Extremely nice staff, however pool caused us ear infections which caused closure of the pool for a few days the hotel was average for a cheap hotel good money value poor views though it was a Nice enough stay but would not like to stay here again. Som of the hotel was very dirty and rooms need improvement.
Stayed as a family of 3 at the beginning of September 2015. For the number of stars and the money paid it was a very good holiday. The room was simple - exactly what you expect in this price range. Air-con is paid extra. Nice surprise in a form of pool at the top of the hotel - although some days the pool was closed around 8pm - some might find it a bit short. There is wi-fi which you share with others on your floor (around 3 other rooms) - so the quality is not best. I would recommend going to the pool area and using the wi-fi there - much better connection. Water pressure in the shower could be a little bit better. Location of the hotel was pretty good - close to the promenade, local shops with necessities, bars etc. The hotel itself doesn't have a bar but they offer cold drinks in the reception - delivered to your room or the pool - although the prices were a little bit higher than the local shops. The staff was friendly and willing to help with getting around the area.
great value appartment rooms with small kitchenette - basic, but sufficient. rooms and hotel were clean and well looked after. wi-fi was fairly patchy, but they seem to be trying to remedy this. would recommend as a well located , good value budget hotel with friendly and efficient staff
On reading some of the reviews i was abit apprehensive about our stay but from the off everything was fine. We stayed for 10 nights in a self catering apartment, the staff were friendly & very helpful, the room was cleaned & towels changed every few days. The pool area was lovely & we had it to ourselves quite a few days. The wifi wasn't brilliant, kept having to log in but this seemed to be a problem throughout malta. There was no air conditioning in the room but a fan was provided which was fine in October but wouldnt be great in the summer heat. The hotel is quite central & overall we had a very enjoyable stay.
Lovey staff, very clean apartments and well placed near the beach/main square in Bugibba. The WiFi was not good and they could do with more pots and pans in the apartments though. Only one (rather major) hiccup in that the cleaner left our apartment door open all day after cleaning - I went back to the apartment on my own and was abdolutely terrified with what I may have found. Fortunately, no-one had been in. It could have been very different as the main reception is not manned 24 hours a day and anyone can walk into the building. They don't offer safes in the rooms either so not sure if you want to use theirs in reception how you would access money/documents when not manned. Apart from that, we will be using the Damiani next year. We had a great time in Malta (again). Found out that the Maltese police leave a lot to be desired though. Awful incident on beach one day. Brits/local people giving CPR to an old gentleman and the police (who took 15 mins to get from up the road 5 mins walk away) just stood there (3 of them) and did absolutely nothing. One even asked my partner where a certain area/block of apartments was as he didn't know! My partner duly replied and pointed him in the right direction. Not clever and hope we never need them.
This hotel is very much a basic hotel so if you are looking for something above 3 stars you should look elsewhere. That said the self contained rooms are value for money. They are very clean, in fact the entire hotel is clean. The reception staff were excellent and the cleaning staff always courteous when you happen to bump into them. As I said the hotel is basic and while there are some minor issues, like the shower water running all over the floor requiring you to use your towels to dry the floor. That said it really is not a huge problem once you just adjust. I am a little puzzled by other reviews that say the place was dirty with unfriendly staff and mold in the bathroom as we certain did NOT experience this at all. The only advise I would give management is that you really ought to tell your customers on booking that the price does NOT include the air-conditioner! To arrive and be told that it costs an extra 8 Euro a night is a bit much! Fortunately for us we did not need it. As I said, if you are looking for a basic cheap hotel then the Damiani Hotel is just the place!
My fiancé and I just got back from a week in Malta where we stayed at the Damiani Hotel. For a budget hotel we were pleasantly surprised for what we paid. We had a self catering apartment which was surprisingly spacious and although basic it was very clean throughout, although the bathrooms grouting around the shower could have done with some tlc but it was spacious and otherwise spotless. The kitchen is very basic. It had a fridge with freezer box inside, toaster, kettle and a one ring hob along with the usual plates, cups and cooking utensils but extras such as microwaves could be requested from the reception, but it was adequate for our needs as it was. There was also a dishwashing service available, which I had not found on previous self catering holidays, not that we used the service but I thought it was a nice extra touch. We had a second floor apartment with a balcony overlooking the fairly quiet front road. There is a bar/restaurant directly opposite (wouldn't recommend the food there) which plays music most nights but we didn't find it intrusive and we happily had our balcony doors open all the time and sat out there often. However, in high season, the noise may be louder. Our room was cleaned every day with fresh towels and clean bed linen if required. The roof terrace with pool was a lovely addition, well kept and spacious, with an adequate number of sun loungers, with nice views over the bay. There were umbrellas, although only a few, but there were never many people up there so the amount was more than adequate, and it was a nice quiet place to relax and catch the sun. There were also showers up there to wash down if you wanted to and you were also able to call down and order drinks to be brought up. We can't speak highly enough of the staff. They were all friendly and attentive, always willing to help and were happy to provide us with extra towels for the pool and call us cabs (at no extra charge) etc. Upon arrival we were given a warm welcome and a useful welcome pack with an area map and bus timetable, and were also advised about the better supermarkets and restaurants and how to get to them. We were helped with our cases to our second floor room via the lift. We were warned that the water is not drinkable and a free 2 litre bottle of water was provided in our room and a pack of 6 2 litre bottles are available at reception for only 3 euros which is reasonable when compared to the nearby shops and a lot easier than walking back carrying them. The mains water stopped working due to works further up the street, the hotel staff apologised profusely and offered 2 free drinks as an apology which we thought was very nice seeing as it was not the hotels fault and was beyond their control. The water was back on quite quickly and didn't cause too much disruption. The hotel is within easy walking distance to a few supermarkets and the main square where there are plenty of restaurants and shops and also where you find the sea front. There is a regular, fairly priced bus service from the square, which you can use to go all over the island and also a bus stop a minutes walk from the hotel for some buses. There are plenty of sightseeing tours offered locally including trips to Gozo, although these can't be booked directly at the hotel but the staff are happy to point you to the right place to do so. The wifi was free and good and was accessible throughout the hotel, we were given the password on arrival and the password for the pool wifi is displayed up there and there is a computer in the lobby available to use for free to print boarding passes off etc. Air conditioning is available at 8 euros a day but we found it comfortable (late September) with just leaving out balcony doors open. Check out time is 11am but we were able to leave our suitcases with reception and still have use of the pool and showers up in the pool area until our transfer at 4pm. Overall for a budget holiday/hotel, we can not fault the hotel and its staff, they were all friendly and helpful, the location was good and we would recommend to others looking for a budget break.
Started off bad, said we werent booked in and tried to get us to stay in the even worse hotel across the road, room was not very clean,no cold water tap so could not brush teeth, had to use bottled water, bed sheets changed once and towels not very clean, full of holes, water then went off for half a day, then our shower packed up and we had to use an empty room to clean up,staff not helpful and did not care for our situation, would not go again and certainly would not recommend.
Really dirty place, mold all over the so called bathroom and cockroaches in rooms Ruined our holiday when we arrived they told us we had not booked and tried to put us both into another hotel nearby (they found this amusing)
Chose this Hotel because of good reviews. Recently stayed at this hotel self catering. It was adequate for what we wanted. Very basic, but not happy with the mould in the shower, the dirty underwear found under the bed. Also the fact the air con was 8 euro to use. Stayed in a room at the back of the hotel, over looking local apartments, so was very noisy at times, especially early in the morning and late evening up to 3am. Did ask to be moved but no other rooms available. Wouldn't stay in this hotel again.
