Our stay at Dolmen was very comfortable. Good air conditioning in our room, cool reception area, nice pool area. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Tried the breakfast the first day and it was okay, but ate breakfast outside of the hotel rest of the week.

A pleasant hotel, the room was nice, the food was excellent with a great vegetarian choice. The pool area was good , however the towel using sunbed reservers need to behave. We managed to get a couple of beds when we went down after breakfast one day, all others reserved, some were not used until late afternoon. It is so selfish. Although the hotel was good, it was not for us, it was a little bit too big and a little bit too busy.

Beautiful hotel grounds and all pools are really nice, always kept clean and were always able to get a sunbed. Was Very disappointed with the evening food, ended up eating out 5 nights out of 7 so waste of money paying for half board! Breakfast was fine though but always busy, however staff are very efficient and clear tables quickly. The other restaurants in the hotel looked lovely but there are plenty of nice restaurants in the town for half the price so would recommend venturing out. Our rooms were not up 4 star standard in my opinion, tiny little balcony with view of building work and no light in the room, however our friends were moved due to an issue in their room and they were given a much nicer bigger room so maybe worth asking if your not happy.

Is well-situated, but toilet flush did not broke and the hotel promised three times to be repaired. This did not happen until I called the reception and said that I will stay until it was repaired. It cost me about an hour. First the service man came, then he had to take a new cover and came back later, but in any case I knew it was repaired. Another day the cleaning lady did not do their work properly. Then the manager said that she was sorry and promised me a bottle of wine which I also never have received. It is not about the bottle of wine but it is strange that it is promised and not given The hotel is well-situated and nice, but you must not have room problems, because they do not solve them if you do not persist. The hotel is well-situated but because of the poor service it gets an average judgement.

We visited this hotel for a week's break in the sun. The hotel is one of the nicest in a busy and unattractive resort. It has a prime position on the seafront and was ideal for my husband and me as we love swimming. There were always beds available even though the hotel allowed non-residents to use the facilities for a fee of 12 euros a day, however some were broken and very uncomfortable. There were 2 pools on the beach and 2 lovely pools in the attractive grounds of the hotel. Many of the guests were all-inclusive so if you are paying for drinks make sure the bar staff are aware of this when you order as the 'free' cocktails are very different to those purchased. The rooms were comfortable and roomy with good bathroom facilities. It is worth asking for a sea view as there is building work going on at the back of the hotel. Our room was one of the few that did not have a balcony, so if this is important to you avoid room 2142. We chose the bed and breakfast option - the breakfasts were fine, although the dining hall was manic between 9:30 and 10 and twice we returned to our table to find it had been cleared and reset even though we had not finished. Breakfast finished at 10, which seems very early for a relaxing holiday. We ate 3 times at the restaurant on the seafront. The food and service was excellent every time. It was slightly more expensive than some of the resort restaurants, but definitely worth it. The smoked salmon and prawn salad was superb. The bus terminal was behind the hotel and the lively square was about 5 minutes walk away. We had a great holiday in this resort, which does lack charm but is lively and friendly and easily accessible to the rest of the island.

This was our first time in Malta and this could be the standard in general, but in my opinion you can see the hotel spends the absolute minimum to maintain its 4 star rating and is well below average of other 4 star hotels we have stayed in. The fitness centre is a joke, 2 treadmills, 1 bicycle and 1 weights machine. It's in the spa area, which means it's always too hot and humid and the floor is wet all the time. People in the reception are generally not nice, their tone is almost agressive but it could just be the english entonation here (but the staff in the restaurant clearing the tables is very nice and they have it really busy too) Breakfast is ok but not great in terms of quality compared to other 4 star hotels (exception for the fresh bread which is really good) The spa treatments are good and varied but the lady in charge did not make me want to return, her nice manners don't seem genuine sadly. The spa area with the indoor pool and sauna is not cared for all day, there is water everywhere and the toilets and showers are not cleaned very often. It is honestly filthy. It can be other hotels are within this standard but if I return to Malta I will choose another hotel. However there are some plus sides to report to be fair (but again not enough to make me want to return): Several pools to choose from Pool has sun all day and many sunbeds (although people reserve them from very early) Easy access to the sea Wifi available everywhere and works well generally The shower on the room and water pressure Hotel was recently renovated and they seem to be just missing the final touches on the common areas You can buy trips and tours directly at the hotel and the prices are in line with the ones outside Close to the bus station Efficient system to take care of luggage on the day you leave with numbered 'tickets' and a locked room only for staff.

Stayed in the Dolmen for a week in early August. All Inclusive: We went for all inclusive and it was definitely worth it. The buffet was very good and had plenty of choice. The menu at Cafe Delos had a good array of dishes and the food was excellent. The bar was always staffed and all drinks (with the exception of champagne cocktails) were included. Staff: staff in the Dolmen were helpful and friendly. Pool: The pool areas were really nice. However, lots of people got to the loungers early, left their towels and didn't return for several hours. This could be better managed by the hotel. The bad start: We arrived at 1am and were given our room card. The receptionist said to let her know if we wanted to change room as the room was a quite a walk from reception. As we walked from the bright and airy reception towards our room, we noticed that the quality of the corridor started to drop. Our room was located in the old un-refurbished part of the hotel. The room was dull, dated and the air conditioning didn't circulate throughout the room. We asked to be moved (as the receptionist said we could) but were told there were no rooms left but that we would be moved tomorrow. After a night of little to no sleep we were moved to a bright, spacious room and the rest of our stay was great.

The hotel is fine, it has lots of pools, a private sea front area and some great views of the sunset over St. Paul's Bay. Having said that the pools are all packed and if you don't plan to get your towel out before breakfast and lay by the pool all day you wont get any shade or a sunbed. There is some form of entertainment every evening and Breakfast is very busy after 0800 and they serve beer.....!! The rooms are simple and as long as you face away from the pool area they are pretty quiet. Interestingly there is a form in each room for you to fill in with repairs that are needed to hang on the door each morning. As part of a package it is probably fine but at €200 per night for a twin room it is definitely not worth the price. When we go back next year we will not be staying at the Dolmen.

The hotel itself was lovely and the staff couldn't have been more helpful! The animation team - particularly James, Shaggy and Keira, were amazing. They were really friendly and fantastic with the children. Although there was never any pressure to join in, they managed to include all of us in darts, kids water polo and even aqua aerobics- something I've never done!! The swimming pool was great, we tended to stay at the one next to the wet bar and by the games.

This hotel has me baffled at the fact it is four stars as it definitely deserves five. I went with a family of five which required two rooms but the dolmen had very accommodating staff and where fine with us checking out several rooms. there is Wi-Fi all about the hotel with even a signal at the pools. the buffet meals have a large selection of high quality food however there is a supermarket and a good choice of restraunts in the near by area. its not far from the airport and right next to a bus terminal where you can easily take the bus to Valletta ect.
