Originally we booked the Cordor hotel but when we arrived we were told that we had been upgraded to the Coral Hotel. Well if you call the Coral hotel an upgrade I would have hated to see what the other hotel would have been like. The Coral hotel do like a bit of duct tape to hold things together. The hotel is very dated it was like being in a 1970's carry on film. Everything in the hotel was dated and tired. However it is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was good and a good choice. We were only there for 4 nights which was enough, I wouldn't want to stay for more than that, however there were a lot of couples who go back to the hotel year after year for 2 weeks or more. The location of the hotel was ok, it was not far from the sea, bar's, restaurants and the bus station. Overall for what we paid it was a very cheap short stay in Malta and you get what you pay for so don't expect luxury. If you want a kettle to make tea and coffee in your room it's at a extra cost.
Returned home today from a weeks stay. 100% agree with Juicylucy60's review. To say the hotel was basic is being kind. It hasn't been maintained in at least 20 years, I had to request blankets to put on top of the mattress as the beds were so uncomfortable, the frame made out of soft cheap plywood, the base thin chip board, and every time you moved the noise was horrendous. Our bathroom window opened out onto an enclosed shaft which housed all the pipe work, if we left this window open the room would stink of oil/diesel. The balcony had a view of a wall, was above the kitchen which had a large 'noises' extractor fan that kindly started pumping out a greasy smell at 6am. I do love good food, the food here really was horrible, no other way to describe it. The bar area was a joke, the lounge area consisted of 6 chairs facing the reception desk which was approx 3 feet away. As Juicylucy 69 said, there was too much litter dumped on the street that the hotel was on, and there was a lot of people (mostly Eastern European) outside a bar and off licence constantly drinking and leaving empty cans around. One English gentleman aptly named the area Beruit. We were literally gob smacked at guests were saying they return to this hotel every year, one couple were staying for 6 weeks, my husband commented that would be a prison sentence but I corrected him by saying the food would have been better in prison. We booked this hotel as it had good reviews, all I can think is that the people who wrote the reviews were possibly drunk at the time, or they really don't care where they stay and what they eat. One day the temperature reached 34 degrees, I asked why we couldn't have the air con on, apparently it's only switched on by the maintenance when the owner of the Group says it's ok to do so, the staff were obviously embarrassed to admit this. The staff were helpful, the pool area was ok, that is the only positive comments I can give this hotel. Would we go back - DEFINITELY NOT, not even if it was free.would I recommend it, DEFINITELY NOT. If you have already booked this hotel then you have my deepest sympathy. I would go back to Bugibba, but not to this area. Bugibba needs a good clean up and stricter rules on litter, and dog waste!
Had a lovely relaxing time here clean and friendly staff very nice will go back everything you need very good for value near beach shops restaurants pictures etc loved it so peaceful too for families couples etc food excellent at least you have choices the weather was great for time of year this is second time we have stayed and can't wait to go back
Just returned from a weeks holiday, hotel is clean, room cleaned every day, and staff friendly, BUT, you have to pay for the fridge , pay to hire a kettle and then pay each day for tea and coffee! Pay for remote control, although you get this back. The pool is on the 6th floor, and lift only goes to 5th, this is a 40 bedded room, so that is 80 people when full, and only 18 sun beds, some of which are not round the pool but on a lower terrace. We had breakfast only which was good. There was no nice lounge to relax in, just 4 chairs in reception area where you get free wifi! So they were usually full. It is well situated with a ten minute walk to the square and promenade, with lots of places to eat,
Well the first day my husband went out on verandah the chair broke when he sat on it, the next day could not flush toilet someone sorted it then it happened again my husband had to sort it the next day cistern started to drip had a bucket under it for the rest of stay the stay before we left toilet was soaking as there was a problem with boiler next to pool water was dripping down walls from ceiling but got sorted quite quickly the rooms are big mattress was comfy but when you turned in bed or sat on it the noise, the food was not to good i only took toast and cornflakes bacon was dry hard and fatty dinner could of been better everything in gravy roast gammon was ham wrapped like a tube filled with shredded ham disgusting never ate that much chicken noodle soup was really good. Staff were very helpful, cleaners were great its spotless clean but food could be better to be honest the area around hotel is very dirty with rubbish on streets bad pavements and about a 100 yds there is a shop that seems to attract quite a few drinkers standing in shop way drinking all day not nice to pass nothing to look at on verandah if you are at back of building in fact all of Bugibba is needing cleaned up you have to dodge dog dirt all over such a shame as the people are lovely
This was our second stay at the Coral Hotel and it was just as nice as the first time. It is clean and comfortable. The Staff are very friendly and they always have a smile for everyone, (Mario, Charlie, Theadora and Robin) are very helpful. The food is nice and the choices are good. The Hotel is approximately 10 minutes walk from Bugibba Square and there are also bus stops on both sides of the Road outside which makes it handy if you want to venture to other places. (The 21 euro weekly unlimited bus ticket is great value for this). The cinema is next to the hotel and shows movies with English dialogue. We had a pleasant stay at the Coral and I’d have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone visiting Bugibba in Malta. Thanks very much again. Lilian
A very friendly family run hotel Very clean and very central for going out and about bus stops just out side the hotel both sides of the road Pubs and plenty of places to eat also next door to the cinema great for the one day it rains Ha The down side is the food cooked breakfast but not much choice very small sausages fatty bacon and over cooked eggs No pastries Toast and Jam No fruit . Evening food was ok but you must like gravy as most things are in gravy only had mixed veg except one day we had cabbage. we ate out the last 4 days just to give us a break from the same food . Breakfast out down the road 100% better for just £3.50 and a large mug of coffee/toast If you can take a travel kettle and tea/Coffee you can rent a kettle for £10 a week Tea and coffee extra £3.50 a day . rooms have a fridge/ safe cost extra. TV works without remote. The beds are very uncomfortable they look home made the slightest movement sounds awful Plenty of hot water shower wasn't the best but the bath was ok. We had a great holiday the hotel is a 3 star so you get what you pay for but for convenience a good location and lovely people
We stayed at the Coral hotel for a week in February and thoroughly enjoyed our week...We were half board and both the breakfast and evening meal were of a good standard for the money we paid, good choice of food and plenty of it. Hotel is nicely located close to the main square and the bus station.
