Every time you need to take hairdryer from reception and give it back. And hairdryer not even working. Also tv remote you can't find in hotel room you need to take it from reception. Hotel is to big for a restaurant very small space and not a lot of seats, also food not a big choice . Near by the pool you need have your personal towels. We asked in reception one large bed because we're booked in booking with one large bed, but they don't have it. It was our honeymoon , we expected better place, food for the price.
My teenage daughter and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel and I have to say we had a lovely time. I had warned my daughter prior to going not to expect too much as it is a 3* hotel and we usually holiday to far away destinations in 5* hotels however we were both very impressed by this little gem of a hotel. The rooms are fairly small but fully equipped with what you need, although I would advise you take a multi plug extension as there is only one plug socket in the room. Our room was on the 5th floor and overlooked the sea and the harbour which was simply beautiful to wake up to every morning. The main plus point for me was that the rooms and the grounds were very clean with maid service every day and even the pool area was cleaned thoroughly every morning. The food was very well cooked with a selection of fresh crisp salad each day, although there wasn't a vast amount of choice there was always something I liked, not so much for my daughter but she is extremely fussy! The staff here are also very pleasant and although they work very long hours they are always smiling and helpful. There are some shops and restaurant close by, it is down a steep hill but this didn't bother us. We also visited a little cove beach which was a short walk away from the hotel albeit there are lots and lots of steps to climb so be prepared! We were all inclusive and there are drinks and snacks available around the pool all day although the drinks do come in tiny cups so we were visiting the bar every 15 minutes as in the heat we constantly needed watering! In all, we had a fabulous time on our little trip and glad we found this little gem of a hotel. For a 3* hotel we found it to be excellent value for money and would definitely stay again. Thank you Blue Bay :)
My partner and I checked in about midnight on the 26/04/2017 when we exited the lift we can hear a load mechanical buzzing noise, our room was adjacent the lift; inside the room we can still hear this noise. We straight away went to the front desk to complain and asked for a room move. We were informed that the hotel was full and he couldn't move us but advised us to come back in the morning about 9am and room move would be arranged for us. Due to the time we didn't press the issue, we were both tired and just wanted to go to bed. We did not fall off to sleep until after 4am because of this noise, and still the sleep was interrupted sleep. We went to the front desk after breakfast, the gentleman on reception said "it was impossible to move us" please note while there we observed people checking out. He said "it can't be the lift because they are new, maybe it's the air conditioning" we let him know we couldn't sleep. His response was "we can't move an inch" he was totally disinterested with our concerns. We didn't even received a simple apology. We went back to our room and straight away called lastminute.com. I was told they need to check with the supplier; when we were contacted later that day the resolution that was proposed was that we leave the hotel and book another hotel at our own expense This is totally unacceptable, so we declined. Your agent said he will go back to the supplier again. Back home, I received an email stating that the hotel said that we did not go to the front desk to complain. We made sure we give them the opportunity to rectify the issues twice. On a third occasion the receptionist offhandedly asked us if the noise was still there, to which we answered "yes". Only when we asked for the CCTV did they agreed that we did inform them of the noise in our room. Will never stay at this hotel again. Worst night sleep in a hotel, ruined our short break. Even worst customer service. No apology or refund.
Good sized clean rooms with a balcony view for us. Housekeeping staff very friendly and efficient. The communal areas are clean and tidy. The pool in particular is incredibly clean. The large number of steps up and down to the beach might put some off - however it is a great beach. The life guards are vigilant and pro-active re water safety. We were all inclusive on this trip. The food is plentiful the vast parts being the variety of salads. Breakfast is the usual fare catering for Brits (fry-ups) and the more discerning continentals! Lunch and evening meals are very similar. Regrettably vegetables and fish end up over cooked. This is clearly because they stand on the hot plates too long. Such a shame especially with the fish. That being said there is something for everyone. The beer is always cold and the wine likewise but don't expect great quality wine. At the price charged you should not anticipate it being quality! But it does the job. All in all good value and a good location. This hotel is definitely not suitable for anyone with any kind of mobility issues. The lifts wont take a wheelchair and there are too many stairs on the outside areas.
Five nights at this little gem of a hotel – 3 star but punching above its weight. Very good deal with BA which made this A/I such a good deal and therefore enhanced our stay. Had lovely 3rd floor room overlooking beautiful Palma bay and harbour. Food was good if not outstanding but again such good value. Pool and sun-beds could accommodate us all, with most guests spending their days at the beaches, which are very close by – either a ten minute walk to one or catch no. 3 bus – 10 minutes down to Illetes beach which is lovely. As this wasn’t quite the height of summer I’m not sure how hotel would cope with it being full to capacity as very small reception area that struggled to deal with more than one or two guests at a time and with only two lifts to accommodate eight floors it was sometimes a bit of a wait for lifts to arrive. As stated by all reviews, hotel is on a steep hill and would recommend taking the road up to hotel as the stairs further along, off the main road are a killer!!! Overall, really enjoyed our stay at this very nice hotel. PS: you must visit Abaco in the heart of the old town in Palma – quite eccentric and opulent – great for photo opportunity although drinks very expensive!
