Had a great short break here last week, got a super cheap deal so didn't have great expectations... was more than pleasantly surprised! Arrived after midnight, gentleman on desk was very friendly yet professional, our room (211) was ideal, spacious, clean, comfortable. Good sized bathroom and great shower. Pool area was clean, plenty of loungers available, and plenty of sun! Restaurant was incredible, really good food, and constantly topped up. Drinks were of great quality, and bar staff really friendly. Beach over the road was the best I'd ever been on, beautiful little cove, heaven! Would return here without a doubt, and hope to soon!
Just returned from a 3 day break at Ola Cecilia. It was the first week of their summer season, and there weren't that many of us to begin with, although it did start to fill up as the days went by. Had an absolutely great stay. Food is plentiful,we always found something satisfying to eat. Rooms are basic but clean. Staff were friendly. We met some great people who were there for a short break too. There is a small resort and a beautiful beach close by. There are more shops and a Tuesday market approximately a 30 minuet walk away but it takes you along the marina that is lovely. We got a really good deal when booking this hotel. Couldn't have asked for more for the price. Many people we spoke to had been there several times. Don't expect 4* luxury, but this hotel has a big heart! Would definitely go back.
Booked with Monarch - transfer took over an hour and a half to travel there First impressions that the hotel looks run down, we didn't realise there is the main complex, and apartment blocks across the road also owned by the hotel. Shown our room, an apartment over the road with two single beds halfway across the room with outdated bed sheets, with a pokey kitchen and sofa. Not what we were shown on the Monarch website of a modern room as soon as we walked in we were deflated. The receptionist did offer us a free transfer to the hotel in Palma Nova but didn't chose it as we were here for the location next to the beach cove. So stayed but moved to the room next door which was the same but felt like a fresher start. The location is great if you enjoy lazy beach days and days by the pool, as it is in the middle of no where, we waited 35 minutes for a bus that never turned up 2 days in a row and was very expensive to travel to any excursions. The entertainment staff (two men forgot their names) are very good at getting people involved in activities such as beach volley ball and table tennis and even joined us for drinks on our last night. As for the entertainment on a night, we enjoyed it, always starting with lively kids entertainment then going into adults. We enjoyed the flamenco dancers, karaoke and the animal show, everyone got involved. Breakfast had a good variety such as pasties, cooked eggs/bacon and fruit. however the pastries started to run out later on. Lunch and dinner had similar foods with bread, cakes, cooked meats and vegetables however of poor quality but could always find something we liked. The pool area is nice however only half of the area gets the sun and it was very cold but think its cause we went in September Was a good holiday but not the greatest room to go back to and the hotel is in need of an update and a clean.
I booked this due to putting our honeymoon off for a year. This was just a cheap quiet week away with my partner and didn't expect much for the price and with it only been a 3 star. When we arrived our first impression wasn't very good. Even though we arrived at midnight there was nothing around at all. The next morning we walked out of the hotel for about 3 minutes and found what must be the best beach in Majorca. We then decided to go sit by the pool later in the afternoon and in other hotels we've stayed in it's normal not to have a sun lounger to sit on. This hotel was different there were loads to chose from. Even though it was a busy week for the hotel you didn't have to fight for the loungers which was good. We stayed all inclusive - both myself and my partner have issues with choices in hotels. This is only due to us been limited on what we like and don't like. Every meal there was something we liked so can't fault the food choices available. We had an issue with our room on arrival even though we got the room we booked, but it wasn't great. I went to reception and paid 75 euro's for an upgrade the reception staff were good about it and helped us and we ended up with a lot nicer room which we was happy with. I would not recommend booking a studio apartment it was one of the most basic rooms I have been in. The hotel was clean and all the staff very friendly. Over all would go back to stay again which I'm sure we will in the future and would with the children next time too. The pool is great for kids and there is also a park to play on right next to where we sat so the kids would be safe and in sight at all times. If your looking for a party venue or busy shops and bars this is not the place for you if your looking for quiet and relaxing break then this is perfect for you. We took a taxi to Cala D'or which cost 15 euros and took 10 minutes to get there so had best of both worlds really. Great quiet break will return..
When we arrived at reception we were told there had over booked so they organised taxi to take us to another hotel for one night. They said we would be upgraded to 1 bedroom studio with double bed. The hotel we stayed at JS Cape Colom was also 3 star but superior. Situated on a cliff overlooking sea with lovely view. There was a path down to a small cove. Good food plenty of room in dining room, friendly maitre'd and wine was good. Then we ordered taxi to take us back. ( Which didn't come so after 20 min wait rang them again) A different receptionist gave us keys. Lugged our cases up 2 floors to find we'd been allocated twin rooms. After saying wed been promised double room went back to reception and she gave us different room. So down two sets of stairs and back up another to second floor again. Why did they not just give us that room to start with?? Large 1 bedroom studio with two single beds in lounge plus setee and table. Well equipped kitchen, which is not needed as fully inclusive. Lots of comments about the food at this hotel. I thought it there was lots of choice at each meal. Always salads, different meats. Some traditional food. Really enjoyed rabbit with onions. Vegetables are very overcooked so I never chose them. Food is not very hot. Trays regularly replaced so no disadvantage coming later like in some hotels where food runs out. Wine barely palatable so I topped up with soda. Always fresh fruit available. Evening meal only from 7 to 9. There's a lot of people to get through in that time. Queues outside most days. Wait of about 10 minutes. If they opened at 6.30 it would spread the load. Staff are very efficient in turnaround. Bar is efficient. Again comments about poor quality plastic cups. Makes place feel very down market. Why not get some better quality ones that can be reused. This is not very environmentally friendly. The young bar man should go on customer care course. He preferred talking to friends and colleagues while serving and rarely made eye contact or spoke to customers. Also when he was on duty, the music was loud, not many people were in the bar. Entertainment was ok for 3 star hotel. Yes place is dated, but it would take large investment to upgrade. Beach across the road is great. Blue flag. Buses efficient. Went to Palma about 1hour. Lovely cathedral. Also caves of Drach at Porto Cristo worth a visit.
