This could be an amazing hotel unfortunately the staff and the extra hidden costs let it down drastically. Firstly, the good, excellent location, clean rooms, and a good standard of general decor., Angel, the restaurant manager and his family are wonderful and extremely funny...ask Angel to sing. Secondly, the bad, so many hidden charges, gym €10/day, pool towels €4/day, internet €3-4/day per device so three devices could run you €12/day and it's as slow as molasses, 1 x cup of ice 50c, also free parking = 3 x spaces lol you have to park on the road. Thirdly, the ugly, staff painfully slow and unhelpful they don't make an effort to acknowledge guests or even remember their names, they don't make any effort to interact or ask "how's your day been" or even when asking to recommend places to visit is a drama, very miserable especially the young lady who seems to be there 24/7. In conclusion, this hotel has great potential and if your self sufficient and don't need any assistance then you'll enjoy this location however if you are looking for a more memorable stay, book when the front desk staff have completed a customer service course.
This complex is in the process of being taken over by ona group which was diamond resorts..since coming here since the 80's dramatic changes have happened and not for the good. Having to leave the pool at 6pm, i get this when the life guard is going of duty but parents can take responsibility if children are in pool. Towels hanging over the balconies, this was never been seen before ..its called having high standards which leads to high rewards. I always collect change for the cleaners over the 2 weeks in a bowl after 3 days after the cleaners had been in the change has gone. Items left in the apartment is at your own risk ?? Really so they can help themselves to clothes, food etc 😨
I have just come back from a 10 day stay 26 May to 4 June with my 3 kids, partner and my family as well. We honestly loved every minute at this hotel and would recommend to anyone. We had a spacious 2 bedroom apartment which was gorgeous and had every think we needed. My family had a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment next door which had two floors. Cant fault the rooms or the views at all as they are just gorgeous looking onto the lake. The pools are not very deep but this was fine with us. They are cold but don't really want a hot pool when its 30 degrees. Once your in them you just get use to it and after the heat you really enjoy it. The staff at the hotel were polite and helpful with any questions we had. The onsite restraint run by Angel and his wife was just fantastic and Angel was the nicest man I have ever come across and works incredibly hard to make your holiday perfect. We defiantly wont forget our karaoke nights together or your beautiful food. The area around the hotel is really nice and there is a great supermarket a few minutes walk away and really cheap for buying your every day needs. Lots of bars, restaurants and places to go a short distance away. The beach is about a 15 minute walk with kids but so worth the walk. The sand is pure white with crystal clear water. We ventured into the town from the beach and found some lovely shops and places to have lunch and also enjoyed a horse taxi ride back to the hotel for only 15 euros would defiantly recommend this. Over all we had an amazing time and would defiantly go back. Only thing I would like to see at this hotel is a little music round the pool and a few more nights of entertainment maybe something aimed at kids.
The hotel is in a nice setting overlooking a small lake and approximately 10 minutes walk from the busy beach area. The rooms are well appointed with all rooms overlooking the pool area, Plenty of chairs and shade around the pool, but the pool itself looks a little dated and incredibly cold. Staff are very helpful as indeed are the restaurant personnel. The restaurant was very reasonably priced and would stay open as long as they had customers!! Really enjoyed our stay.
We were 5 adults and a toddler given room 351 on second floor with a lovely balcony overlooking the lake. The view was stunning. The apartment was 3 bedrooms over 2 floors, bedrooms upstairs with bathroom and main bedroom with ensuite and own balcony. Downstairs there was a large living room/diner and open plan kitchen, small utility room with washer and dishwasher and a WC. The downstairs area was very large and comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The shared bathroom was large enough but the shower cubicle was awful! So small if you dropped anything you would need to step out to pick it up. The whole apartment is very much in need of some updating however some apartments had already been refurbished and looked very nice. Staff were very good, caring and helpful and worked hard to sort things out for us when we had a flood caused by very heavy rain. We were given a smaller apartment for one night for the occupants of the affected room whilst it dried and this was more than acceptable to us. Cleaning of the apartment was not great. The floor was not particularly clean when we arrived and apart from two towel/sheet changes there did not seem to have been any other cleaning done while we were there. However other than the floor and balcony the rest of the apartment appeared to have been cleaned before we arrived. The corridors and stairways outside the room were very grubby with sweet wrappers and clumps of dust and hair which were not moved all week, not a great first impression. Pool area is nice with well tended flower beds and plenty of comfortable sun loungers. Towels are provided for 10 euro deposit. The water was cold but seemed to warm up as the week passed, the life guard was very attentive. Nice pool bar run by Angel who seemed to be on duty the whole week. Had lunch a couple of times there and breakfast on the last day, food was ok. The hotel is located around a lovely lake with a couple of other hotels. As stated in previous reviews the entertainment in one of these in particular was extremely loud and did carry on until late but didn’t really bother us (or our 20 month old granddaughter). There is a charge for electricity, 30 euros for the week for us. Free wifi for RCI guests. There were a few nice walks from our hotel to the beach area along the canals. Probably took about 15-20 minutes. Lots of nice bars and restaurants are around and the beach itself is beautiful. Took us about 40 minutes to walk to the old town which was well worth a visit. From there we walked to the Port (about 30 minutes) and after a couple of stops in the beach bars we walked back to the hotel. A good walk but do-able and enjoyable if you are reasonably fit. In all we did enjoy our holiday, the hotel has lots of potential and if the negatives are addressed should be a good place to stay.
