This hotel is out of Palma but there is a promenade on the front where you could walk all the way into Palma. It was so hot that we used taxis. There is a good pool and seating area and the beach is only a short stroll away. Two supermarkets are very close to the hotel .Some rooms are very small with no outlook it is well worth booking a sea view room.We had a few snacks at lunch time by the hotel pool and excellent quality and choice.
This is my second stay at UR Portofino (my first was a long weekend with my partner in August 2016). I returned as myself and two friends wanted a chilled beach holiday and the beach is a minutes walk from the hotel. We had a family room (no.119) which was in fact the same as I previously stayed in. Clean and simple, small balcony with no views really. I would not recommend this room if you are after sea views you would need to be on the opposite side of the building on probable the top two floors. Be warned that the hotel isn't soundproofed like others may be so if like me you are a light sleeper don't forget the earplugs. Though it is in a quiet area so on the plus side no load club base keeping you up. Breakfast was a simple continental with enough options for my taste and it was restocked throughout the service. We ate at the hotel one in the evening and were very happy with the quality and flavours of the meal. They do lovely cocktails to be enjoyed on the terrace. Very reasonably priced drinks. The hotel do offer a complimentary freshen up room for after you have checked out which is great if you have a late flight and want a beach day. Great restaurant right near the hotel called El Bungalow. Perfect seafood and views looking to Palma I would recommend staying here for a long weekend as it is next to a lovely beach frequented by the locals and nice little restaurants and is a quick taxi ride into Palma.
The room was basic and very small, and quiet providing you are not above the bar.The hotel is in walking distance to the beach and has a small swimming pool situated between the two buildings of the same hotel.
This is a wonderful location if you're looking to relax and spend some time at the beach! However, we wouldn't rush back to the hotel. Our shower leaked so badly that it flooded the bathroom floor and our mini fridge was so hot, I burned my hand on it. We're not usually ones to complain but these little things add up when you're exhausted. The decor however was nice as well as the pool and bar area.
We had a great time here. The hotel is very close to the beach. Service was excellent both on reception and in the restaurant ( thank you Emmanuel and Renate and your mum !). The food was delicious. There were also plenty of places to eat nearby (we recommend the steakhouse next door ) . The pool was cold because we were early in the season but refreshing and we still managed to swim and relax on the sun beds. We did not notice the sound of planes passing by. We caught a bus to Palma and went on a trip to the caves of drach which we enjoyed. There is a mini supermarket and pharmacy just across the road. We had a standard double room with a balcony. Yes it wasn't huge but it was fine for us and spotlessly clean . Free wifi was good. We could have done with a couple more sockets and maybe a kettle in the room but otherwise it was perfect and we would come again .
Arrived early to welcome receptionist who checked us in and put cases in a secure place until room was ready. Lovely reception and bar area. Great tea/coffee menu at sensible prices. Area overlooked pool which looked inviting with shaded area for drinks. Arrived back to check into room but were then advised by new reception staff that although we had paid for sea view room there wasn't one available as they were full. We had not been told this was an issue in the morning. Agreed to view a family room with separate terrace area and suggested as they told us they only had this room that they include breakfast to compensate for us having paid for sea view etc. This suggestion was not approved and they suddenly had a sea view room! Naughty. Terrace area of family room did not have any furniture so would not have been able to be used for sitting out. Sea view room small but had all relevant amenities and great sunny view with sliding door to provide a feeling of outdoors. Inconsiderate residents meant sleepless night from one till four but no noise audible from other rooms so soundproofing generally ok. Breakfast was 12euro per person and was disappointing. Had stayed in cheap hotel at start of holiday and can honestly say their buffet kicked this one off the park. Yes there was bacon and scrambled egg but bacon very fatty and egg dried up. No tomatoes or other cooked food. Continental meats either looked dried out or slimy. Coffee and tea from a machine produced doubtful looking beverage. Not worth the money paid. Lovely environment, ok breakfast, doubtful room allocation practice mean I can't give five stars. Shame.
Stayed in 5 different 4* hotels for 2 nights each during a 10 day fly drive around the island. This hotel was easily the worst of the 5 (Iberostar Jardin del sol, Las Gaviotas Spa, Aparthotel Soller beach, Sensimar Cala Ratjada). Room was small and in poor condition, breakfast was not what you would expect. This is a fair 3* hotel at best.
My wife and I stayed here at the beginning of April, the hotel is nicely located for the beach and some nice restaurants. Palma can be reached by a nice 30 minute stroll along the sea front. The hotel pool area is small but a nice place to chill with a book soaking up the sun, however the constant cooking smell that filled the pool area made me feel sick after an hour. On the first day we got there, there were 20 or so sun loungers around the pool area and day two there were only 10 sunloungers but they had replaced the loungers they removed with cabanas which you had to pay 25 euros to use. The rooms were small but nicely decorated, but no tea or coffee in the room. Drinks in the hotel were expensive. There are a lot nicer hotels for the money.
Many thanks to Sonya and her colleagues on reception yesterday for allowing us to leave our luggage and booking us taxis. Looked a lovely and very welcoming hotel. When we come back to Palma we will definitely chose your hotel. Highly recommended. Located steps awAy from a pretty beach with turquoise wAter. Food menu also looked delicious.
W My husband andI just wanted a quiet cheap break and Santa Ponca and the Portofino fitted the bill perfectly. The hotel is centrally located and is only minutes from the beach, town buses and supermarkets. The hotel staff are very friendly and the apartments are spotlessly clean only down side is the hotel is on a slight hillside and would be unsuitable for people less mobile I would not hesitate to book this hotel again we had a great 10 days here.
