We stayed here from the 1st of June to the 8th of June 2016 as a family. Our room was lovely and clean, 2 beds in front room & a king size bed upstairs. Bedding changed every couple of days & apartment cleaned too. Staff were lovely & friendly. We were self catering which was nice, as you get to walk around the area & see a lot. There is a lovely beach at the bottom of the hill which was like our own little beach. A train which takes you all over, which my son enjoyed.we didn’t eat in the restaurant so say say about that but we did order chips at the pool side, which every time were lovely. The pool was lovely & even nicer having some lounges in the water, which was very refreshing. I had my 6 year old son with me & he meet some lovely friends & played happily in the pool most days. There was a female lifeguard that was very rude & not very approachable.. There was free WiFi but with everyone trying to use it, made it slow at times. You could pay 5 euros for the telly remote which we did one evening with a very tired child but you got the money back when you returned it. Jacuzzi on the roof but was only on until 6pm in the evening. (Pufect place for some good sun). Staff were lovely & helpful, hotel lovely & clean. Lift in entrance of hotel but that only took you couple of floors up, so with a child who needed the tolled very quickly that was a little difficult carrying him & the stairs to the top floor. Overall family enjoyed the holiday & would happily. Return again.
I stayed here with my husband and two children! We had a fantastic holiday and would recommend these apartments! The room it’s self was lovely! Very clean. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier. We arrived at about 10 at night and the receptionist give us our key straight away, and said we could fill out paperwork in the morning which was great with two young children.
Loses a star for lack of parking and not many power sockets. Apart from that it was perfect. Really good price at under £300 for 8 nights. The apartment is compact but has everything we needed . We ate out in the evening but had lunch and breakfast in the apartment. We had a room on ground floor by the pool, which was perfect. Rooms have been refurbed and the bed is huge. We had a couple of small issues but they were promptly fixed . Pool was a bit cold but Cala Gran beach was great and loads of nice restaurants. Overall Cala d'or is one of the best resorts we have been to . Highly recommended.
In short, this hotel is clean, in a great location, has friendly staff and is cheap. Plus free WiFi which is pretty consistent and not too slow by hotel standards. Location: The hotel is in the middle of everything you would possibly need, plenty for kids around. Less than 5 minutes away from the beach, which is gorgeous and clean. Plenty of shops and restaurants. Rooms: Clean and modern, the maids came in every other day to change towels and make the bed. The kitchen was perfectly adequate for us as we ate out but plenty of crockery and cooking utensils should you need to stay in. The only complaints were the water pressure and hot water. There is only enough for two quick showers so bear this in mind if you have children. Pool: As we stayed at the end of October the pool was freezing but was clean. The sunbeds are not allowed to be reserved and guests actually listened which was nice. The highlight was the rooftop garden area with hot tub which was lovely and quiet and got sun all day long. Food: We were bed and breakfast and I must say the vegetarian cooked breakfast isn't much to shout about, can't comment on the meat, although there was a lot of choice. The continental however was nice and there are fresh juice and coffee machines. Restaurants: I would highly recommend the Italian restaurant behind the hollywood bar, the staff are amazing and the food is pretty nice. The ice cream place opposite is just heaven (Cala D'Ice). For any vegetarians, the Bio Treff is amazing and is a short walk away and well priced. (Google it) Shops: The shop attached to the hotel is a rip off and half of the stock is missing. There are plenty of Spar's within walking distance, if you turn left out of the hotel there is one at the end of the road. Excursions: There are plenty around and all reasonably priced, plenty can booked through reception. Our favourite was the Kayaking which we booked through Nemar, you just need to email them a day before. (And be prepared to carry the kayaks - only 100m) Charges: Just an FYI - safe is €15 for a week and a €5 deposit. There is a €5 deposit each for the TV remote, the hairdryer and the iron if needed. The only problem we had with this hotel was the day before check out. We received a letter through the door telling us the hotel was shutting at 3pm. Great we thought, as our transfer wasn't getting there until 5pm. However, we spoke to reception and they allowed us to keep our room until we were due to leave and we exited the hotel through the back door. They also informed us that they had a sister hotel next door and should we need anything between 3 and 5 we could use that.
My wife booked an apartment here for the week for the October half term for around £400 including buffet breakfast. This was for a one bed apartment two adults one 4 year old and a one year old. The apartment had a decent sized fridge, microwave, oven and two ring hob and bathroom had a bath and shower. There was a decent selection at breakfast and the staff were friendly, apartment got cleaned twice in a week and was well-furnished. We were on the ground floor facing the pool so could get to it easily and the bar was next to the pool for drinks. Restaurants and shops were all within walking distance as was the Cala Gran beach which was brilliant for the kids. Cala D'Or was an easy drive from Palma airport, less than an hour and the weather when we were there was mid 20s every day so perfect for the kids. Would recommend for families.
My 11 year old daughter & I have just returned from a self catering week at this hotel. Wowww what can I say apart from you would be mad to miss an opportunity to stay here. Self catering Hotel room (studio) was immaculate, very spacious, light, airy & well furnished. The hotel, pool & hotel surrounds were also well maintained. My daughter has severe anaphylactic allergy to nuts & eggs. We ate in Hotel restaurant on several occasions & the Chefs & staff were extremely helpful in accommodating her dietary needs & requirements, nothing was too much trouble for them. In fact on several occasions they cooked her items just for her. I highly recommend this hotel & would love to return here again soon. It suit young & old alike.
Lovely apartments and pool close to beach , can't comment on food as we went self catering , wouldn't of liked to go all inclusive as no entertainment at all day or night , lots of bars and restaurants all around
Brilliant holiday yet again. Booked already for next year although not too impressed with the increase in price of £400 for the Saturday we usually go for! We are going slightly earlier next year to compensate. However on top of the Island Tax doubling next year we might have to consider not going to Majorca in the future at all ☹
Sol cala d ior apartments are lovely and very central.brilliant pool and plenty of sunbeds. Would be great if it had entertainment in the evenings.great amusement park behind apartments. Irish bar on up from amusement park really cheap and good laugh
