I have recently stayed here with my husband and toddler. We stayed for 7 nights and had the all inclusive plus package. The room itself was modern and spacious and perfect for what we needed. However are TV did not work (luckily we don't really watch the TV on holiday) we requested that this was fixed and a maintenance man came out to look at it, fixed it and then it broke again. We also had problems with the fridge. Another issue was with the Air Conditioning. It worked on a sensor so at night time when everyone was asleep it went off, this wasn't ideal as the room became very warm. When me mentioned this to Reception the lady on there said it was a something that "they are working on". I left out two bathrobes to be changed after a couple of days but housekeeping ignored this for 3 days and left the used ones. When our beach towels were removed from our room as they were wet it was hard work to get two new ones from house keeping. They said the correct route was to exchange them at the pool and it was a lot of effort for them to give us two new ones even though it was their mistake. The Nespresso machine that was included as part of the all inclusive plus package was ok but the pods provided were not Nespresso and we had to request that more pods as only 3 were provided and then not replenished. The buffet food was nice and had quite a lot of variety and the Veri Snack Bar was also nice. I probably wouldn't have paid the prices if we weren't all inclusive. The Picco Restaurant was actually closed which we not informed of prior to our holiday and this was then held at the Veri Snack bar in the evening which then meant that we couldn't get snacks in the evening. I don't want it to look like that I am very picky but it was just a collection of problems/issues that I didn't expect. The pool area is very small for the number f rooms. It was always extremely busy and very loud. As we don't use the pool this wasn't really an issue for us. The entertainment at night went on until 11pm and the music was very loud some nights, almost unnecessary. You could hear it in our room and it was loud so I imagine it would have been awful for those rooms overlooking the pool area. Overall the hotel itself was nice and modern and has so much potential and is in a good location. There are just areas which need some real improvement especially with house keeping and facilities in the room.
The select apartments where great .only problem was the noise from the pool .so advise if given a room by the pool say no.now on our first morning at 7 oclock am i went too the terrace and what i saw was people putting there beds out and towels on them .one group put 20 beds along side the pool every morning .we never got near or on the pool nor the bar or restaurants .in the end we found a lovely place called tropical garden free use of pool as long as you buy drinks and food we spent all our days there rather than stay at the hotel no fighting for beds .when we asked to use the adults only cabanas they wanted 30 euros a day .this place if you have kids not bad but be prepared to get up early if you want a bed.would i return no. As said we ended up just using the room to sleep in and spent our entire holiday outside it .and as for what they call a beach tiny and its the same there no beds .this hotel has no views whatever but the whole area is the same just white buildings everywhere .so if your looking for a relaxing holiday do not book here . Photos where taken 7am
Rooms are modern and clean, the staff are very friendly and welcoming and the pool area was good for little ones. The location is ideal, with the centre of Cala D'Or and Cala Gran beach just a few minutes walk away. Ideal for an easy holiday with a toddler, that still has plenty to offer for grown ups.
We booked here at beginning of the year after seeing the accommodations central location, it's offering of self catering (which are finding harder and harder to find these days) and the fact it had recently been renovated. First impression we're fantastic, glass of Cava on arrival, bellboy to bring and carry suitcases to the room and we got what we asked for, high floor, pool view, upgraded room. The room itself was fantastic, lovely and modern, a bed that could fit 3 grown adults in it, massive living room/sofa with TV and even a PS3 if you wanted and adequate space and utensils in the kitchen which was great as we are self catering. In comparison to what you get in Greece which is where we usually travel, this certainly was an upgrade! It's location is perfect, less than 5 minutes to the beach and 5 minutes walk to centre of Cala D'or where lots of shops, bars and restaurants are located! However, this hotel is purely set up for families and due to this, not a suitable hotel for a couple like us who want to sit and relax quietly around the pool. After 2 days sitting around the pool, we have left each morning to either sit by an alternative pool, go to the beach or explore other areas using the car we hired. Awaking as different times between 7:30-9am, 75% of sunbeds are taken with reserved towels on them. You'll be lucky to find a space let alone a sun bed by 9am which means your close together like sardines. The pool and surrounding area is nowhere big enough for the amount of people staying in the complex. We purposely travel in June as to avoid school holidays. We like a more peaceful holiday and as we don't have children yet, usually at this time of year I would expect a few children but nowhere near as many as there is here. We travelled later than usual in June due to special birthday celebrations in the U.K. and therefore hit the Scottish summer holidays but also children, of which man are of school ages in both U.K and from other European countries. We underestimated the number of families that would travel at this time of year as usually there's a few which we can deal with but not this time. The pool is so loud, even with music in headphones you can't fail to hear it, your really packed in and children running around everywhere. I love children but until I have my own, I want to be able to relax and enjoy my holidays, I've been unable to do this at this hotel, hence the reason we now go elsewhere during the day and use the apartment as only a base for sleeping, eating breakfast and sometimes lunch and somewhere to get changed. If your a family, or if I had my own this would be great...maybe even a bit too busy for me personally but you can see the entertainment staff work really hard. I dread to think what it's like here in August if it's as busy and loud as it is in June! You'll need to set the alarm for 6:30 if you want a sunbed! To summarise, lovely renovated hotel/apartments, perfect for families with younger children but would AVOID if your a couple who want a little peace, quiet or relaxation....you won't get this here!
