We stayed for 4 nights at the end of January, having booked a really good deal - our review reflects this. Our flight arrived very early and our room was still occupied by previous guests. One of the friendly receptionists tried her best to get our room prepared by housekeeping, so we went for a walk and early lunch and came back to the hotel. Staff were all very friendly and we received a warm welcome. Our room was more spacious than expected for a Classic room and we had a terrace/balcony although it was a bit cool to sit outside. Housekeeping was great and the room was well designed - plenty of sockets everywhere which is a nice change! Breakfast offered plenty of choice, with eggs cooked to order. We ate in the Asian restaurant on our first night and the food was really good. The roof terrace would be lovely in a good weather and super views to Valletta. As others have mentioned, the Hotel is joined on floors 7 and 9 to The Palace Hotel - the only difference we could see was diffent doors and carpet partway along the corridor. The Hotel is a short walk downhill to the Valletta ferry and a longer but enjoyable walk to St Julians. We enjoyed exploring and walked miles everyday so didn’t use the indoor pool but this looked lovely. The Hotel offered an amazing deal and we really enjoyed our stay and trips to beautiful Valletta too.
Friendly staff Excellent buffet food and a great variety. Very central for the sea and ferry. The rooms were quiet and clean. the shop was well stocked and souvenirs no dearer than those on sale elsewhere
Fairly 'grand' hotel in the busy spot of Sliema in Malta. Great location - just a short walk to the quayside, and a longer walk to St Julian's, the next town along, for even more food, drink, and entertainment. The hotel entrance and reception area is quite upmarket in a fairly classic way - not particularly modern, more colonial in feel. The receptionists were extremely helpful and efficient any time we needed to interact with them - no complaints at all there - and we never had to wait too long to speak to anyone. We were told on arrival that we'd been upgraded, which was nice! We also received a bottle of wine and some traditional biscuits, which were very much appreciated. Aside from the location and the professionalism of the staff, the best part of this hotel I'd say is the rooftop area / pool (which I believe they share with another hotel, but it was quiet when were there). The high panoramic views stretch across the town to the coast, and it is absolutely stunning. Secondly, the spa area is fantastic. The heated indoor pool is a perfect place to relax, and the surrounding area is nicely put together too, with a few sun loungers. I think there was a sauna and steam room there too, along with scented showers. I had some treatments at the spa and they were wonderful - the staff were all extremely friendly and professional, and the treatments themselves were perfect. I'd say where this hotel was ever-so-slightly let down was in the room - it was fine, no real complaints as such - but maybe a little basic compared to the look and feel of the rest of the building. The balcony was tiny (just the nature of the area, I think) and just looked into the building opposite, although I'm sure higher rooms probably have nice views. We also found that the safe wasn't large enough to house my laptop, which wasn't ideal, so we had to check this in with reception. We had breakfast at the hotel one morning - fixed price per person and then a buffet - and I'm not sure it was worth it. We found other breakfast options elsewhere which were far nicer and better value for money. Aside from those tiny points, we really enjoyed our stay, and would visit again for the rooftop alone!
Stayed here with my boyfriend B&B for 4 nights. Staff were very friendly and polite. The room was so spacious and clean and the bed very comfortable! We had requested a double bed but our room had 2 large singles but when we complained, they put them together with a large sheet over so it was fine. The bathroom was lovely and big and modern with funky black and white tiles.Everything in the room was replenished everyday. We were in the classic room so there was no spectacular view but we were out most of the time so it didn't bother us. The only slight downside was the room did get unusually hot and stuffy so we kept the balcony door open to let some fresh air in as we were on 5th floor. It was too cold to use the infinity pool but the rooftop gives some amazing views and would be very nice to relax there in summer. Good choice of food at breakfast time and no problem getting a seat any time. We went to the TemptAsian restaurant in the Palace hotel for an evening meal and it was lovely... great views and very nice romantic place. The hotel is a short walk downhill to the main ferry terminals and some restaurants. If we ever come back to Sliema we would definitely stay in this hotel again!!
