Rubbish hotel, really got let down by this place, over priced for what you get, food wasn't all that great but I did enjoy breakfast (on the days I made it) Swimming pool always cold Beach is lovely Rooms are rather outdated and don't have air con so when staying an it's in its 30's it an issue Stayed here 10 days, was ready to go home after 6 The little town is rather touristy and sells roughly the same stuff but the alcohol is cheap and that's what a Brit abroad likes! All in all, unless you're willing to part with far to much money, then don't go here, as I spent more in restaurants in town then I should have done.
Reviewing this a bit late but have to review this place... I stayed here for a week in early September with two friends and was absolutely blown away by this lovely hotel which is set in beautiful grounds and on the beach. We’re all in our mid-20s and were looking for a cheap hotel where we could both chill by the pool/beach in the sun but would also have activities we could do. I’ve stayed in fancier hotels, but never stayed somewhere that was this amazing value (£460 all inclusive 31Aug-7Sep including flights and transfers from Cardiff with Thompson) and on many counts, you essentially get a four star hotel for a three star price. Would go again! PROS - Loved the landscape of the resort with chalets rather than tower blocks - it was so peaceful and there were lots of grounds to sunbathe in or have a game of badminton. I had worried beforehand our standard room would be too small for three people but while not huge, it was totally fine (if you were a couple you’d have tonnes of space). I was also worried about the lack of air con as it was still rather hot when we arrived, but most the time we didn’t even need to have the ceiling fan on. We had a chalet in the 120s and it was a 10-15 minute walk to the restaurant/pool - fine for us. - The beachfront location was amazing - the water was calm and super clear, loads of fish but no jellyfish and soft sand. The beach wasn’t too crowded either as it’s really only this hotel that has access to that beach (there’s another bigger one if you walk over the headland or swim round). - Great big pool, with plenty of shade on the grassy areas as well as sunny areas to sunbathe. - Amazing activities staff - I did Pilates every morning and loved Aqua Gym (the pool was always full for that)! Also tried Zumba and Aqua Boxing. We had a go at mini golf and table tennis too (didn’t make it up to the main tennis courts sadly but they looked good) The evening shows weren’t amazing but were funny if you gave them a chance. - Good range of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner for meat eaters and kids - alongside the regular buffet foods (pizza, pasta, fish, chips, soups, risotto), there was always a few rotating dishes every day - I had some nice seafood while there including prawns and calamari. Always a good range of cakes too! I was also amazed by the array of vegetables and salad options on offer - I’ve stayed at five star hotels with less vegetable choice! - 20 minutes walk from the nearest (albeit touristy) town over the headland (easy but a bit rocky to walk in daytime) but there’s also a train that picks people up from the hotel every half hour. The location in general was good - 1 hour from the airport, it’s a fairly quiet area, not a party resort - good for families. - Drinks - good choice of about 10 cocktails I think. Excellent pina colada. We also were big kids and had slurpees by the pool! - Good safe in room, good bathroom. NEUTRAL - No wifi in rooms. I personally think this was excellent as it meant my friends weren’t glued to their phones the whole trip (there was wifi by the pool and in the restaurant) but I know this would really bother some people. CONS -While there are several vegetarian options at all meals, these tend to stay pretty much the same (one pizza, one pasta, one soup, risotto if you’re lucky). It would be great if the restaurant could have one or two daily changing vegetarian specials - my vegetarian friend found the lack of variety rather frustrating. However, I still think on the whole the food options exceeded my expectations of a 3.5 star hotel. - We didn’t need air con but I imagine if you stayed in mid August you would. - No hairdryer in room. - While the evening entertainment was great for kids, it would be great if there could have been a small disco or something similar. After all the free cocktails, we wanted to dance!
I booked last minute to stay at club hotel tropicana , what can I say what an amazing week I had. I stayed the last week of the season. I was a bit worried about the layout of the hotel, I'd read that they were chalets and I was a female traveling alone. My worries were quashed as soon as I checked it , I was told by the lady in the reception that I had been put into chalet 82, as I was on my own, so I was quite close to the main building. The rooms were quite dated , but were cleaned to a high standard every day. The hotel has now closed for refurbishment. The hotel is right on the beach as stated on the description, the snack bar is ideally set overlooking the lovely cove. You can enjoy all of your all inclusive package there with a great view of the sea. The food was always good, I am a fussy eater, but always found something to eat. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar staff were always up for a bit of banter. Not sure where to start with the entertainment team, what a fantastic team. They all work so hard even though it was the end of the season they were still full of energy. There were daytime activities, ie riffle shooting, darts , volleyball, shuffle board, archery, stretching, the list goes on they work so hard getting people involved. There is also kids activities but as I went end of season and without children I can't comment on that. THE ENTERTAINMENT TEAM well the words to use are absolutely fantastic, so hard working and so so funny. Who could forget Miguels catchphrase YEAH MAN, and IT OK IT'S ALL INCLUSIVE lol. I've not laughed this much in such a long time. Miguel is main man ,he works so hard organising the entertainment team, the evening shows are so well planned , everyone enjoyed them so much, never heard a bad word said about them. Miguel speaks so many languages, all nationality would never feel left out , by not knowing what was going on. Well done Miguel by involving everyone, and making their holiday experience great. The evenings shows were so funny , the team worked very well together , and kept us all laughing. I will never forget this great bunch, Miguel , Mykey (Mr Spaghetti )and Edward. What a great time I had . Thank you so so much. As I said before the hotel is being refurbished during the winter , let's hope it gets modernise but the atmosphere stays the same. Would love to catch up with Miguel and his team again sometime, you made my holiday into a fantastic fun filled break, I thank you . The hotel is in lovely grounds and is in an ideal setting for just relaxing and taking in the sun. Do as much or as little as you want.
