The location of the hotel is tremendous! Right next to both Lilla Torg and Stora Torg this hotel is in the middle of “everything”. The rooms are alright, but there are troubles with the internet. If your room is placed in the end of the hallway, then the internet doesn’t work. That is something that the hotel should look at.
It is in a lovely old building from 1900. The rooms will be renovated this summer but even now, even if the furniture is in need of replacing, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is good and the service is excellent.
The good: Location, location, location :-) Big room (Superior-double) Couch, dining table and small officedesk Bathroom with tub and double washzinks. The room has an old style to it, with beautifull ceiling .. view to the pedestrian-street. The hotel restaurant served an ok breakfest. The pedestrian-street can be noisy, also it seems theres a nightclub nearby, shouting and drunken-singing on the street and a distant base-volume going dunkdunkdunk until 2... but then again, some of these disturbing elements is the price you pay for such a location.. its a choice Theres room for some small adjustements. I could hear everything they did upstairs, very sceaky floors. Theres i no mini hotel-fridge in the room. The curtains can not cover the window. The bed is soft ... way to soft. But the worst was the smell in the bathroom.... old water, like it has been unused for months. The bathtub was kind of a jacussi as well, but I didnt dare to turn it on... smelled awful. the bathtub doubles as a shower, but I couldnt figure out, how to get the water to run through the showerhead, i tried to pull and push anything I could think of, but I never found out how. A small sign with an instruction would have been nice. The price is very very reasonable I would like to pay 10% more and avoid that smell... and please make a sign with shower-instruction... could be done in a hour... make a drawing, laminate and put on showerwall... easyfix
The hotel has seen better days. The corridors and rooms are worn. The bathroom was in a pretty bad condition while the rest of the hotel could fit as charming. Service was very good, and so was the breakfast and beds. Location and price was very good, so all in all I’m very content with my stay.
I stayed at the Mortensen for one night in April 2017. Check in was quick and friendly, with a bit of banter with the receptionist. My 5th floor room was very small, with a single bed and tiny desk taking up most of the room. Furniture is old and has definitely seen better days. There were lots of creaks and groans in the old building to impact sleep quality. Internet was slow and very fiddly and on an antiquated externally-managed system. It threatened to cut off after 30 mins, but never did. Location of the hotel is good, and it's an easy walk to a very pleasant part of Malmo. Anyway, this is a case of getting what you pay for. There are more expensive options in the area providing a better experience, but for a cheap and cheerful night in Malmo, you could do worse than the Mortensen.
Very good location, central in Malmö. Near the central station, shopping street etc. The hotel is made in a classic antique style. My room was big and clean, but was lacking "black out curtains". It was hard to sleep during the day, because the curtains was not good. There was not many guests at the hotel when i stayed there, so they did not do the breakfast buffet. So the breakfast was not the best.
Great location and a short walk to the shops and restaurants. The station is also a short walk away. Friendly reception staff. My room was very big and spacious, but didn't any have any tea\coffee facilities. It did have a mini bar though. My bed was two small single beds pushed together but made separately which was a little strange. If you book here I'd recommend requesting a double bed. Breakfast was buffet style with a fair amount of choice.
Hotel Mortensen is situated right at the center of Malmö - there are lots of shops, restaurants and bars right outside the door. The hotel building is old and elegant. You can walk from the central railway station the hotel in 10 minutes. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was fine. The room thar I was given was clean and comfortable, but rather small. It was fine for a short stay. The price was very fair indeed. I would consider staying there agian.
Reasonable price in a central location. Easy walking distance from the central rail station. Close to shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Pleasant reception staff. Late check out at midday. The buffet breakfast offers a good selection and the opportunity to sample Swedish cuisine as well as more familiar fare. We had a good sized room. Clean and comfortable. It would be better with a small fridge. No tea and coffee making in room but you can grab a free hot drink from the bar area whenever. On shelf behind are disposable cups and covers for drinks on the go. Bear in mind that any event taking place in central Malmo can make a stay here noisy. On our first night, the 10km midnight run took place and the finish line was beside the hotel complete with flashing lights and rock music. Too noisy to sleep until late but we got a great view of proceedings. Usually it's quiet enough to sleep. Pedestrianised streets around hotel. Turn left on leaving hotel to find a great coffee shop - Lilla Kafferosteriet.
This hotel is close to "lilla torget", very central location. It is just a 10 minutes walk from the central station. Near by you have shopping and a lot of restaurants to chose. The hotel have friendly staff and a great breakfast. We stayed in a superior room and the bed was absolutely perfect.
