After reading the negative reviews I thought I had made a big mistake booking this hotel. I was wrong. The man on reception was very welcoming, asked us where we were from etc. Gave us information about the hotel and was generally very helpful. The room was big enough for 3 adults, it was clean, there was tea and coffee and a fridge. The restaurant was very nice, we had bed and breakfast. The selection and quality of the food was excellent, the staff were friendly and kept everything clean and tidy. The location is good just off the front promenade. We enjoyed our stay at the Park Hotel.
This July we had vacation in Sliema with my son. On Booking.com I had reserved a room at the Park Hotel, 4* category, which corresponded to a pretty high price. Our flight arrived late at night on July 15th and we got to the hotel after midnight, i.e. on July 16th. At the reception the payment was demanded immediately, although this is not common practice. When we entered the room, we realized that staying there is impossible. The room was very dirty with torn curtains, the towels were in terrible condition, and there wasn't any second bed, just a dented rollaway bed (see the photos attached). I went back to the reception and said that we would stay there only until morning, as the accommodation did not meet any hygienic requirements. The lady-manager had to admit our сlaim and promised to refund the basic amount into my account. Next morning we rented a room at the Waterfront Hotel and were quite satisfied with the stay. However, despite the promise of Park Hotel Manager, money was not returned.
Just came back from a week spent in this hotel and still cannot believe how this experience ruined my holidays. As we booked it as a package holidays trough Ab-in-den-Urlaub, we paid the whole upfront, which was the only reason to stay there a week, since the travel agency refused to give us the money back or relacate us to another hotel. I've been traveling quite much, but never in my life seen a place as dirty as this one! Already in the corridor, all the carpet floor is covered wit dirt! We were asking to change the room 3 times, before the 3rd room we got, was not as disgusting as the other ones. The foor had holes, on the first morning waling bare feet I hurt my feet, the whole floor as well as walls are covered not only with dirt but also mold! (be careful!!) the sink was dropping water on the floor, curtains covered with something that looks like sick (!!!). I could spend hours listing all that was wrong in this place, the poin is: if you want to enjoy your holidays - avoid this place!
Please avoid this dumb at any cost. The pictures on the internet and website are completely different from the actual place. It’s not a four start. Doesn’t deserve any star rating. It’s dark, dirty and gloomy. The food disgusting all tinned rubbish. The rooms are disgusting and smells of stale cigarette smoke . I could see the shock on other guests faces on arrival. Dreadful
Hotel is situated in the heart of Sliema, surrounded by restaurants, cafes and bars. Great indoor heated pool & Jacuzzi. Dinner and breakfast were great! However, hotel needs modernization! Beds need change to modern ones and also the carpet in common area corridor. No noise from outside room.
My room floor hadn't been cleaned: covered in the hair of others and other dirt. Dirty towels in the bathroom. Shower fitting had mould on it. Hall carpet very marked. Room safe did not have space for laptop and key kept at reception. Door lock barely lockable and old. Another guest asked for a taxi and was given a driver who was not from a reputable company. Lifts barely worked.
We booked September 17th for September 23rd-25th for the surprise hen of our friend. I am a hotel owner in Santorini - Greece and I made the booking directly through the hotel's online reservations system. I called the hotel after the booking to let them know that it was about a special occasion, to arrange a transfer upon arrival (22:00 pm) as well as some flowers, wine, and a small welcoming message for our bride. After arriving at the airport, we were met by a very rude driver that was literally running and we were chasing them since we did not know what car to look for. The car was old and dirty, He didn't even helped us to put the suitcases in the port-baggages. Then he left us in front of a hotel, he asked for 20 euro and he left. Surprisingly, the hotel was a motel and not the one that we had booked. It was in St. Jullians (in a different area!!!!). We went to the reception only to be informed that they had made an overbooking and sent us to the other accommodation without paying them, which means that we had to pay again! Of course I called Park hotel, asked for the manager, who was unable to provide an explanation, I was literally screaming for three hours to take our money back, In the end, they sent a driver with our money at 3 am., only because I told the manager that I was going to call the police. Dreadful experience, we lost our first evening and they destroyed our surprise. Total disaster!
Don't go there! I was on a business trip with a colleague. We booked through an agency for a week. First impression at the check-in was terrible, lazy, unprofessional staff. We had to change three rooms before finding one which could be at least acceptable, the first one stank terribly, the second was dirty and claustrophobic. The room where we spent the night was dirty, the bedside rugs dusty and full of stains, there was mould on the wall and the bathroom old and scruffy. The most disgusting things were the bath towels with black stains all over, we asked to have some clean but the answer was :"Our standard is not white". The carpet in the corridor was stained, they have never cleaned it since the hotel opened. We were really disgusted and called the agency insisting to be moved to another hotel. We unfortunately had to stay for one more night before finding another place. It' s unbelievable the hotel is rated 4 stars, it's a lie. It should be closed down!
Right from the moment we walk up to reception to leaving the Experience was rotten. Receptionist’s where not bothered gave no information about the hotel ie. how to get to room, dinner times, where the restaurant was and the fact they said we where not booked in for meals was a bit a shock, got that sorted. No free WiFi in the room although said so on website. Paid for WiFi and had bother all week. €15 for 1 device that will get expensive if you have kids. Got to the lift which i never felt save in. The carpet in halls leading to the rooms are disgusting (why have carpet in the first place ). The room it’s self was big enough but just looked old with marks all over the walls. The bed was comfortable enough although the pillows where just large cushions with no covers on. The bathroom again looked worn out the bath was a cheap and nasty plastic one which you felt as if you where going to fall through the shower was the best thing about this hotel. The towels where dirty and marked. The restaurant could as with the rest of the hotel do with a major decor upgrade. The food was ok and just ok. The evening meal a buffet style, there is a menu at the front door other than that no little signs to explain what each item was. A chef was on hand to hand out the the hot food like back at school. Breakfast again buffet, English breakfast was fine but no fried or poached eggs just dried up scrambled or boiled still in shell. Continental was lacking, ham or salami a small croissant some tinned fruit. Waitresses where ok but always buzzing round collecting dirty. The pool area again old and tired sun loungers mattresses where seriously dirty due the five Euro deposit required for a towel. The pool bar area was just an empty space with a couple of tables. The pool itself was good couple of thing on the bottom but nothing nasty. So you can take it from this I will not be stay at the Park Hotel Sliema.
The images on the website for the hotel are misleading and other than there actually being a pool, there images of this area bear no relation to the reality. There is no sign of the sunbeds shown. The area was dirty and the sunbeds were mainly broken with dirty cushions. We had the same experience as the previous reviewer and they were at the hotel at the same time as us and complained to the Mercury rep immediately before us. The towels and bedding are old and worn and need replacing as well as a a larger supply as we were told that they could not supply a fresh towel as they were still being washed. The restaurant and quality of food was so disappointing that we ate out after the first night even though we were half board. Genreally the hotel is very run down and needs a complete refurbishment.