Our first visit to the Sliema area and quite impressed. Hotel Victoria is in a quiet street, a short downhill walk to the Ferry terminal (various boat cruises as well as the Ferry across to Valetta which takes just 10mins). It’s also within walking distance to the shopping district and The Point Shopping Mall. You can also walk around the Bay to St Julian’s and if you’re feeling lucky on to the Casino. (Took about 30mins leisurely walk). The staff at the hotel are wonderful; very helpful and attentive. A warm check in on arrival. Our room was on the 5th floor and had a small balcony. Good size room with everything you’d expect. A welcome extra was the mini fridge which you can request to be filled or you can have for personal use. Despite it being February and not very warm I did find our room quite uncomfortable/stuffy. The hotel were excellent in sourcing a large fan and having it bought to my room in minutes. Thank you. We had HB. Both meals are buffet affairs. Food and choice is plentiful. However in hindsight I would have chosen breakfast only as there are other restaurants within the hotel which offer tempting menus. Hazeline in the dining room deserves a special mention; ALWAYS a smile from her. There’s a lovely Bar; The Penny Black. Yet again a fabulous welcome from Arnold. Great cocktails! There’s a small shop with a range of souvenirs and weekly bus tickets can also be purchased here. Beautiful indoor pool area and an amazing Spa. Treat yourself to a treatment; the Swedish Welcome Package was wonderful. Really enjoyed our short stay at the Victoria.
Just completing a weeks holiday here . Hotel spotless .nice rooms and friendly staff it deserves its reputation as a 41/2 star ( 4 star really ). Food has been buffet very nice ( different theme each night ) with a good cold selection and the deserts excellent . It’s just as well it’s on a steep hill down to selima the walks have worn the extra desserts I have eaten off . I love Malta and particularly selima and this hotel hasn’t disappointed 😀
The hotel is absolutely lovely , very clean , modern, very spacious rooms and wonderful freindly staff. The position of the hotel is about 5 minutes walk to the sea front. We stayed 3 nights , the room was very spacious with a large shower room and separate cloakroom/ changing area . Tea and coffee making facilities are in the room . The hotel has its own Pub/bar , a gift shop , 2 restaurants and is connected to its sister hotel The Palace which has more shops , cafe . We didn’t use the spa or gym because we were sightseeing all the time . We did have the breakfast which was fantastic, with a personal chef to cook anything you fancied like omelettes etc. We will definitely come back and stay here again .
We have just returned from this hotel. We were given a very warm welcome by the Reception staff but all the staff were friendly and very helpful. We didn't use the indoor pool but it looked lovely and there were plenty of sun loungers. There were some good deals if you wanted to eat at the hotel in the evening. Hotel's WIFI was excellent both in Reception and in our room. Our room was spacious and very clean. There is a free safe in the room. The hotel is on a hill but you can find routes into the Ferry and shops that aren't as steep. Will definitely return!
I stayed here for two weeks in a huge room with a north-facing balcony. The description below shows the Victoria to be a good well-staffed and maintained hotel. But what puts it head and shoulder above most is that it is so comfortable - a difficult quality to quantify. I felt the hotel adapted to me, rather than me having to adapt to the hotel. I felt welcome from the moment I arrived. I enjoyed my meals and drinks. I had a couple of days feeling unwell and was quite happy to stay in my room. The restaurant staff were helpful and friendly, without pestering. The reception staff were universally warm, friendly and helpful. The hotel has been recently refurbished to a pretty good standard. My room was large with plenty of storage, and well furnished. The safe is easy to use but is not large enough for a laptop. The TV provides a bewildering variety of channels, including a good range of English language news, entertainment and documentary channels. The bed is comfortable bed and plenty of pillows. There's a fridge and a kettle for tea and coffee. The plugs are either UK 13 amp, or universal (something I'm wary of as they can compromise safety) there are no USB charging points. Light levels are good, and flexible. Housekeeping were excellent. The bathroom is well appointed with a fixed and a hand shower over the bath. The shower doesn't surprise with sudden temperature changes. The toiletries are good, though basic (soap, body wash and shampoo/conditioner) Hairdryer, mirrors I was staying half board. Both breakfast and supper were buffet, and better than many, with a good range of choices and themes for supper (Greek, Italian etc). There's a omelette bar for breakfast and a couple of tea/coffee machines (but no herbal teas) The decor is mock-Victorian (remember the name) so there's a lot of brown, especially in the bar and there's the statutory souvenir shop, sauna and a couple of rooftop pools. It's a short downhill walk to ferries and buses - and that's the only fly in the ointment: it's a steep walk uphill after busy day's sightseeing. I have some mobility impairment and whether I return depends on how well my knee and ankle fare in the next twelve months. But if they don't get worse, I'll be back.
Stayed here over Christmas period, and had a wonderful visit. Hotel staff were all helpful and friendly from the front desk to housekeeping. We were on 7th floor which was ideal as next to the gym and the indoor pool, also you just had to walk down the corridor and you are actually in The Palace Hotel which has the outdoor roof-top pool and a fantastic Asian restaurant with amazing views over Malta. Location was ideal for us, only a short walk to the sea front, ferries etc, and next door to the hospital. Our standard room was a good size, everything you could need, bathrobes and slippers a nice touch, and the large bed was very comfy. Would certainly stay here again, and recommend it highly. Thanks to all the lovely staff for making our stay wonderful.
