Our stay at the Phoenicia could not have been more enjoyable. The hotel itself is beautiful, set in very pretty and well maintained grounds. The pool is particularly impressive - an infinity pool overshadowed by towering ancient walls with a view that is equally impressive. Our room offered panoramic views across the harbour, and was the perfect place to sit and enjoy the sunset over the horizon. The hotel is located just outside the city walls, which means that it is perfectly located for exploring the city of Valetta while feeling far enough away to be a complete oasis from the crowds in the main streets. The staff were all fantastic - in particular the concierge, Lee, who helpfully helped us to arrange a hire car for a day and could not have made our stay easier. We also greatly appreciated the celebratory bottle of prosecco the hotel kindly gave us to celebrate our honeymoon. We would highly recommend The Phoenicia, and will look forward to staying here again the next time we are in Malta.
I wanted to find rest, and relaxation in Malta during the busiest tourist season and found it in Phoenicia Malta. Perfect service, beautiful peaceful swimming pool with seaview and right at the entrance to Valletta. Quiet and fantastic beds...Difficult tro beat this hotel in Malta after a recent refurbishment.
Visited for dinner on a very busy evening with the adjacent Calleja Concert. Superb dinner, faultless service and most enjoyable classic ambience. Well done and so good to see long standing staff and equally new staff with first rate standards.
At first sight the old historical building and the spacious gardens within ancient walls are very impressive. Reception was quick and friendly, we were accompanied to our room on the 4th floor. The harbor view is just beautiful. The hotel was only recently reopened after a thorough renovation. There was still some noise from the building work of the future spa. It is perfectly situated, only three minute's walk to the main bus station and the entrance to the main pedestrian area in spite of the general street and construction work going on all over the city. This is due to the oncoming Culture Capital Year for Valletta. The rooms, bathrooms and balconies are rather small for a hotel of that category but nicely furnished. It is a ather long way to the new infinity pool, but absolutely worthwhile. Enough sun beds and a stunning view. The first day we went there the staff was just listlessly distributing the towels, the second day they spread out the towels and opened the parasols but I still would not speak of an attentive service. The lobby lounge, The Palm Court, is beautifully restored as well as the connecting restaurant and terrace. The breakfast offer is good. The menu for lunch is poor, there should be more variations of salads, pasta and light meals. The dinner menu was okay as well as the quality, the service perfect. Generally we enjoyed our stay and will certainly be staying there again on our next trip to Malta.
A fabulous hotel, in a perfect location next to the City gate. It's a matter of two or three minutes walk to the bus station which is so helpful when you want to explore the island. Beautiful gardens, which are an oasis on a hot summer's day. Everyone on TripAdvisor has been enthusiastic about the swimming pool - it doesn't disappoint and is truly amazing; the walk through the gardens is so relaxing. Do go for the breakfast - we couldn't find anything in the City that compared. Neither could we find anywhere better to eat in the evening (even in price). Outstanding.
For many years now, we've had the pleasure of staying at the Phoenicia and so it's been super to see this wonderful hotel go from strength to strength, recently emerging successfully and gracefully from its refurbishment to become, in our opinion, the best hotel on Malta - so, well worth a visit. Our room was excellent (as usual!) but made even more superb by the refreshing, tasteful colour-schemes and attention to improvement in every detail. Throughout the hotel, in fact, the new stylish décor provides a lovely back-drop. The new Phoenix Restaurant is also now first-class both in terms of 'cuisine' and 'ambiance'! However, I'm delighted to say that the staff at The Phoenicia have not changed!: they continue to be amazing, patient, efficient, helpful, welcoming, courteous, kind ..... the list goes on! And we continue to say "The Phoenicia: always and forever!"
Arrived hotel pretty late in the evening and was tired, it helped a lot with a smooth and swift check-in. Cocktails were lovely at the Club, where the waitress there was very attentive. Everything was amazing in the hotel, room was clean and decorated tastefully, except until this morning. I was told that the fitness centre was closed but I could use the gym facilities in the nearby Excelsior Hotel. The lady at concierge even called Excelsior to inform them before we headed there. However, when we arrived Excelsior, we were told they were not informed and was asked to return to our own hotel. That was a super unpleasant experience and wasted my morning back and forth the hotels, when we returned to Phoenicia, we informed the concierge the situation and suggested them not to send any more guests over to Excelsior if no proper agreement was made. The staffs there said they were reporting that to there General Manager and casually apologised the situation. I expected I would receive a follow up from them, like a formal explanation of what indeed went wrong. Unfortunately, until now nothing. I expected the hotel could have done better in situation like this. Other than that it is an amazing hotel, the infinity pool has a killer view! Yet I have to take 1 star down because of the disappointing handling of the fitness centre situation.
This was our first time visiting Malta so we decided to go upmarket and it was well worth it.The staff are excellent and will help and advise you on any aspect of what you want to see and do.The hotel itself is perfectly situated for an easy stroll to the streets for sightseeing and for getting a bus to anywhere on the island.I would recommend getting a 7 day pass for the bus as it'll save you a small fortune. What we did was just get on any bus and go for a mystery tour and if someplace looked interesting get off and visit the area, don't worry about getting lost as you can get a bus very easily and they all end up at the main terminus in Valletta which is a two minute walk to the hotel. The hotel has well maintained gardens and a great pool. The staff there will take you to your sunbed, bring you a drink and even move the parasol to keep you in the shade, well,it is a posh hotel! We didn't have dinner as we were always out and about but breakfast is not to be missed. The choice is amazing,a fresh honeycomb, a huge leg of ham, eggs anyway you want fresh fruit or a good old British fried, but I must say the sausages were not very good (to me).You just help yourself to all that is on offer.Superb.We had a room on the 1st floor,107, and although there was no view over the harbour or gardens it was very good.A very large room and bathroom and a huge bed that was very comfy.A bonus was a free mini-bar with water, beer and soft drinks in it,a nice touch. The hotel has a veranda where you can have your meals and drink with a fine view over the gardens and a large foyer with comfy sofas. The prices in the hotel are similar to what you pay when out and about which is good for such an upmarket hotel. We will be coming back to Malta in the future and the Phoenicia is definitely where we will be staying.
this hotel is fabulous ,its just been refurbished and its so stylish and worth a visit , the staff are so attentive. the breakfast was a really great selection , it was a joy to stay there even just for 2 nights , highly recommened
We were lucky to arrive after renovations had been completed. The hotel is lovely. We had two rooms on the 1 st floor and both had lovely little balconies overlooking the bus terminal. But not a problem. The hotel is in a very good location to stroll into Valletta. The staff are wonderful. Extremely courteous and professional. Breakfast was very nice and dinner was excellent. Cannot say enough about this hotel adding that they allowed us a late check out of 3:00.
