Renaissance Malmö Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

We stayed at this hotel for one night as we had a free night being a Marriott member. Unfortunately, we were given a room on the second floor right over the square. The outdoor cafe piped music coming in from the square was loud and annoying. Thankfully, we were there on a Wednesday and not a weekend where it will continue to 3:00am. The hotel decor is fun and the rooms are adequate. I did not care for the laminate flooring in the room however. For us, the best part about this hotel is the location. You are very close to the train station and it's convenient to walk to the shops, restaurant and park. Additionally, you are 20-30 minutes from Copenhagen on the train and the price point is competitive. When booking, ask for an interior room away from the square in a quiet location.
In the reception you meet a pink elephant,,, Anyway if you think it is a sign of hangover, please change😉. A very central situated hotel, 5 min walk from train station, close to Lilla Torg, a meetingplace with various food and beverages. The rooms are spatious, clean and comfortable. If you get tired of Malmoe, Copenhagen is 30 min's away...
I didn t stay overnight, was here for an event but I ve seen the hotel rooms before. Very good location, in the city centre and close to the railway station. I like the purple colour in the lobby and the rooms and also at the entrace you are welcomed by a pink elephant
The hotel is the typical Nordic style décor and in good condition. The location is good, being about 5 minutes' walk from Malmö Central station. Reception staff were pleasant and efficient. It wasn't purpose built as a hotel so there are some weird artefacts like pillars in the middle of passageways (see photo). The dining room is cramped and at peak breakfast demand it's inadequate - and they also don't have enough staff on for the peak, either. So avoid breakfasting any time around 8am. The air conditioning in my room steadfastly refused to go into heating mode despite 'rebooting' according to instructions, keeping the bedroom 'nice and cool' in September.
The central train station is a 5-10 minute walk, offering easy access from the Copenhagen Airport in around 30 minutes. Perfectly situated in the old town, just off Lilla Torg with all its bars and restaurants, hotel bar itself makes very good cocktails. Although this being Sweden, prepare for eye watering prices for booze. Decor in the public areas is bright and modern, with whimsical touches like a huge pink elephant in the lobby! Rooms are of a decent size, with attractive hardwood floors and very comfortable beds. I had an inner facing room away from the street, which was quiet, but I suspect outward facing rooms may be a little noisy on a weekend night. The only negative was the cleanliness of the bathroom. There were multiple hairs on the floor that were definitely not mine, and stains under the toilet seat that really should have been noticed by housekeeping. The staff at this hotel are super, and really make your stay. Everyone is friendly and helpful, especially the front desk for recommendations on things to see and do. Service in the bar and restaurant is speedy and offered with a smile. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Malmo.
In many ways, this is one of my favorite hotels ever. It is located in the heart of one of those classic old European cities that transport you back in time and yet are trendy. The hotel itself is stylish in its purple hued lobby and rooms. You are greeted at the door by a pink elephant. The breakfast room is intimate, but not so small that I could not find a seat. The food is pretty standard for a Marriott establishment, which is to say that it is fresh and has variety, although you will not find an omelet station. There is no executive lounge, but they did give me a voucher for one drink each day. Be aware that this is useless on Sundays since the bar and restaurants are closed that afternoon and evening. My room overlooked the Lillie Torg, a charming square with restaurants and bars. When I first saw the view from my window I was charmed, less so with the thumping music flooded the room until 3 a.m. This is not a problem for those who want to party at that hour. The room was dead quite in the daytime except for Monday morning when the cleaning crew came at 6 a.m. The very pleasant desk clerk assures me that rooms away from the square are less noisy. I loved the hotel, it's location and its staff enough that I would give the hotel another try. That I would give this hotel five stars even though I had little sleep at night speaks volumes for how much I loved the hotel. I would add that the hotel is a short train ride from Copenhagen but much less expensive than hotels in that city.
For Marriott fans looking for an affordable stay and/or those priced out of Copenhagen proper, the Renaissance Malmo probably offers all you need. Located in the heart of the very cute main square where all the nice shopping, restaurants and night-life is and a 5-8 minute walk from the Central Train Station. The hotel itself, however, felt a bit dated -- like the hotel is the composition of several old buildings now being put together for this purpose. Room product was spare--"upgraded room" still had a closet that could not be opened fully without slamming into the opened bathroom door. The lobby had a decent bar scene, a nice included breakfast. Gym was small and off the basement -- accessible by only one of the two hotel elevators...wouldn't work for more than 4 people to use it at one time. Front desk help was consistently cheery and pleasant. Nice bonus -- use of hotel bikes for a nice ride around the very accessible Malmo waterfront.
Spent two nights here with my wife in July 2017. This stay was as good as the first stay one year earlier. Rooms are generally good. Beds are comfortable and the breakfast is very good. Staff is cool but sttentive. The hotel is located in the city centre so everything is within reach. It is probably the number one or two hotel in Malmo; but don't be fooled - this is by no means a true five star hotel if compared to 5 star hotels in Asia or in large cities in Europe. But best in Malmo isn't bad.
Probably one of the smaller Renaissance hotels I've stayed in but probably also one of the better, maybe even the best. Nice old building that appears to have been redone completely recently. Too bad only had a short 1 night stay there, would have loved to explore a little more. Only drawback probably is parking, hotel is located in the downtown area with no parking spots around, for me not an issue as I came by taxi and was picked up the next day by my business appointment.
Hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from the Malmö central station (Malmö C), and right next to the old town plaza with lots and lots of restaurants. Hotel offers small, but very inviting lobby, full bar and restaurant (bar and restaurant are close on Sunday for dinner). The rooms are a good size and nicely appointed. Large convenient armoire has enough space to hang your clothes and good amount of the shelf storage. Good size working desk (somehow my desk chair was not very convenient as I kept sliding off it - but this might be by design). Bed was comfortable, good size, good choice if pillows. I have to commend hotel on may be the best A/C system I encountered over the last few years of travel - I was able actually set temperature to the desirable level and get the room comfortable - I’m sure those of you who travel often can really appreciate this seemingly simple luxury. Spacious bathroom with its own temperature control and heated floor - another element of comfort which I greatly appreciate. Breakfast buffet in morning was excellent, wide variety of cold cuts, cheeses, eggs, omelette station, fresh fruit and more. Excellent, warm and welcoming service - really a pleasure to talk to anyone, from front desk to waiters to cleaning staff. Overall, very comfortable and cuddly hotel with its own charm - most highly recommended. If my travel will take me again to Malmö, I would unquestionably stay there again.