Just experienced our first family holiday abroad with our 2 girls (18 months & 4 years) and would strongly recommend as we loved it. The management team were very attentive and had it sussed in keeping a clean hotel with friendly staff. The food was quality and our girls loved dancing with froggy most nights!
Massive apartment.Great breakfast.Lots of activities.Couldnt fault.Lunch in the pool bar was lovely. The apartments are really central next to Cala Gran beach with loads of restaurants and shops close by.
Firstly the hotel itself , it's rooms dm decor are superb. After many years travelling to Greece and Cyprus which we love the rooms are a definite upgrade . We are self catering however lots of provision for this in the room. Most guests seem to be all inclusive . We are only dissatisfied with the amount of noisy children at the hotel and the small noisy swimming pool . The pool has no spare loungers by 9am. People wrestle and fight for the best spots even tho pool towels are not Available until after 10 am. Also the pool is not big enough for all guests , many reserve beds all day and use for 10% of the time . We always travel in June to avoid the main uk holidays . We travelled independently and booked the hotel direct .everything in this hotel is centred around children . We were not expecting this and loud noise And screaming is non stop 9-5 . This is fine if the hotel and tour operators mention this to dis swayed couples from booking . Also some parents leave kids to run amock until midnight whilst consuming themselves in all inclusive drinks . I'm already looking forwards to beach days in our 11 night stay. We will not let it spoil our holiday but unless your a family think again
We shared a bus with another family to the hotel and it was their 2nd time visiting as they loved it so that was a good start! We arrived pretty late but were greeted with prosecco, water or pineapple juice and the ladies in reception could not have been more helpful or friendly, offering my 2 little boys (6 and 4) extra water and explaining all we needed to know. We had our bags taken to our apartment even carried up every flight off stairs (top of the block) for us which was very much appreciated whilst we sorted the boys and were tired from travelling. The room was lovely, bright clean and airy. Our room had THE biggest bed and was reaally comfortable. The boys bed was a sofa bed but very sturdy and comfy. Good wardrobe space and clean decent sized bathroom. In fact clean is a good word for the whole place, everywhere was very clean including the pool area which was cleaned every morning. The fridge was super cold (in fact I froze a can of pop and some yoghurts in the back there until I realised) but that was great - I like a cold fridge lol! Nice view from our balcony too and pretty quiet. The pool was great, shallow pool big pool and a little splash pool with slides etc in a separate bit. Having read lots of reviews I was worried it would be far too small and you'd never get a lounger but even though towels were out crazy early, which is a annoying and inconsiderate, we never had a problem getting loungers for all 4 of us - and it was half term. If you're there late you probably would and I hate to be up in the room wasting good weather so we were there for 9ish but it wass quiet when we got there so wouldn't have been full until a bit later. There were always spare loungers in a pile you could get out and find a wee space. There was a cute wee van for hot dogs, burgers, crepes and waffles throughout the day but also a pool side eating area for more substantial meal. I had an hour in the spa on the 1 day of rain we had (had to cheer myself up somehow!!) and it was lovely and good value for 10€ I thought. I would definitely have gone again but once the sun was back I couldn't miss a whole hour of it!!! 🌞🌞 The animation team worked tirelessly with a good selection of activities for all. My youngest did some pool games and circus bingo and my eldest was made up with the frequent arranged football matches (he's 6 and scrawny although football mad and there was no problem playing with a mix of ages and adults if anyone is worried about that, very leisurely and fun) and also tried water polo which was a first for him and my husband. My hubby tried rifle shootling which he was terrible at which did nothing for his competitive edge so he redeemed himself at archery. There was yoga, pilates and all sorts of other things as well. Wasn't in your face but it was there and the girls were great with the kids with big smiles and remembering their names whenever we saw them. There was evening entertainment which we watched a couple of times and was quite good We were self catering so can't comment really on the food. You can buy vouchers for any meal at reception and eat there which we did for breakfast on the very 1st day whilst we sussed out supermarkets (plenty really close, all spar!) and there seemed to be a good choice but it was expensive to do that as a paying guest for what we ate. Location: perfect! We were in the back block so the beach was literally down the stairs and across the road. Main restaurant area was 5 mins walk with loads of choice but at the same time it doesn't feel like you're right in the midst of loads of other hotels and feels almost a little set back. Cala D'or is a great family resort as well. All in all genuinely can't fault it, wouldn't return but only for the simple reason the world is big and we don't like to go to the same place twice! Otherwise would have no hesitation and would definitely recommend.
Stayed here with Thomas Cook, very clean, tidy, friendly staff. Beware if you have small children as the outer edge of the pool slopes in toward the water. We stayed self catering, no kettle in the room, asked at reception for one but it never came. On check out we returned the safe key expecting our 20 euro deposit, bizarrely we were told that we would have to return the 3 pool towels to reception to get our deposit back. Luckily we had left them in the bathroom of our apartment, so we were able to go back and get them. Never ever had to return pool towels to reception on check out! Thomas Cook customers..... One word of warning the shuttle bus to collect us had a totally different number on it from the one Thomas Cook printed in its resort guide (in reception), to make matters worse the driver spoke no English and only had a piece of paper that told him to pick up "tres persona"
Reasonable hotel very friendly welcome with a glass of bubbly and carried luggage to room , nice and clean in the room , plenty of free toiletries which was really nice , great cleaning services not a massive room but adequate for us as a base. Restaurant looked ok but never used as we were always out and about , no real complaints all in all very nice