The appartment was just great, larger and much more comfortable than I expected actually. Dishwasher, washing machine, big balcony. Pool area opening hours are 10 am to 6 pm so it's nice there in the evening, quiet and calm. Nice cafe and smoothie bar, helpful staff. Had to change the room becuase of the intense smell of onion in the kitchen, and had to pay for the towels, no free wifi as well. But I'd say it's a good deal so I expected to pay extra.
Probably our las visit as no longer Diamond. Enjoyed it as usual but standard has slipped. While we thought before that cleaning was excessive and sometimes intrusive, now it's odd. We had unnecessary change of sheets and towells after 2 nights, then next sheets 6 days later which was fine. We were leaving on Saturday morning so told cleaner not to bother on Friday afternoon, seemed odd timing. The restaurant was good with Angel making us very welcome. Apartment, setting, view cannot be bettered. Didn't appreciate the sales pitch dissing Diamond
Just back from 6 nights at Garden Lago, I booked before Diamond sold to Onu Hotels so I was worried how things would be for members. 3 adults / 3 kids in 2 x apartments . We were allocated on the top floor (6) lovely apartments but with 3 kids most definitely not safe! I was so worried I asked to be moved refusing to accept them. Reception a lovely new girl did her very best to understand my concerns and search for us different apartments near each other. She apologised as a 2nd floor only available and they were not as big !!!! Well they were lovely spacious, and very well equipped overlooking the pool . Not much organised for kids , but there was a small football area and table tennis. Pool Well it didn't open until ten (locked gates??????) and the life gaurds were pacing up and down at 5.30pm wanting you to leave. Well anyone with kids knows that this is possibly the best time of day to use the pool as it's not too hot if you have been out for the day and wanting to swim on return its tough. What's all this about surely even 7 pm is a better time to close and 9 am to open. A large part of holidaying abroad is for the weather and pool I feel Onu Hotels let guests down on this issue. lots of disgruntled guests complaining about this and not just Brits. Food served in on site bar was very good and they offered a takeaway service. One good thing the apartments have a utility room with a washer. No cleaning done, no spare bin bags left and sheets /towel change on the day we were leaving. To sum up no definitely not a Diamond but the staff were caring and I suppose following guidelines but too many inconsiderate restrictions regarding the pool. I think if I ever went back to Alcudia it would be a accomodation nearer the beach.
We stayed in Garden Lago for a week at the end of May. The hotel has 6 floors and each room has a good size balcony with table and chairs. We stayed on the sixth floor which meant we had an additional sun bathing area on the roof, great if you want to get away from kids. The apartment itself was split level, bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs and kitchen and living area upstairs plus washroom and small toilet. Master bedroom had a tv and separate balcony. The bedrooms were decent size but bathrooms were tiny, the shower cabin was so small I had to step out of it to shave my legs. The apartment was semi clean, bit shabby and had a distinctive smell that came in whiffs. The split level means that you have to be careful with small children although the stairs have a gate at the top but not at the bottom. The hotel is based on the outskirts of Alcudia, and it takes 15 min to get to the beach, half an hour with small children. There is a lake in front of the hotel with some water sports and a lovely promenade around it. The area is filled with other hotels, some of them very loud well into the night. The hotel swimming pool is lovely but cold and it closes at 6 for some reason but there is a lifeguard on duty all the time so one can relax. This hotel is great for family holidays if you don't mind cooking as it is self catering only. Overall we had a good time, but I don't think we will be back.
I have just come back from a weeks stay here during the half term, we had a lovely stay, the beds are very comfortable. The apartments spacious, the pool was great although a bit cold(but im a wimp with cold water) the man running the bar and restaurant was very friendly and a credit to the hotel. nice location by the lake and far enough away from any noise but walkable if you want to get in the hustle and bustle. Showers nice and powerful and well equipped kitchen. The only gripe i have was the charge for WIFI(which i did know was extra) you pay a fair bit for WIFI and can only have 1 connection i had to pay for two connections and it added up to over 30 euros for the week. Apart from that i would definitely come back if visiting the island.
