Being right on the seafront has its plusses and minuses. On the plus side, the view from our 8th floor room was spectacular. Less positively, the noise from the street and nearby restaurants was uncomfortably loud at night. That's really my only criticism. The staff were friendly and (mostly) very helpful; the recently refurbished Level lounge was very nice and spacious, the spa was excellent; and the ambience of the whole place was really pleasant and relaxing. Admittedly it's a decent walk (about 2km) to the cathedral and old town, but when that walk is alongside Palma's lovely harbour, who's complaining? Just one bit of advice, Melia - please do something about the sound-proofing!
A really pleasant stay. Week flew by. All was as they say "as per brochure". Paid a bit extra for a Level room on 8th floor & along with lounge access, found this to be well worthwhile. As with most executive style lounges then large choice of food & drink. Only point to note was that only food available "post breakfast" was basically bread/sandwiches, fruit & cakes & whilst high quality, probably extended the description "Tapas". As regards breakfast buffet, then we took option of having this in the main restaurant, which we found to be excellent. We used public transport all week, and this was more than sufficient & easily accessible, though if taxi required, then there was a taxi rank situated beside main entrance.
I must admit we stayed last year at the GRAN MELIA VICTORIA just last year and that was excellent so this might be why we ended up not being satisfied with this hotel. I would probable choose the other hotel again next time as i believe its so worth the extra money. Lets begin with the posivite: we flew in very early and were extremely exhausted so it was so nice they let us check in very early in the morning, we where so lucky they had our room ready early! The lobby was way too cold with the airco working too hard and we found it not cosy too, we never had a drink at the bar as it felt like sitting in a cold shopping center....we used the outdoor pool bar for our daily mojito (a very good one - i recommend it). We didn't like the new renovated rooms esp as they REMOVED all the bathtubs in the hotel and i really need one to relax every day, i hate showers and there is a glass wall between the bathroom and sleeping area with a curtain where you can see through the silhouet not nice if you are staying with friends. Beds where not as comfortable as the other melia. Sadly we never slept even a day well, soo much noise from outside the hotel, and also the cleaning lady vacuming at 8 o" clock outside our room.....also little rooms. and this is still an expensive hotel so we expected more....The food at the hotel is good, i enjoyed the 15 euro spa circuit, and luckily it was off season as at the poolside i'm sure all sunbeds are taken in high summer. There are not that many sunbeds and the pool is rather small. The location is good, half way between Palma center and Porto Pi shopping mall the other way, but next time i would stay at the Gran Victoria again instead unless they offer this one MUCH cheaper than its prices now, as i do not think it offers the price/quality it stands for. sorry.
An easy walk to PAlma centre with local frequent bus options too. Access to The Level was well worth the extra cost. Great room with comfortable bed, excellent shower and stunning views from balcony. Good selection of restaurants and bars nearby
This is a very nice hotel, and all of the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. But the showers ? It would seem that all of the rooms have a shower with a glass wall onto the bedroom, with a curtain on the bedroom side. Not only is this rather unusual, it also means that if you visit the bathroom in the night you flood the bedroom with light, which your partner may not appreciate ! It is nice to have a gym, but it is a little tired, with rust on some of the equipment. As a smoker, it is nice to have a balcony. The food was good, with a very extensive choice for breakfast.
The first impression - I waited almost an hour to check in. I did arrive in a group, but the hotel expected a group. The reception was intollerably slow. The room was nice to look at, but impractical. After I came out of the shower I saw that the water from the shower flooded the bathroom. Fancy design but poor functionality. The swimming pool area is nice, particularly for evening functions. The breakfast is gorgeous. The bed linnen of top quality and the bed very comfortable.
Stayed for a long weekend and really enjoyed the hotel. Staff friendly, Wifi good, breakfast excellent and the rooms very clean and comfortable. The pool area was stunning and and the views over the marina to the city were out of this world. It is walking distance into town, otherwise there are always taxis outside, and the staff gave us a great recommendation for a restaurant. Despite the busy road there was very little traffic noise in the rooms but, as mentioned in other reviews here, I would suggest avoiding rooms on the side of the hotel as they are located over busy bars and nightclubs, so unless you plan to be in the nightclub you are going to be driven crazy by the noise - apparently until 5am!
This is a very nice hotel. It looks like the rooms have been recently renovated to a very modern look. The only thing that is a bit strange in my opinion is the glass between the bedroom and the bathroom and the curtain is on the bedroom side for some reason.
We spent three nights here and I would not stay anywhere else. Location was very good and within walking distance to major sites and old town. The Level One experience is woth the extra cost! Balcony view to harbor was exceptional.
Excellent room, Super service and great food, great location for the marina and catching the city tour bus. Staff at reception were extremely helpful, We would go back to this hotel. We upgraded to "level" access on arrival and it was worth it