There are many positives about this hotel but in my opinion, the biggest problem is its position in Cala Major, which is a bit of a run-down area on the outskirts of Palma. On the plus side, the hotel staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. When we complained after the first night that the bed was uncomfortable, we were told they would change the mattress, and they did. So I would suggest that any problems arising during your stay be mentioned in order to give the hotel staff the opportunity to sort it out, as they seemed only too willing to do so. Our room, which looked out from the back of the hotel, was quite cramped, as was the small balcony which only had one chair on it. Having said that, it was clean and serviceable, if a little shabby in places. The area around the pool was clean, pleasant and well-kept and didn’t get too overcrowded during our stay. The food was variable but I felt that was as much personal taste as it was reliant upon what was offered. I am a fairly fussy eater, being largely vegetarian but also eating chicken and fish. However I managed to find something each meal time from the selection on offer, even though sometimes I was a little restricted and the fish that was on offer was not great. However the majority of the meals were good and there was ample salad selection. At worst, I just didn’t fancy what was available, but still managed to have something even though it might not be my first choice were I eating out. The ‘help yourself’ wine was not great and unfortunately there was no beer in the restaurant, which is usually my preference. However the service at both the pool and the evening bar was excellent really friendly, efficient staff. However it was unfortunate that, if you wanted to sit outside with an evening drink, you were in a small space next to the main road, which was not relaxing! The bar service finished at 11:00pm, which didn’t bother me but I am sure that some might wish to drink later than that. Cala Major itself has little to recommend it other than its proximity to Palma. No beach to speak of, just a profusion of tatty looking shops, bars and restaurants, which I didn’t feel the need to explore. Therefore, due to that and a number of other reasons, we pretty much stayed in and around the hotel and pool and it was certainly pleasant enough. All-in-all, it is a slightly dated, three star hotel which is reasonably priced. Basics such as customer service and cleanliness are good. There is a reasonable choice of food each meal time, some of which is better than others. The pool area is pleasant and there is a view towards the sea. There is a bus stop right next to the hotel for trips into Palma. There is nothing really wrong with the hotel and it makes for a good base if you are going to hire a car and travel around and, being reasonably close to the airport is also a plus. If you choose not to leave the hotel much, you will have a perfectly pleasant time relaxing by the pool interspersed with regular refreshments. You won’t get luxury or anything with ‘wow’ factor, but if you want reasonable value then this is certainly worth giving a go.
Excellent views of the sea.... great choice of food at breakfast buffet... friendly reception, and most helpful.... overall clean hotel with rooms being daily serviced.... all rooms with private balcony .... yes really good value at this hotel ..... parking available but not too near if onsite full... would definitely book again .
The welcome at the hotel was very friendly. We arrived at 12 noon and our room was ready. We had an amazing view of the bay which really is 'Blue'. The food was delicious all week. Not so much range as some other 3* hotels which we have stayed but tasty and enough choice. I liked the way they warmed the breakfast rolls, as these can tend to be hard in some hotels. They also had tomato juice which i love , Most hotels don't serve this. The pool is clean but beware the steps into the pool are steep. It is best to get into the pool in the deep end and there are more rungs on the ladder. The pool side snack bar sells ready made sandwiches and rolls, you can help yourself to cakes and biscuits, ice cream is here also with plenty to drink. There is shade by the snack bar which is open from 10-7pm. Entertainment in the low season is twice a week. Easy hotel within reach of Palma. Bus just eur 1.50.number 46. Did not use the hotels small mini bus into cala major as the walk is very quick down the hill. Not good for people with vertigo this hotel or walking difficulties, but great for a relaxing quiet break. Not suitable for kids as not much for them to do and they could get bored, but a small play park is next to the pool suitable for 4-5 year olds. I would for sure stay here again. A budget hotel with a great view of the bay and excellent location. Taxi to airport eur 23.00.
Good food..Fantastic views.... No getting up early for a sunbed !! Decided we would like a hotel close to Palma for sightseeing. Yes the steps and steep hill are a bit of a bind, it didnt stop us from going down to the lovely beach and a visit to the local shops. Although there's not a lot of entertainment in the town we made the most of it. The hotel is very nice. Adequate sized rooms. Nice assortment of foods on offer. Drinks ok but i think the cocktails could be a bit better!! Bus service is very good. bus to Palma 1.50 euro. and to Palma nova £3.20. Staff in general were helpful and pleasant. The view from our balcony room 528 was stunning...a great sea view. Good holiday could just do with serving better drinks and having some good entertainment.
My sister and I took great time to pick this hotel and paid for a sea view room We were not disappointed, what a view. WOW. We stayed for 4 nights and we could not have done anymore. The food if i am honest is dull. Quite often we wouldn't go to lunch and would pick up a sandwich from the pool bar. Limited, all very much the same. Just OK. We read about the steps and were not worried. There were quite a lot at 30 somethings we struggled a little to say the least, especially the steps at the side of the church to get back to the hotel. The local beach in the town extremely busy and we couldn't get a bed and wouldn't recommend going at peak times. Beautiful area, lovely people, very welcoming. I can't say one bad word about the hotel. It catered to what we needed and luckily we were only there 4 nights. Anymore we would have gone crazy. Would we recommend, yes you wont be disappointed, just don't set your sights high with the food. Special thank you to all the lovely staff who made this stay what it was. Clean, happy and welcoming. Internet is awesome, small kids pool, drinks a plenty, gin and tonics - WOW
