Stayed here last week with my husband and 15yr old son. We had a two night stay so we could explore Palma, having spent the previous few days in the majorcan countryside. Our whole stay was very good. The reception staff were extremely professional speaking good English when needed but also happy to let us practice our Spanish. Check in process was very smooth. The room was clean, spacious and with a really nice shower and bathroom area. Our first night we watched the sunset from the roof terrace and enjoyed some reasonably priced drinks from the bar. Breakfast buffet was outstanding. The pool area is a decent size, clean and well maintained. In July it was a little too exposed to the sun but I would imagine the rest of the year, this is not a problem. The bus to central Palma runs from just up the road and costs €1.50per person, one way. It runs until late so easy for going into town and eat and drink if you want. The only downside to our stay was a mildly rowdy stag party also in the hotel but this could happen anywhere. I think this is a great place to stay for families like ours, it would also be a great spot for a couples break or for two friends wanting to catch some sun. I would strong recommend this hotel.
Stayed in a small single room at last minute. It was as small as the picture. However stayed the day eating on the pool patio area and had the best food and service for a very low price (especially if £ to Euro exchange was better). Every plate of food that came out looked amazing. If you're in the area I'd fully recommend lunch.
We notified the hotel that we would be arriving late due to a flight issue. When we arrived, at almost 2am, it took the receptionist almost 30 mins to check us in. Not an issue ordinarily, but we have two daughters aged three and six. There was no attempt to speed the process up. In 20 years of travel I have never seen his before. Why on earth does it tak so long? Would not recommend at all.
I booked six rooms at this hotel for a girls trip for my 50th birthday 8 months ahead of our mid-May trip. It ticked boxes on location, price and size of hotel. The rooms were small but comfortable/functional enough and the balconies are tiny but the pool and public areas are very nice. Breakfast is exactly the same every day but there is a decent choice of fruit, cereal, meats, cheeses, egg and bacon. There were enough loungers during our visit and 3 comfortable cabanas day beds that cost 25 euros including a bottle of cava and a fruit platter. This is the first time I’ve paid extra for something like this so, that was a little odd as was the 20 euro deposit required for a threadbare beach towel but, all in all we were happy. Unfortunately, my long anticipated special birthday trip started off very badly due to the receptionist causing unnecessary confusion about the booking. I really do not know how somebody could mess everything up quite so badly from the price, to the passport numbers to the names and the rooms. Having booked the hotel 8 months previously and been in contact with the hotel directly to ensure that we had seaviews with balconies, I was told on arrival that only one room had a seaview and balcony. But, it wasn’t even the case! The receptionist just screwed it all up. Eventually, I had to write the rooming list up myself! Luckily, I had arrived the evening before to ensure that all was OK but these first 90 minutes reduced me to tears and it was all so unnecessary. When I arrive, I initially enquired if the rooms were all on the same floor but it turned out that we were in separate buildings and scattered. It wasn’t a huge deal in the end but having booked so far in advance, this shouldn’t have been the case. The next day, sensible people were on reception, I moved rooms and all seemed OK but once this girl was back on reception later and as my friends gradually arrived I found out that check-ins were taking 45 minutes. I later found out that two friends were told there was no room for them, people had to return with their passports again and over the next few days it transpired that I no longer existed as one of my friends was named twice. Even the comp bottle of cava which was sent to my room (maybe for my birthday or maybe an apology) was addressed to my friend and not me and this caused problems at breakfast every day. Even on the last night, when the pre-booked taxi arrived to take one of the group to the airport this receptionist said it was not her taxi. Because we now knew the receptionist was unreliable, my friend went out, took the taxi and got her flight. We had also asked if there was any restaurants nearby to have pasta, she shrugged her shoulders and said she didn’t think so but our two separate groups on that evening ate great pasta! This receptionist is letting a great little hotel down badly. I mentioned it to both of the managers and they seem to be aware. Certainly, the other members of staff are aware and I feel sorry for them that they are having to deal with the fall-out. It was otherwise a great stay.
I do not even have the will to write a review about this place. Service is total disaster, rooms are like for hobbits, location is a big minus. NOT A RECOMMENDADTION IF YOU ARE GOING TO ENJOY MALLORCA!
Just returned from a very brief 2 night stay here and we will be back. It was perfect for the weekend we wanted. There is a very nice pool area with beds, loungers and parasols, it got busy but never felt it was a problem to get a seat. There is a lovely shaded terrace for meals and drinks. You will need to pay a deposit to get a towel for the pool or beach. The rooms are clean and not huge but we were barely in them so it was fine. Good bathroom and excellent shower. The sea views were lovely if you were on that side of the building. We were greeted with lots of smiles and a welcome drink on the first evening. The bar staff in particular just could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable and really helpful with booking taxis etc. We were a bit concerned the area would be a bit too residential but it was perfect, 2 minutes to a beautiful beach with lots of beach bars and excellent restaurants where the prices were almost half of central Palma. We went in by taxi to Palma which cost 15 Euros and walked back which took an hour at a gentle stroll. Lots of places to stop and have drinks if you wanted. The meal in Palma was very disappointing, really touristy and so expensive. The meals at the restaurants near the hotel were much better and so much better value. 13 euros for a bottle of house wine compared to 24 euros in palma centre. We enjoyed an early meal at 5pm round the corner taxi at 7 and at the airport by 7.15
This hotel is out of Palma but there is a promenade on the front where you could walk all the way into Palma. It was so hot that we used taxis. There is a good pool and seating area and the beach is only a short stroll away. Two supermarkets are very close to the hotel .Some rooms are very small with no outlook it is well worth booking a sea view room.We had a few snacks at lunch time by the hotel pool and excellent quality and choice.
This is my second stay at UR Portofino (my first was a long weekend with my partner in August 2016). I returned as myself and two friends wanted a chilled beach holiday and the beach is a minutes walk from the hotel. We had a family room (no.119) which was in fact the same as I previously stayed in. Clean and simple, small balcony with no views really. I would not recommend this room if you are after sea views you would need to be on the opposite side of the building on probable the top two floors. Be warned that the hotel isn't soundproofed like others may be so if like me you are a light sleeper don't forget the earplugs. Though it is in a quiet area so on the plus side no load club base keeping you up. Breakfast was a simple continental with enough options for my taste and it was restocked throughout the service. We ate at the hotel one in the evening and were very happy with the quality and flavours of the meal. They do lovely cocktails to be enjoyed on the terrace. Very reasonably priced drinks. The hotel do offer a complimentary freshen up room for after you have checked out which is great if you have a late flight and want a beach day. Great restaurant right near the hotel called El Bungalow. Perfect seafood and views looking to Palma I would recommend staying here for a long weekend as it is next to a lovely beach frequented by the locals and nice little restaurants and is a quick taxi ride into Palma.
The room was basic and very small, and quiet providing you are not above the bar.The hotel is in walking distance to the beach and has a small swimming pool situated between the two buildings of the same hotel.
This is a wonderful location if you're looking to relax and spend some time at the beach! However, we wouldn't rush back to the hotel. Our shower leaked so badly that it flooded the bathroom floor and our mini fridge was so hot, I burned my hand on it. We're not usually ones to complain but these little things add up when you're exhausted. The decor however was nice as well as the pool and bar area.
