+ Location + One smaller pool away from animation-team and kids + Friendly staff + Food + Cleaning - LINES! Oh my god. 2 persons serving the whole hotel with drinks, which results in HUGE LINES, taking forever to get a drink. Why do they close the "self help" soda and beer taps after dinner???? Would decrease the lines MASSIVELY! Doesn't feel very "all inclusive". And during daytime you only have one bar open by the main pool, causing even more lines. Why can't we serve ourself drinks, like at most all inclusive hotels? Much more effective! - NO AIRCON! Have to sleep with windows open, resulting thousands of mosquitoes. - TOILETS! You demand the guests to sit at the main pool (since you close the bar at the small pool at 6PM????) and stand in line forever for drinks, and then only offer one toilet at the ladies room by the lobby, resulting in even more lines! You need more toilets around the pool area, for sure!!! - VERY loud restaurang. - VERY annoying minidisco, being too long and loud. - Uncomfortable beds. Overall not happy. Choose another hotel.
Friendly staff towards the children. Pretty hotel. Food is served at the neighbor hotel but the Quality of the food is poor and would not recommend the all in solution. The Swimmingpools are either 40cm deep or minimum 140cm deep so not too child friendly. Cleaning of the room was lacking very much. Many Germans at this hotel and staff will either address you in Spanish or German. Location of the hotel was fine.
We book a room for four people but there were only two beds ready. The equipment of the kitchen was too basic and we couldn't wash because there weren't the staff to do that. We are from Spain, and everybody in the hotel is from abroad. Because of that hotel stuff was looking at us all the time like if we weren't customers and we were cheating them. To be fair I would like to add that the garden and swimming-pool are huge and charming, but we are not going back here anymore.
Really enjoyed our weeks break with our two year old toddler. Loved the hotel, friendly staff especially the entertainment team, they really made it special for my little one, even though he was a little too young for some of the activities, everything he did take part in with myself and my husband he enjoyed and knew the staff and hugged one of the members when he was saying goodbye. We will definitely stick to the quieter palm garden especially with a young toddler who does still nap in the day time. some small niggles, our two year old was able to open the door to let himself out and we didn't want him 'escaping' to go jump in the pool! the apartment was lovely And clean when we arrived, it said on the hotwl i fo leaflet that the aprtnent is cleaned every tuesday and thursday, however in the entire time we were there our apartment had not been cleaned, bins hadnt been changed or new towels given. With a toddler still in nappies we were changing the bins ourselves and were asking the chamber maids when we saw them for new towels, we would help ourselves to the loo rolls on the trolley outside. Not pleased about that part. it was something we wanted to speak to management about but with little one it was missed off our things to do list. This didn't spoil the fact we had a wonderful holiday with the most beautiful beach a few mins away. The main hotel was fine to walk to. Took us about 3 minutes walking through the gardens, we were in room 9010 snd it was a lovely stay.
Palm Garden is located across a small street from the main hotel/resort - Alcudia Garden. All main activities (eating, entertainment late bar etc) are located at Alcudia Garden, as described in the brochure. Advantages of Palm Garden (over Alcudia Garden): Quiet (still a little traffic noise, but not much noise from the evening entertainment) Not as crowded Disadvantages: Bar closes at 18:00 The rooms were ok. Beds good. The staff was very friendly Pools were nice and clean. Would I go again? Yes, if the price is right. :-)
This was terrible for the money we paid for it, which was €5400 for 15 days, all-inclusive, in late July/early August. We had a 3 room appt in the building across the street from the main building (Palm Garden). The palm garden bar closes at 18:00 forcing you to go to the main building for a drink. This wouldn’t be a problem if there were enough tables and chairs for all the guests, but there aren’t during the main season, so you either have to go elsewhere and pay for your drinks or just stand there all night. The swimming pools are kept well, but all the tanning beds are gone by 7am. So if you want sun beds around the main pool area, you better get up early. Luckily there’s a beautiful beach nearby. The rooms are old, small and not very well kept. There’s often no water pressure or warm water after 6pm. The beds are horrible, no other word for it, really. Very cheap, very hard, dirty and dusty... and you can feel the springs in them. If fact, in two of our mattresses the springs actually came through the fabric. We heard similar complaints from other guests, so I don’t think it was just our room. It was hell having to sleep there, but the lobby staff said that there was nothing they could do. All rooms were booked, so we couldn’t get another room. Crazy. Our airconditioning was broken. We reported it 5 times over two weeks, every time the maintenance guy came over and did, well, basically nothing. He measured the temperature, noticed the air coming from the airco was 30ºC and left. We had to keep all doors and windows open to get some fresh air, but there were so many mosquitos there, and no screens in front of the windows, so you were eaten alive. After a few times he discovered the incredibly filthy airco filter (yuck, we actually breathed air that came through that filter) but finally after 10 days they came to the conclusion that the airco unit was broken. In the second week the heat got so bad in Mallorca, and in our apartment, that I made a huge fuss in the lobby. Apparently this helped, because finally, on the 12th day of our vacation the air condition was working. Too bad we only had 2 and a half days of our vacation left at that point. The food is pretty bad: stale bread, everything that is so supposed to be fresh: cucumber slices, grated carrots, lettuce etc, is dried out and tastes old. The rest is greasy and unhealthy, frozen fish that is overcooked, things like that. Mainly there’s pasta and French fries. But there are plenty of great restaurants in the area, so this shouldn’t be a problem. Just don’t take the all-inclusive, pick up your own bread for lunch and breakfast and go to restaurants at night. Another annoyance was that the all-inclusive guests were served other drinks than paying customers. Cocktails barely contained alcohol and the drinks were brandless, cheap alcohol. Keep that in mind! The dining room only has 1 soda machine, so there’s quite a line in front of that as well. Also, they don’t always turn on the airconditioning during meals, so it can get hot in there. The staff (except for some of the lobby staff) is very friendly and are great with children. The beds are made and you get fresh towels 5 times a week, but there's little to no cleaning in those two weeks. The animation team is wonderful, but mainly for children (and the focus lies on the many German guests). There’s no live music or anything for the adults at night, so the evenings can be quite boring. As soon as the airco was working we noticed that the moment you opened the balcony door, the airco stopped working. So keep in mind that, if you have very small kids, you’ll be stuck in the room as soon as they go to bed, or the apartment will quickly heat up. All in all, this hotel was definitely not worth the money they charge for it. We’ll not be returning here.