We stayed here in september this year. Have to say we enjoyed our stay but this hotel was not for us. Other reviews are correct, it is very remote, there is very little around the surrounding areas, to get to anywhere is a bus ride on buses that never run on time. The hotel does need some serious updating. the beach, which is very close by is great. The food was edible, but I would have to say is warm at best, but usually cold. We tried to go in at various times of the service to see if it made a difference but it did not. During our week we were lucky to have any hot food at all. This is a fact not an opinion. One thing we did notice was that it was quiet at breakfast and lunch, but at night times it was packed with people having to wait in queues outside the restaurant. I had no idea where the extra diners came from as very few went into the bar afterwards, in fact the hotel was pretty quiet all day and night other than the evening meal. The bar was excellent, with a good range of alcohol. The barmen were very good, queues were kept to a minimum. I would have to say the staff at the hotel, from receptionist to cleaners, were second to none, I could not complain about any of them. I would recommend this hotel for young familes who are happy to sit around the pool all day or go the nearby beach. I don't think I would recommend it to anyone else.
Arrived late at night had booked a studio apartment to sleep 2/3 people and was given a room with one small bed. Had to argue with receptionist to get new room Rooms are basic and dated but clean and quiet Pool is small and deep Hotel staff very friendly and polite Food edible but not too warm Bad smell of sewers Ants everywhere Basic hotel needs a lot of updating but superb beach two minutes walk away Would not recommend as family holiday but perfect for cheap short break
Four of us arrived here late afternoon to be given two rooms across the road from the main complex. These rooms could only be described as a poor bedsits with ants! On complaining we were offered two identical rooms in the same block and were told there were no other rooms available. On contacting Thomas Cook we were advised nothing could be done till the morning. Making the best of the evening, we had to queue for dinner on a one out one in bases at the restaurant and eventually sat down to a poor selection of food and a tiny tiny glass of wine. We then spent the evening sat outside (drinking to forget) until eleven when the bar closed and doors were locked. The following morning I was contacted by the hotel manager and we were offered rooms at another Ola hotel in Parma Nova. An area we didn't want to go to, but we had to find a better place to stay. Little did we know at the time that this wasn't arranged by Thomas Cook but by the hotel manger herself. We were told by the manager that this hotel is due for a refit so will hopefully improve once done. Can't praise the manger enough for helping us out as we were never contacted by Thomas cook connected services, and talking to them once home, have found out that this hotel had been overbooked for our stay.
We stayed in the apartments at this place and was by far the worst apartment I have ever had. We were upgraded to a studio with a kitchen. Oh my lord i dread to think what the other room would have been like. The kitchen was so old, and the furniture was too. It had a balcony which was a good size and because it was an end room we had a wall separating us from the rest of the landing.(the rest of the apartments were open so no privacy) this was the only good thing I could say on the room. The hotel bar was nice with a lovely clean pool. Not much room for sun bathing though. Can't grumble about the food there was plenty of choice. Snacks were a little disappointing crisps sandwiches and dry cakes. The beach area across the road was beautiful plenty of beds and a couple of bars around. My opinion the out dated apartments let this place down
We had a week here in Sept 2016 and enjoyed our stay very much. Our room was extremely dated and almost tatty, but it was spotlessly clean and towels and linen were changed every few days. The pool was clean with sunbeds available at all times and the public areas and bar were welcoming. Staff were friendly throughout. The restaurant was busy in the evenings and we had to wait to be seated a couple of times, but the food was absolutely brilliant! Lots of choice at every meal and excellent dishes. The all inclusive drinks were good (even the wine in the restaurant was palatable which I couldn't say about some hotels we've been to!) and there were snacks in the bar most of the day. The lovely beach was a very short walk and a Spar shop was handy for bottled water. If you don't care too much about the décor of the rooms, this is a good place for relaxing in the sun! Final note - we booked a transfer with 'Holiday Taxis' and they put us on a 'Trans Union' coach which was full. We got on the bus at 21.30 on Sunday night, expecting around a one hour transfer but we did not get to the hotel until 00.40 - three hours! It was a nightmare as they dropped people off all over the place and there were still others on the bus after we got off! If we had known, it would have been worth paying the £60 some other people had paid for a private transfer!
