan, which is not as big a compliment as it should be as there are actually not that many. However, even if there were dozens this hotel would rate highly. The hotel is located just two minutes from the main shopping areas, with easy access to shops, restaurants and bars. Within 10 minutes’ walk there are good Thai, Indian, Italian places to eat, a selection of bars, and shopping.. For football fans, you can walk to the DW in 30 minutes and Wigan Little Theatre is about one minute if you walk slowly. We regularly stay over on our visits to the DW as it convenient for everything and offers really good value. The hotel also has a restaurant, although we’ve only ever had breakfast in it, a small bar and caters to weddings and meetings using the space it has. One area, a glass conservatory, is very pleasant and suitable for many different events. We held my father’s wake in there last year and the support from the staff during the process was exceptional. Rooms are decent sizes with large beds we always get a good sleep on, chair, table and work area. Bathrooms are reasonable size but have the step in bath/shower that I really do not like. Hopefully one day this will change. All are clean and well maintained. Great factor for us is the staff, who remember you and make it feel like coming home when you get there. Always warm and friendly they are a credit to the brand. Wifi is variable - lower numbered rooms seem to have better reception than higher numbers. I did a little testing to confirm it so if you are working from your room for any reason best to get a lower numbered one. There are firedoors between the lifts and the rooms so noise should not be an issue.

This is a fairly local hotel so we have no experience of staying here, but we have enjoyed a pre-theatre meal on three occasions in the past couple of months. The food is excellent and very good value and the service is good. Also if you have booked a meal you are entitled to free parking while you enjoy an evening at Wigan Little Theatre, a couple of minutes walk away.

Very nice hotel and good value. Rooms very good with good beds. Shower/tub combo with no curtain so the floor is slightly flooded after your shower. Asked for a room facing away from the road and got a room facing the back. There is no aircondition in the room and the window can open, but unfortunately there is a lot of noise coming from a large machine in the parking place (from early morning to around 10PM), so I had to close the window. Excellent service from staff in the reception and in the restaurant. Very service minded and friendly. The food in the restaurant is very average and not very tasty, but again the service was excellent.