We stayed at the Palm Garden resort from the 17th aug to 24th aug 2013. There is another recent review on here from the beginning of August which is quite accurate but I would like to comment on a couple of things. Firstly the sister/main hotel complex is mainly 95% German with very little or no English. The disco in the evening is mainly in German although the music was English a lot of the time. The pools in the main area are clean and busy. All sun loungers were taken by at least 8 o'clock possibly 7. This didn't matter to us as we spend all our time on the beech, why go on a holiday abroad and sit around the pool? As for the palm garden apartments we stayed in room 9002. As per the other review the comments were correct that the balcony was nice and quiet but you are looking at bushes about 3 yards away and on the other side is a road (not that busy though). You cannot fault the surrounding gardens as they are lovely and kept in pristine condition. It's a shame that the cleaning of the apartments are not kept as clean. The apartment was old looking with all old wooden furniture which smelt awful and musky. I had this sort of furniture about 20 years ago when I went there before the children came along. The main bed mattresses were disgusting and had mattress covers on so you couldn't see the mattress. Believe me you would not want to see the mattress. As for the sofa beds in the main room they gave me back ache all holiday. They have been sat on for years and the sponge is so soft you sink in them causing back problems. The rooms were average to bad re cleanliness. Hairs on the bathroom floor in the corner and chipped tiles with dirty grouting and a rusty bath plug area. The kitchen was ok but you have to pay for a toaster and kettle ( about 9 euros with 5 deposit that you get back) . Self catering was better for us due to two little ones who are fussy with breakfast and after seeing the hotel food your better off doing your own breakfast and lunch. The hotel food was geared towards Germans and looked like canteen food. Don't expect good tv's in these rooms as we had a small big back tv with limited channels all in German apart from sky news. Awful for the kids when your getting ready to go out. As per the other review the beech is about a 2 min walk across the main road and the sands are great. However the sea which is clear and child friendly, being the main reason for going there absolutely stunk. This was very disappointing. About 11 years ago I went to Alcudia with my wife to be and the smell was not there. It smells like rotten eggs. Although not really strong all the time it's at least 75 % of the time and if there is no breeze it's a lot worse. On speaking to a life guard he put it down to the hotels. Other locals seemed to dismiss the smell as if not wanting to admit it was there. Restaurants- good up by the harbour. Go to the Oven Resturant, great pizzas and nice staff. Avoid the beech Resturant on the beech as the food was awful. Would i go back to Alcudia? Yes but they need to sort the smell and I'm not sure how they will do that. Would I stay at Palm Gardens again? Yes mainly for location, but a better room next time with 4 beds. Good luck.
We are a family with a 4 year old and we stayed in the yet to be renovated block 9. Whilst I can see that what others have said is true, it did not detract from our holiday at all. Yes, it is furthest from reception, and yes it was a bit tired/dated, BUT everything worked, there was plenty of hot water, maid 5 x per week, and the air con coped brilliantly. We were not disturbed by other guests. We actually liked block 9 in the end because our balcony got the sun from mid-afternoon to early evening (room 9001 if you're interested!) and faced the garden rather than the pool so we got some privacy. Palm garden and Alcudia garden are basically one complex with just a side road in between. We used the pool at the Alcudia garden mostly as it was better for young children. It wasn't a problem for us that we were the only English family there (90% German and Dutch) and our 4 year old danced to the German mini-disco each night with no complaints! We were self catering and just used our little kitchen for breakfast and lunch, which was fine. We ate out very night as you are literally 5 mins from restaurants in the port area. BEST THING: 1 minute walk to the beach! This is why you should stay here. It is literally, out the gate, over the road (busy but zebra crossing) and you are there! We picked this accommodation specifically as it was close to the beach but a tiny bit further to the bars etc so it was quiet. Perfect! TOP TIP: The bus to Alcudia market in the old town on Tuesdays and Sundays drops off right outside the apartments and is only E1.50 each way.
Palm gardens is slightly overshadowed by its higher grade brother next door but that does not mean its not a good place to stay. Rooms are functional but basic and are kept very tidy with service being exceptional. We had basic utensils (cutlery, pan, pots) and two hot rings.
Check in for Palm Garden is in the Alcudia Garden as is entertainment.A short walk through Alcudia Garden and across the road is Palm Garden both areas well light at night.Buildings are three stories with no lifts, well kept grounds small swiming pool and poolside bar Eroskie supermarket one minute walk. Our one bedroom apt was large newly refurbished with a/c in bedroom and living area ,large balcony, large well lit bathroom, bath (for some reason bath was not renewed)) with mixer tap shower no shower gel/soap provided.kitchenette with two electric rings ,microwave, fridge, no kettle.Bedroom full size mirror, two single 3ft beds pushed together, built in sliding wardrobe at one side of bed ,wall on other side leaving floor space of less than one foot either side of bed three foot floor space at end of bed, very akward to move around, a double bed would give more floor space.Plaza tv in living area sky new s& cnn mostly Spanish and German channels...