For the time of the year we was very lucky end of season some rain but hey what do you expect. We was in room 50 felt damp at times missed the wifi by 20ft unlucky a but wifi was free. Rooms noisy due to wall thickness food was ok catered for nationalities which cant be easy always something to eat. Help ya self to coffee cold drinks and slush's for the kids. Entertainment second to none did a great job all day and night they need a pay rise. This holiday is not for people with walking difficulties as some rooms are a long way from reception. Nice place but unfortunately hi di hi campers not for us.
Just returned from a week here. It actually was closing for the winter on the day we left. I travelled with my sister and we had an amazing time. The animation team are hilarious. I laughed every day of the week. I wasn't so keen on some of the food but it was ok. If you didn't like the hot food on offer there was a beautiful salad bar. Lovely staff working there and when they get to know you they are like friends.! I would definitely go back again.
- Ants in the room! The cleaning lady sprayed daily with a spray against insects, which left unpleasant and toxic smell. - Shabby bathroom, water taps covered with dirt (see photos). - The public toilets are smelly and untidy. The toilet seats are dirty and sticky, covered with urine rests (see photos). - The baby changing room consists of one dirty table (see photo). - The tablecloths in restaurant are often covered with spots (see photo). The service counters are mostly greasy. The dishes are often with broken edges (see photos). - Lounge bar is also unclean - look at the pictures how the terrasse tables and service counter look like. Urine smell at the terrace in the corner. - The beach is worth special attention. Cigarettes, plastic glasses, paper, bottles are lying in the sand. Rescue service on the beach we have not seen even once. - Late music noise. - Meals are mostly "ready-to-use" meals, e.g. the ready-made meatballs from the supermarket, which are simply being warmed up, Soluble coffee and juices from powder.
Good staff, had to pay for 20 euros for WiFi which only worked in certain places.our room was 203 N out of range. So waste of time. Also charges for sunloungers on beach. Nice chill out holiday if you want to lounge around a pool or beach not much more around really. Not for us so sorry won't be back.
This is probably the best holiday I've ever been. Great location, delicious food and fantastic entertainment team couldn't ask for anything more. Entertainment team work really hard to keep everyone involved, Ya man.. you know who you are just keep doing what you are doing. Sam
Me and my fiancé have just come back from here and had a lovely time. We went away as a last minute thing and after reading some of the reviews I didn't know what to expect but we thought the place was fine. Firstly this place is a 3 star and please remember that when booking. Food was great and always something to eat, rooms were clean and basic and we had cleaners every day we were here. The pool area is lovely and the pool is a great size. The beach and sea is as shown on the pictures, water is so clear! The one thing I will mention is that it is not a hotel as such, it is more like little chalets dotted around the resort so there is a little walking however they do have a little 7 seater that drives around all day which will take you to your room. Staff were great, always polite and friendly and help as much as they can. The only thing I can say is that there was a lot of French and German whist we were here who I found to be quite rude, not as many English as expected. Other than that we had a nice time together and I hope this helps anybody going here. Don't listen to the bad reviews, this place was lovely!
I have just come back from a week's stay at the Club Hotel Tropicals. This was my first all inclusive holiday and wasn't sure what to expect. On arrival the receptionist was polite checked us in and gave us the room key. We took the minibus up the road to our room which was no 45. The beds are very uncomfortable and it took a couple off days to get used to it. The shower takes a little getting used to as the water force sends it up in the air and all around the shower. You can't fault the food as you have lots of different choices for breakfast if you wish cooked items you can have these if you want more of a continental style then there is that choice and there is even fruit. You can go into the restaurant for lunch or if you just fancy a snack then you can go to the snack bar which gives you the choice of pizza, burgers, sausages chips and fruit. Evening meal is served in the restaurant between 18.30 to 21.00 there is a choice of different meats, fish and pasta. You can help yourself to drinks wine, beer and soft drinks. There is activities during the day like archery, shooting, volleyball, stretching, aquafit, ping pong, tennis, bingo, the activities staff come round the pool and shout out what activity it is then they take your name and you follow the member of staff to the area. There isn't much to do but sit and relax. We did try and go on the ting ting train but unfortunately the day we went on this train we got dropped off in the next resort had a look around the shops but the train didn't come back for us and we had to get a taxi back which cost about 7 euros back to the hotel. If you have mobility problems then this resort isn't for you as there is a lot of walking and it's mostly up hill and there are steps upto the rooms.
