This bistro is part of the Dolmen hotel. It has a lovely, light setting, with big open windows looking out to sea and open views to the front, and pool views to the side. The cakes are delicious, and I eventually chose a lucious cherry cheese cake and large hot chocolate. The service was very attentive, and other diners' lunches looked very appetising. The bill was quite a surprise, in that it was only €6. Afterwards I went for a walk in the grounds and viewed the ancient dolmens. A very pleasant, relaxing couple of hours. Most enjoyable.

The hotel was great, we were very happy for the price we paid. We visited Dolmen in October. Despite there not being a young crowd in the hotel, the animation team, and James in particular, made sure we had a great time, even taking us out in the evenings and showing us the local hot spots. James was great in helping us with any queries we had and made sure our trip was all we imagined.

A nice hotel which has been refurbished in the last months. The hotel is by the sea with a beach and a couple of pool. The hotel which is found in Bugibba is now a modern hotel, with a nice welcome area, a number of restaurants, spa, car park etc. It is found in the heart of a touristic area, with the bus terminus is just next to the hotel. There are always prehistoric stone buildings in the garden area.

Terrible experience! Never ever will stay there again. Only breakfast staff was nice and remarkable. The location is nice and only location. Room smells, dirty .... complain to from desc but no response. If you really want to spent nice time do not book this hotel!!!

A solo Christmas holiday at The Dolmen Resort Hotel ,which is rose among thorns !! The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard, modern and up to date. The area it is in..St.Pauls Bay is in my humble opinion a dump. Ok it was winter, but most days were sunny with blue skies, and it was perfect for walking around if not sunbathing. There is sea here !! but the shore line is rock and stone, the views across the bay are average, the promenade if you can call it that,is not cared for, any planters are full of weeds and rubbish, the railings scream out for a paint job .The buildings are ugly and mostly in disrepair,in fact the complete area is devoid of any charm or interest, very depressing. If you think Benidorm has some grotty English bars...wait until you see those here. Thank god for the Dolmen Resort Hotel !! If the hotel wasn't of the excellent standard it had, I would have got on the first plane home. The food and service was excellent, the cleanliness was spot on. Nice indoor pool, pleasant grounds, and a lovely Bistro type cafe overlooking the bay,but not showing the mess the foreground is in . Only one niggle..the Bar..it is newly formed, but lacks comfort and ambiance airport lounges have more character. Back to the resort...to enable you to get away from this place there is a bus terminal behind the Dolmen Hotel...buses leave very regularly to Valletta Sliema and most places of interest on the Island, they are clean modern and the fare is 1.50 euros single for each journey Valletta and Sliema are a delight, compared to the St.Pauls Bay area, and the journey takes 45 minutes. .

1st impression.. customer service - 1/5. 2nd.. product - 3/5 3rd.. location - 4/5 Health & Safety standards..0/5. (Inside the bathroom has been fitted a small window to access the pipes, however it was not locked and a small child can fall into the shaft, easily..Automatic fire doors not hooked to magnets or with stopper to keep it open..etc. )

I'd better start off by saying I don't normally post negative reviews, so this will be an exception. This is a 4 star hotel with (mostly) 2 star timeshare apartments. The first thing to be aware of is that there are two types of accommodation at the Dolmen - 1) Timeshare apartments 2) Hotel rooms. We exchanged one of our timeshare weeks via II for here and found ourselves in a very dated and dirty apartment with lots of issues - albeit that the apartment had fantastic 180 degree views over St Paul's Bay. There were too many issues to list here... Although it was windy outside when we arrived (it was December after all) the apartment was really cold. We found out that the aged window locks were broken and we could not shut the window in the main bedroom. Maintenance men arrived and the only way they could shut the window was to screw it shut through the frame from the balcony outside! We requested a change of apartment and the new apartment was a nicely refurbished one on the ground floor. We complained - the manager was sympathetic, apologised and said that all of the original timeshare apartments were coming to the end of their 25 year leases and consequently, they were being run down, possibly sold off in early 2018. He agreed that they should not be advertised as 4 star accommodation - (so why do so?). He offered us free lunch in their excellent Delos restaurant overlooking the swimming pools. We were self-catering so didn't eat in the main restaurant during our week. The hotel has undergone significant redevelopment over the last 18 months and it is now a huge polished marble and glass hotel with quite a cold-feeling reception. The adjacent car park is still being constructed and is a bit of an eyesore - parking was in adjacent streets and free town car parks. It was OK in December though must be a real headache in high season. There was free Wifi throughout the hotel though the only English Channel was Sky News - disappointing, seeing as everyone in Malta speaks English... I'd read other comments about the unfriendliness of the Reception staff - I have to say that our experience was the same - notably from the older male behind the desk (maybe he's fed up of negative reviews?). In summary, a good hotel but not necessarily for exchanging timeshare owners unless you demand a refurbished apartment!

We are just coming to the end of our 3 week stay and our 4th visit over an 8 year period. Love the refurbishment think it has been very tastefully done. Cannot fault the staff who are always pleasant and helpful, Dana and Yoana the restaurant receptionists were lovely as were, amongst others, Francesca and Dragana in the bar. Variety of food is always good and the gala dinners were amazing. The new indoor swimming pool was opened just after we arrived and we couldn't get over how big it was plus very warm, my only criticism is there should be a hand rail to get in and out of the pool. We were allocated the rooms we requested - West Facing sea view with balcony, rooms lovely and bathroom with big walk in shower. Would advise people that want trips out to go to Melody shop just up from the San Antonio hotel, she arranges them to suit people's needs and they are so reasonable, we did one to the Sunday market at the fishing village and another to see the cribs and lights which were well worth it. (Room 3136)

Stayed here for one night, no information from front nest what time dinner, what time breakfast where to eat, that you need a ticket for a towel for the spa, very badly signed in the hotel, being woken by housekeeping at 8. 30 what time you leaving not good for me. We stayed here because we have friends coming over (8) and looking to stay somewhere nice you make up your own minds on that one. Food 6 out of ten, staff7. Bathrooms the glass between the shower should have spot etchings on them so you don't walk into them.

Stayed at the Dolman over the Xmas period. The hotel is in a great location with wonderful sea views. Very close to the local bus station & local bars, shops & eateries. The xmas lunch was wonderful we were on a B&B basis but paid extra for Xmas lunch, well worth it. so much choice, even though there was confusion on the day which restaurant we should be in even though we checked with reception twice before the actual day. Have to say we were disappointed by the lack of information provided on check in. No info regarding the hotel restaurants or other facilities such as the pool or Jacuzzi. also no info in the room on hotel facilities or on fire escape procedure. The reception staff also didn't know basic local info such as where to catch the sightseeing bus. The rooms were well laid out, disappointed no kettle & tea making facilities which you would expect from a 4*. We did have one problem - on the first night we found a sewing needle in our bedding. not what you want! We reported it to reception the following morning with very little response. We were told housekeeping would be informed. We didn't receive any kind of apology from the management. Neither of us wanted to make a fuss & spoil our holiday but were left disappointed by the lack of reaction to this situation. In general a nice hotel even if the reception staff where lacking. The restaurant staff were efficient & friendly. Good choice of food at breakfast. xmas lunch outstanding. Need to up their game a bit on customer service
