stayed here from 19th July for 4 nights as an anniversary surprise. The big complaint about this place is being woken up at 2.00am onwards by noisy students intent on coming back from wherever they have been and slamming doors and moving furniture around, not happy. Having said that the room we had was big and spacious, air-con was very good, we had a balcony and brilliant sea view. The rooftop pool was good and it had a bar as well. The hotel is in an excellent location as the sea is opposite and there are bars, shops and restaurants to the left and right. St Julian's is just up the road out the hotel and do a left and is beautiful. I have family here so it was nice to see them again and will visit Malta again soon because it is a beautiful country but not sure if I will stay at this hotel. Food and drink wherever you go is always very good and so was the weather. Wadsworth, Yateley, England
Arrived early, could leave cases in locked room.Reception welcoming. Upgraded to superior sea view. Room 620 beautiful views. Spacious, clean small balcony. Tea coffee making and fridge. Roof top bar reasonable prices. Food well presented, good variety spoilt for choice. Bus stops by hotel doors. Housekeeping friendly, all staff happy and helpful. Lots of effort students but no problems. With fi in lobby a little slow best by lifts.
Great welcome on the 1st day of our vacation in Malta. Nice receptionist who explained everything about the hotel facilities. I have booked an triple room and received room 518. We were suprised by walking in, because the room was really nice! I saw some pictures and I read some reviews before arriving, but it was none of it. The room was refurbished. I also asked for a high level room (because of the noise outside the hotel) and I received it too. When we opened the curtains we were even more suprised.. the view was unbelievable beautiful! We have enjoyed the hotel, and room, during our stay. We booked without breakfast and we made the choice to have breakfast sometimes. The only thing was that they have to be more strict in the breakfast area. The employees over there don't check your room number at all. Btw, the swimmingpool is a great option to cool down but not for spending there a whole day. Furthermore, the hotel is very well located and everything is close by. The only thing which was really annoying, was the Wi-Fi. You can only use free Wi-Fi in the lobby, not on the room. They asked crazy prices for any Wi-Fi use during your stay. Luckily there was free Wi-Fi from a restaurant in the near on the Balcony. When you do not want to pay too much, this hotel is a great choice!
Spent one night here en route to the airport after a week in Gozo. For the money - €40 - I thought it was excellent value. Large, clean and comfortable room with great air con, nice bathroom, fridge, tea and coffee and very comfy bed; balcony directly overlooking the sea; friendly and helpful staff. The only downsides were the charge for wifi in your room (I didn't bother) and the somewhat cramped sun deck by the (very clean) pool - too many sun beds and not enough space. Other than that, I was very satisfied. The hotel is right next to very pleasant gardens and the main promenade, and five minutes' stroll from swimming areas. It's noisy outside - very busy traffic - but the double glazing is good. From the hotel, it's about a ten-minute walk through Sliema's old and picturesque residential area to the shops and ferry to Valletta. Enjoy!
This hotel is split into two buildings across the road from each other. Each has it's own reception area. On arrival a member of our party went into one reception to find out which half of the hotel we were in rather than all of us lugging our suitcases up the steps (we had asked for 2 rooms together). Having identified which half of the hotel we were in we proceeded to take all our bags up the steps. The receptionist started the checkin progress and we were told we were going to be in room 333. Our other party members were then told they were going to be in room 420 which is in the other building and they need to checkin there. We informed the receptionist that we had asked for rooms close to each other and she said sorry there was nothing she could do. So our other party members proceeded over to the other building. Our checkin process then continued, We were handed the pre-filled guest registration card to sign. The details were wrong, My surname was in the forename field and the name in surname field was a close match to that of my good misses. We questioned this and said have you got the right booking to be told yes definitely and to just correct the card. She then said we have you in as half board, nope we were in for B&B only. Again we asked have you got the right booking, the reply again was yes. We were then told you are checking out 22nd, nope 19th. For the 3rd time we asked if she was looking at the right booking. Turns out it was the wrong booking, she found ours, we were going to be in room 419 (next to our parties room in the other building). Not the greatest of starts. We finally checked in and went up to our room. The room was an ok size for 2 people, clean and tidy, Small fridge and air conditioning. The view was fantastic right over the bay. (when booking ask for a high floor number as the road runs right by the front of the hotel). Breakfast was buffet style with a large choice of hot and cold food, so something for everyone. It does get busy so it's worth going for breakfast early. Housekeeping who clean the rooms were very friendly. It is worth noting that the rooms are cleaned in the morning (some times while you are at breakfast) but they don't leave any towels, they are delivered later in the day so you could find yourself a bit stuck. About 5 days into our stay the key cards stopped working on our rooms (thats 5 keys across 2 rooms). The first time they all (5 of them) stopped at the same time. reception asked if we had left them by the phones as this could be the cause. We had not, they reprogrammed them. The day before we were due to check out the keys to our other party members room stopped working in the morning, ours stopped working in the afternoon. They had expired. Think they should be valid for the entire stay. On the day of checkout we were sitting in reception for an hour or so waiting for our transfer to the airport and noticed that there was no end of people coming in saying that the room keys had stopped working (looks like they have an issue with the system). Now don't get me wrong the hotel itself is good, clean and tidy and perfectly situated, It is some of the staff that let it down on this occasion.
Very nice hotel, small room but functional. With Air Conditioning, which was a god send. Location is very good for St Julians, but not so great for Sliema. Breakfast was repetative but did the job. Beds were comfortable enough. But the view from room 625 was absolutely stunning.Roof top pool small but again great to cool off in. Friendly helpful staff. Bus stop outside the hotel, which we used everyday. 2euro for a ticket which lasts for 2 hours. Great value. Peppis opposite was very good for meals and snacks as were the 2 Italian restaurants at the hotel. I would stay here again
Weekend att this hotel became unpleasant because of hotel management: nobody listened what we had to say, the staff did not know about entertaiment in the evenings, brekfast was not good enough. The deposit of bath towel was a rent because we did not get all money back. The room was clean and the view was nice. But the impression was destroyed by bad attityde from hotel management who was not willing att all to change something to the better. Dissapointed guests from Sweden
The Hotel is in the middle between sliema and st julians , the hotel public areas and the room that we stayed in were very clean and well maintained but a little small in particular the bathroom, the staff were very friendly in the main, the roof pool got a bit congested , the roof terrace and bar were good and had entertainment on each night from 8.30, we stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfasts were ok! but not superb. the public bus service is a very good way to travel around and is very regular, the main road at the front of the hotel is very busy but there is a crossing 50yds from the entrance.
Stayed in the plaza nice clean hotel paid extra for superior room with sea view was impressed, large room with large bathroom shower and shower over bath, view over bay was amazing both day and night. Advise eating out as food in restaurant not that good , too slow refilling food trays once empty also deserts took forever to be replaced. Reception staff could be more helpful and know a bit more about area i.e. Shops location and opening times and how to get to the ones that were near. Apart from that not a bad base to get out and about if you want info ask staff in peppis opposite they knew more.
Our first time in this hotel & we had a very pleasant stay. We had booked a Studio Apartment with sea views, but we were lucky enough to be given the Penthouse on the 8th floor. It was very quiet, spacious & spotlessly clean. Two patio doors exit onto a 30 ft wide private terrace with two sun loungers a table and two chairs, with magnificent views of St Julians & the sea. The staff were very friendly & helpful. We were self catering, so can't comment on the food. The hotel is in an excellent location for walking to Sliema & St Julians, with plenty of bars & restaurants within a few minutes walk.
