I've stayed for 7 nights with 2 more friends in the same room. When we arrived we asked about some touristic o formation about the city but they just said: "we don't know". The staff was not nice or useful during the all stay. The towels in the room were dirty and old. Besides that in the first days they didn't change the towels. During the weekend we asked for new towels in the reception and they said they didn't have. We heard they had problems with the washing machine but in the reception no one was able to justify the lack of towels. We insisted we needed the towels and 30 minutes later they gave us towels that were smelling very bad and were very dirty... it seemed like someone else had used it before and they just folded them and gave us. It was very bad. When we talked in the reception about the dirty and smelly towels the staff was so rude!! The inspection of the elevator is not updated!! See the photos - I was there in july 2017. The breakfast is very poor and in one of the the cereals were missing. We were told that "the delivery of milk failed and there was no point of having the cereals for breakfast". (What?!?) In the last day we asked the hotel to call to our transfer company to confirm the time to go to the airport and the staff in the reception told us we needed to pay the call!!! This hotel doesn't deserve the 4 stars and the staff was very very rude, incompetent. I would never stay here again and if you want to have a nice experience in Malta don't chose this place.
This is not a 4 star hotel as described. The head receptionist will not give you the time of day if she doesn't like what you are telling her. She will answer the phone while talking to you then ignore you till you leave. Carpets are dirty on the floors and the elevators need a very good cleaning. Air conditioning in rooms is tolerable at most but found myself waking up sweating in the middle of the night. Even air conditioning in lobby is barely on. Wi Fi in the lobby is basically first come first serve. If the lobby is full and a lot of people are on the internet good luck getting on it can be very frustrating. Location is good however there are so many other real 4 star hotels in the area that anyone can go to and have a real nice vacation at. Also if you ask any questions your answer is always very general. No direct answer to what you need to know and there is a directory in the rooms that is useless and tells you nothing. In general no one is helpful at all in this hotel
Terrible service before we even arrived, they use booking.com and even if your stay is 3 months in advance and you pay extra to take the pay at the hotel. They still take the money from your card without calling or asking your permission. When I called the receptionist was rude and told me the money is being held for a month. These guys are thieves and if you are planning on coming to Malta please find another hotel.
After a good first impression created by the newly refurbished foyer our hopes of a 4 star stay were quickly dispelled by the very average room located at a major and very noisy junction of the hotels amenities. After tolerating 2 nights of disturbance the manager kindly moved us to a quieter room where we enjoyed the remainder of our week in relative peace. The redeeming factor of the week was the roof terrace/pool and bar. The staff overall were great particularly the bar/kitchen staff on the terrace but the hotel overall failed to live up to it's 4 star billing and although it is situated in a prime position close to the Sliema waterfront we would not contemplate staying there again.
Stayed here early July 2017 and it was a very ordinary experience. We stayed with our parents and booked a two bedroom suite. We had a double bed in the bedroom and two undersized couches converted to beds in the family room. Not two bedrooms. The air conditioner was extremely loud and sounded like it was on its last legs. No ventilation in the bathroom. Refrigerator was iced over. Power points were cracked. Door was jammed and had to be slammed to close. Reception staff were useless except for one woman. We had to wait for her for any service. Most staff spoke no Maltese and minimal English. Free wifi in the foyer so anyone could walk in off the street and get wifi but you had to pay for wifi in the rooms and the restaurant. Juice and water at breakfast were warm to hot. Eggs the wrong colour and bacon congealed. No ice. Clumps of hair in the pool. Elevators went up instead of down regularly. Save your money and your patience and stay elsewhere.
We stayed in this hotel two nights ago. The refurbished hall does not reflect the poor condition of the rooms (see pictures). The building may have been made in the 1970's and since then rooms have not been refurbished. Rug in the corridors is torn and extremely dirty and full of old stains. The conditioning machine in the room was not working. During the night noise was heard in near rooms. It is not possible that this is a 4 star hotel.
