Unfortunately we did not know that room 101 was the worst and got it. We did complain but no change. This was no family room, there were 2 single beds in a dark, stinky, windowless corridor with a noisy fridge beside and then a tiny room with a double bed. Both nights we couldn't sleep until 4 am for the noise, but no change of room, no help from staff, they just called our neighbours again and again but did not intervene. All is very old and worn down, extremely old bathroom. Coffee at breakfast is the worst you can imagine. Breakfast is not too bad but not particularly good either. Location is fine but finding a parking spot can be difficult.
Good location. Room was big enought but the bathroom was small and the shower was nightmare🙈. Its because of shower curtain. We spend there only one night, so it was ok for so short stand. But not for more and its because of shower. Breakfast was good for this type for hotel.
This is a simple, family run hotel with basic amenities - if you want 5 star not for you. The staff are courteous and helpful, rooms clean and comfortable. Good choice at breakfast - to suit all (and for those comments I've seen busy at breakfast - doh - it's a hotel!!). Also, considering it's in a busy square, quiet in the evenings) - the hotel was very full but no noise in the corridors during the night (may be different in summer). I enjoyed my stay and would go back.
hotel The hotel is an old establishment with character. The lobby invites you to sit back and relax. The ride with vintage elevator was always a thrilling adventure. location The hotel is located in the center of Can Pastilla. It faces the lovely square where old people leisure on benches and every other day there is a market with fresh fruits. staff Friendly and helpful. Everyone speaks perfect English. room Well, I guess rooms differ from each other. Ours was quite small. It was located next to staircase so we heard late guests climbing the stairs or people playing the pool in the lobby. The walls were extremely thin - we heard the noises from surrounding rooms. The noise of flushing the toilet from the room above was loud as well. The room could be a bit cleaner - there were stains in the shower and on the wall. The old-fashioned air conditioner was sometimes switching on even when it wasn't supposed to (even with the balcony door open). There were quite nice balcony facing the small quiet street. baby We had an extra paid crib. Our room was quite small, so there was not much place for our one-year-old to play. The room was quite loud so sometimes it was difficult to put him to sleep. breakfast The breakfasts were very tasty. It was the general standard of good quality. Apart from regular dishes everyday there was something new - like small chicken kebabs on the sticks or fresh melons. Good coffee. summary I liked the general old-fashioned atmosphere of the place. And I liked the breakfast which were always a pleasant surprise. So if I were there only with my wife I would give 5 stars. But since we were there with small kid, next time I would look for more modern place.
We were prepared for a cheap and functional stopover after arriving at PMI late in the evening. On arrival the hotel was fine; dated and in need of refurbishment but ok. It was well located about 100 metres from the beach and we had a family room with a seperatly sleeping area for the children. Unfortunately we did not manage to get much sleep because of the proximity to a disco music bar ( just opposite our first floor balcony). It wasn't the music, just people shouting, talking and smoking outside until 4 am. Someone also randomly threw a pack of ham onto our balcony! The breakfast was not much in a basement room with off milk - if I hadn't been sleep deprived it might have been ok. We weren't asked about our stay on departure. I think we were unlucky with our room location so I'm not saying avoid completely - just check where your room is. Maybe the front ones are quieter....
Used it for a stopover after arriving at PMI late. There was initial confusion over my bookings, which too long to resolve. The rooms are functional at best. Old fashioned narrow dark with barely serviceable plumbing and decor. Breakfast in the basement was of the same quality. Just about ok for a single night stopover, but a big no no for any longer.
Was a great hotel, receptionist Sydney was very good, spoke good english and was very customer focused. Stayed here for one night was a great location to beaches and touristy shops along with outher shops for a wander and alook around. Was close to airport and cheap Taxi ride to airport. Hotel a little dated however had own balcony and room was clean and bed great, bathroom lacked shelf space and shower over the bath. Was value for money and last minute online booking was easy. Would stay here again if ever in Palma Mallorca.
Second visit to Can Pastilla and Hotel Balear after 7 years. Pleased to say that beyond some cosmetic touch ups it's still the same small and friendly hotel. If you want luxury then go elsewhere, but for a clean, friendly and reasonably comfortable stay this place will more than meet your needs. All rooms have a balcony and a fridge - which is great for having chilled drinks in the evening. The beach is a few moments away and the town square, overlooked by the front of the hotel has a local market a couple of times a week. The airport is 10 mins away - the bus stops outside. Fully recommended for a great value beach break.
Following a late flight into Palma airport, my family and I took rooms at this hotel as it was nearby and allowed us to wake refreshed and ready to start our holiday. Overall, Balear is a decent hotel for a short stay. It won't win any awards for bring the most luxurious, but it doesn't pretend to be either. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable and the air con works - plus the staff are very pleasant. Whilst I wouldn't book a week's holiday, it's a very convenient and comfortable way to start your time in Majorca.
We have stayed in many small and larger hotel in Mallorca and in Malaga and this hotel is not comfortable for any needs. Old and bad beds and not comfortable. The receptionists are good people but the hotel is not good for our holidayservice and the rooms need to be better painted and better cleaned. Location is fine but not the hotel.
