My room was on the second floor, a very comfortable one, beautifully cleaned and well-equipped. As I was on a business trip, I simply did not have time to take advantage of the sauna, massage, the swimming pool and the interesting programmes that are part of the wonderful services offered by the hotel. The food was really delicious and there was always a wide range of choice at breakfast. One evening my colleague and me tried a Swedish table dinner at the hotel which was also fantastic. The guy who was singing in the bar gave us unforgettable moments by his marvellous voice. Besides, all the stuff members we became acquainted with were always very helpful, smiley and kind. A great THANK YOU for this amazing service. Krisztina from Hungary
We stayed here in March for a family getaway. The hotel is very big. The room was very big and clean. The restaurant was big and with a lot of choices. The only thing to complain about was the lack of a good cup of coffee. You had to go to the hotel bar and pay extra for an espresso or a cappuccino. The hotel breakfast included only machine coffee... The indoor pool was clean and you could borrow towels. We didn't use the SPA or outdoor pools so I can't say anything about that. The personell was helpful and serviceminded. I forgot my glasses in the room and they sent me them by post. I'm so happy about that!
First impressions of hotel were very good. Beautiful reception area, light, open and modern. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. We had upgraded to a sea view room, which we got, but we also wanted a balcony. When we asked at reception they gave us an option of 2 rooms to choose from straight away, so very accommodating. Breakfast staff are very efficient and quick at clearing and replenishing fresh food. A good variety of freshly cooked food was on offer everyday. Each day one counter made something new, e.g waffles, omelettes. Coffee not to my liking as out of a machine but the delos served a lovely coffee. We didn't eat in the restaurant as only stayed B&B so can't comment on food. However we did eat in the in-house Delos bistro one night and the food was excellent. Service was brill, very friendly staff and food came out quickly. Reasonably priced too. Rooms are a very good size, stayed in a double room, lots of storage areas and bathroom nice and roomy for 2 people. Rooms cleaned to a good standard everyday, towels changed too. The whole hotel and outside areas are extremely clean, every morning I have seen multiple staff members cleaning all areas thoroughly. For the use of spa facilities included in the price the spa is good. Only bad thing is the sauna is small (max 4 ppl) and no steam room. However not a massive issue as I would still come back. Didn't use the gym facilities, they looked very basic but a okay range with a view, nice bonus to have for free. There are 3 decent sized pools (additional small baby pool) to use, loads of sun beds. We came in April so it was quiet but can imagine in summer time it gets busier. The location of the hotel is excellent! I don't think you could get better in Bugibba/St. Paul's Bay. Right on sea front, 5 minute walk from the centre with multiple restaurants and bars and the other direction is the bus depot less than 5 minute walk away. We weren't here in peak season but even if we were I don't think noise from bars would be a problem. Overall would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again!
The hotel was clean and modern. The breakfast had a large variety and the staff accommodating in getting me milk to fill my baby’s bottles. Had to change the room due to the first being tiny and not worth what I was paying. They changed our room on the second night. Unfortunately they cleaned the window at 3am -5am one early morning which kept me up but that was compensated by free dinner at the hotels restaurant. Had an issue with one of the cleaning staff (Josephine) who despite there being ample room in the lift didn’t want me to enter citing that it will cause the lift to breakdown. I entered anyway and upon exiting she said to other guests “these people don’t understand”. I asked her what she meant by this (obviously a rascist comment) and she coward. I complained to reception staff who said that they’d inform the manager but no apology was given. Other than this incident, the hotel is highly recommended and despite this situation I would consider staying again.
This was our 8th (or maybe 9th) stay at the Dolmen but I'm not sure we'd go back. It was our first stay since the refurbishment and it seems that a lot has been spent on the public areas and new rooms rather than the existing rooms which are now looking very dated. We booked a superior room and for the third time were allocated a room with a tiny balcony on the side of the hotel which receives very little sun. We were given a different room straight away which was better but still had issues. The room safe didn't work and we reported it twice and were dismissively told that they would send the manager, no body came so we ended up having to keep our money and valuables with us when we went out. Having a shower resulted in large pools of water on the floor. On a more positive note, the wifi is much improved and the housekeeping was excellent. We were staying on a bed and breakfast basis and the choice of food was good but the new layout in the restaurant is very confused and results in people wandering about in all directions, at time it was very overwhelming. I think that perhaps the hotel is now too big. We visit Malta every year but feel that the extra money it costs to stay at the Dolmen is not really worth it and we can get much better value for money at other hotels in the area.
Very modern, well managed hotel, situated in St. Paul's Bay. My room was properly maintained by a very conscientious housekeeper. Hotel staff very friendly, English speaking and helpful. Dining room extremely well run, variety of evening meals which were not repeated over my two week stay. Well maintained indoor and outdoor pools with plenty of lounges. Excellent location for transportation to a multitude of attractions on the island. Shops and restaurants within walking distance. Handy to public transit.
Our first room was over the casino which was noisy during the night so we asked to be removed the next morning and were given a lovely room where you could see the sea whilst sitting in bed. The heating worked well and the wet room was an added bonus. The breakfast and evening buffet were pretty good and as we had half board we generally had lunch in the Delos as it was far better than the local restaurants offered. We were disappointed the spa was closed for repairs but it looks lovely. I had a bad cold, so didn't take it too badly. There is a super new indoor pool but being unwell, I didn't fancy swimming lengths. Not sure if there's facilities for getting a drink in the indoor pool. The wifi was excellent everywhere. We meant to visit the casino but didn't get around to it. There's a live band in the bar in the evenings and we could always get a comfortable seat. We enjoyed a visit to the Car Museum nearby.
Loved my stay at this hotel, staying in a double which had sea view. Room was clean and breakfast variety was lot to chose from. Would recommend. The hotel had nice swimming pool and access to gym and sauna. WiFi was very weak.
Superbly managed hotel . Room excellent and spotlessly clean with lovely housekeeping staff. Food outstanding in main restaurant for both buffet dinner and buffet breakfast with extremely efficient ,courteous and friendly staff. Delos cafe is much more than a cafe offering a wide selection of food with outstanding views over the Mediterranean and again wonderful staff. Animation team do a great job with the children and produce outstanding shows during the summer months. We had an excellent three week holiday in the Dolmen in July 2017 and returned Easter 2018 and the hotel extension is complete and is extremely impressive which includes a new large indoor pool , a new gym, very attractive and large foyer and lounge. In the summer months the Batubalan restaurant is open at the very edge of the Mediterranean which offers magnificent views and sunsets, fabulous food and is superbly managed by Robert ably supported by his charming staff. Advise you book a table to ensure that you do not miss out on somewhere extremely special. One further piece of advice, pay that bit more for a sea view as the view over the Mediterranean is indeed something quite special. We are already in the process of making plans for our next visit to Malta and we will most certainly be returning to the Dolmen. Enjoy, Pat and Ann from Scotland
The hotel need refreshing and they are not done yet but is done is great. One thing that has not changed is the food which could stand some improvement. Recognize the food is tailored to retired European but suspect from the number that go outside for dinner they are voting with their feet.