I booked a short weekend trip to Malta, as I had been wanting to experience the old world architecture and natural beauty of this unique place. I was not disappointed. I flew into the Luqa airport and pondered about getting a car. I had heard that the bus system was very efficient, so I opted for this. It was only €2 for the ride into the city. I was going to Sliema, and the bus routed me there after going through the Mater Dei Hospital area, the University and St. Julian's. I'm glad I was able to do this, as Malta is a right-hand drive country. The bus was clearly preferable for me! Do be careful, as with the summer holiday season upon us it was standing room only for most of the trip. My bus driver was excellent. She guided all of us to our various destinations with a pleasant smile. If all cities had people like her in these positions, we would certainly be better off! I arrived at the Park Hotel with some trepidation, as I also had read the alarmingly frequent negative reviews. I'm glad to say that my experience was pleasant. Check in was a breeze, and I was given a room, 304, that was the closest to the water of any of rooms at the hotel. The balcony in this room could not accommodate a chair, but I felt more than compensated for this by the excellent view. My bed was very comfortable, with fresh linens and a relaxing decor. It was very adequate. The bathroom was small but serviceable. Toiletries included packages of body wash/shampoo and several bars of soap. The television set was small, but I rarely use them anyway. There was no electronic safe in my room, but an older style safe that required a central key. I didn't choose to use it, as it would require further payment. However, there was a small refrigerator that held a fair amount. The room's door was old style, with an actual key! I haven't seen that in some time. It was in the hallways where the hotel slips. The carpets appear more than tired. It is this single issue that does more to create a poor impression than any other aspect mentioned. I would strongly suggest that the hotel rapidly rectify this situation. It would positively influence many reviews. The lobby area appears to have been renovated, and it is well done. The floors were marble and quite clean. A strong Wi-Fi signal was provided in this area by the hotel. Wi-Fi was not available in the room without purchasing a plan. I opted for the breakfast, and it was very good and fresh. The usual cereals, juices eggs, bacon and sausages were there, and it was nicely presented. It was a reasonable price at €6.90. I did eat at the restaurant for a dinner buffet which was really quite good. I found all of the people working the restaurant were fantastic. I found the Park Hotel in Sliema to be a fair value for the money, and I had an enjoyable experience. I would come back.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel on a room only basis for three nights in June 2017. It was our third visit to this hotel over a period of seven years, but definitely our last. The first time we visited it was very good, the second time wasn't quite so good, but this time we were really disappointed and thought that it was poor. On arrival we had to produce our passports, fill out a form and pay up there and then. Okay, not a problem with this, and we were then given the key to our room, room 308 on the third floor. On entering the room you have to insert the base of the keyholder in a socket in order to activate the electricity for lights etc. Each time we had a problem with this as we had to keep wiggling it about in the holder until we eventually got power. The toilet flush was a bit of a hit and a miss, sometimes having to attempt to flush a few times for it to work. The small wall mounted TV didn't work, the screen came on but nothing else happened - not sure if you have to pay extra for this service or if it was just broken? It was impossible to get Wi-Fi in our room - probably explains why there were always so many people sitting in the lobby with their phones. View from the balcony was just looking out on to a side street. The room in general looked tired. The first night we hardly got any sleep for guests above and to the side of us moving chairs or furniture. Every time you or anyone moved a chair or a furniture item it groaned loudly as the floors are stone tiled. On the plus side there was a kettle and a fridge in our room. It was a hit and a miss depending on who was on at reception what sort of results you got. Some reception staff were nice and helpful, some didn't appear to have a clue what they were doing, and others were on the verge of rude. For example when I enquired about the Wi-Fi password the receptionist just pointed to a board without uttering a word. In saying that another time we got a nice helpful receptionist who printed out our Ryanair boarding passes for us without any trouble and free of charge. The morning we checked out we were told that we had to pay 20 euros and 50 cents! My wife said "For what?". The receptionist said "For the restaurant". My wife said "But we were never in the restaurant and never ate here!". The receptionist looked back at her computer screen for a few moments and then said "It's okay!". No apology or anything, just it's okay. So there you have it, that was our experience, and we will definitely not be back.
Had a room with terrace looking onto a brick wall, got no sun at all. The whole experience was highly depressing. We did not find the desk staff and management helpful at all. This was the worst holiday i have ever had, i would never return.
Park Hotel double booked my rooms and notified me one day before the booking, after payment had already been authorised. Refused to offer any help in relocation or any form of reimbursement. Continuously sent false reports to booking.com when I opened a case. Greedy, badly managed establishment who are unwilling to take responsibility for their own mistakes.
