We spent a night at Les Terasses Poulard in March, 2018. The location is incredible, the atmosphere amazing. Even if we stayed in a medieval town, the hotel was modern and had all that we expected. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious (we stayed in room 114). The only little problems we had were that the faucet in the bathroom was not tight enough and was moving and the TV remote control was out of battery and we couldn't change the channels or adjust the volume. Also the cap was screwed in so we couldn't open it. I guess we could have notified the staff but it didn't pass our mind... I read reviews complaining about the noise in the morning from delivery carts, but you have to understand that it's difficult to bring modern machinery in a medieval town. The streets are very narrow and it's difficult to move around with the cart. (Actually the cart itself was not the one making noise, but the crates loaded on the forklift). It didn't bother us at all since we got up early anyway to catch the sunrise. And for all the people out there complaining about the hotel: it's a unique experience to stay in a town dating from the Crusades and sample life of few centuries ago. The hotel is up-to-date with all amenities + an incredible location. If you don't like it, maybe you should've gone to Las Vegas.
This is a great hotel right inside the walls of Mont St Michel, It’s very close to the entrance, at the very bottom, but everything is walking distance. Internet speed was quite fast. I always check prices on hotels.com to compare to the price the receptionist gives me. I had checked and hotels.com had a price of around $124 with tax (in Jan). The lady at the front desk gave me a price of around $300, but when I showed her my phone with the quote from hotels.com, she was kind enough to give me the same rate. Keep in mind you now have to leave your car in a parking lot about 2km away. So if you plan to stay the night, take a light backpack with you, and leave the rest in the car.
We stayed in this hotel during our visit of Mont Saint Michel The room was good, clean and comfort. Location ia prefect if you come for the Mont Siant Michel, its right at the Grand Rue, where all the shops and restaurant located. The restaurant staff seems unfriendly to us, she claimed the restaurant was closed while we entered while there were other customers having drinks inside.
Amazing Island. We arrived a couple of hours early to check in and the room wasn't ready. "Fair enough" we thought as we trotted off to see the island. Came back bang on time. Room still not ready. Bit annoying and the staff were exceptionally stoney faced and quiet. Toom a seat by the recption which was quieter than a library until after about 30-40 mins we were called. Staff member took us to to the annex building up the steps. The room was exceptionally clean so well worth the wait! Really nice place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone. It was about 75 pounds a night in January so a bargain really. We didn't try the food as the prices were extorionate. We chose to go to the supermarket on the mainland prior to arriving abd buy bread and cheese for breakfast (fridge in room) and this saved us the near 20euro breakfast fee (each!!!) Would stay here again if revisited the island as it's a great base with a super clean, safe and comfortable room. Staff could cheer up a bit and they need to offer a sensible food option instead of ripping people off. But then again you have to expect that on the island! This is probably one of the better places to stay for value for money and exploring the island at night with no-one around apart from the few cats we saw was well well worth it!
I recall going here long time ago when it was a fish restaurant and enjoyed so walked straight in without checking menu outside. WOW was I in for a shock - the staff should be in Muc Burger place or serving prison food.... The food was terrible - childrens menu was pasta with ham which was very dry pasta with a rolled up piece on top - no sauce etc . The waitress WOW - Lurch from Adams family had more charm!!!!! NEVER go here - its a total rip off and the food is CANTEEN quality!!!
Overall very good stay! Staff very friendly, and special recommendation to Amandine who was super helpful throughout. Take the sea view if you can, we had room 302 which i recommend. View on the bay. Clean rooms, not big but had the charm you would look for on a stay at the Mont Saint Michel. Not quiet during the day but in the evening its calm and quiet. I would definitely recommended to stay at the Terrasses mere Poulard!
I was supposed to stay at the hotel Mouton Blanc. We arrived at Mount St. Michel very late because our air travel to Paris had been re-routed to go through London rather than the original non-stop flight. I contacted the hotel 3 different times to apprise them of our situation. I was told there was no problem and that someone would be at the front desk 24 hours. We were exhausted by the time we arrived. At no time did anyone either verbally or via e-mail notify us of the after hours check in procedure which required us to climb stairs and check in at an office not at all in the hotel that we booked. When we finally figured it out, we were told that the Mouton Blanc hotel was closed and that we would be staying at the Les Terrasses Poulard hotel. The person at the hotel check in desk seemed extremely put out that he had to check us in at 10:00 PM. We had to climb numerous steps to reach our room which was in a separate building from the one where we had to check in and was not clearly marked as a hotel buildng. After we finally located the room, it was extremely small and did not at all resemble the pictures of the rooms I'd booked at Mouton Blanc. In addition, there was no working internet or cable, there was a coffee maker but no coffee and finally no phone in the room to call for assistance. When we checked out, we were told that several weeks ago a storm had knocked out the internet and cable. We were never notified that these amenities were inoperable nor was any compensation provided for the lack thereof, even though I specifically asked. I would never stay here again nor recommend it to anyone. I would stay at one of the hotels along the path of the shuttle and not on the island itself. They are newer and have food options available.
Spent one night at the Les Terrasses Poulard hotel on Mont St-Michel. Upon checking in, I was thrilled to see my room # was 114 thinking it was on the first floor. Psych! 114 is the very last room on the topmost floor. We packed very light and carried everything in backpacks so it was manageable climbing up to the 3rd floor (no lift). The room was nice and looked recently remodeled. I loved that we stayed on the island because after dinner, we continued to roam around the island which was practically deserted at that time of night. The room we got was small but we weren’t in it much so it was a reasonable trade off for the great location. If you pack light, preferably in backpacks, and can walk up 3 floors, I would recommend this hotel. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Meat was overcooked, half warm, tough and not tasty. They also forgot an order. And very unfriendly, asking questions about Where her order was git ignored. Starter dish was also not warm enough. Do not eat here
In the lobby we met Amandine the receptionist, who really helped us despite a reservation which was not showing on her computer system. Thanks Amandine!!! She even put us in a nice suite, how wonderful! We'd have had a magical time on Mont Saint Michel if it was not for the AWFUL noise of an obsolete handling vehicle. Starting at 4 am, the rusty little cart went back and forth in the paved streets to deliver goods on the island... No way we could sleep through that super loud noise, it kinda ruined the whole experience. Please, update the evil machine at all cost!!
