We have just returned from a lovely holiday at Daina Apartments in Puerto Pollensa. The apartments are very clean, spacious and well equipped and our particular apartment had a small balcony at the front with a clothes airer and a large furnished patio at the back with a view to the mountains , both of which got the sun at different times of the dayAll staff were very friendly and helpful. We particularly appreciated the free safe and the free pool towels which could be changed as often as needed. The pool area is beautiful , well kept and has very comfortable sun beds and a selection of other seating areas - it's a very relaxing place to spend time. Be warned though - the pool is absolutely freezing ! The apartments are very well placed for restaurants , walks and transport links.
The apartment was smartly furnished and decorated, and we would go back. But the traffic along the road under the balcony would be a nuisance to some people. We found all the coming and going to service the hotels and restaurants on the front quite interesting, but a room with a view it was not, unless you like looking into other people's apartments across the road. The king-size bed was excellent, as were the sofa/divan beds in the sitting area. Some niggling details need attending to. The high chairs at the 'dining table' are not suitable for older folk. The table itself is too small to function properly for meals. The area is big enough to take a proper table for four people, and normal chairs. It looks good, but doesn't make for comfort. Rear bedroom window could not be left open securely. Reception staff were excellent in the main hotel. The sea is much warmer to swim in than the icy pool. Again, the pool looks impressive, but in September hardly a soul in it.
Hotel, Staff & Resort are all excellent.. The private pool is a fabulous add on too ! I am not always a returner to previous holiday destinations, but I am on my 6th return to Puerto Pollensa and 4th stay at Daina... X
Regular visitor here and could not fault the apartment, always choose a one bed apartment as you have a balcony front and back , yes it is noisy in the morning at the front but the bedroom is at the back so don't here a thing , great air con, free safe, nice to be able to make tea and coffee in the morning in the kitchen Hotel arranged a nice surprise for my wife at a reasonable price Great breakfast in hotel with a stunning view from the table on the terrace , evening meal very good, great staff, very accommodating Look forward to returning next year
We arrived at midnight after a delayed flight and collected the keys from the hotel - found our apartment and my heart sank a little as it was on the ground floor and the other reviews made that sound bad! However we went in to find they'd left us all a cold meal - how nice is that?! (We hadn't asked). The apartment is roomy enough for two adults and two teens, beds really comfy etc. Large balcony - yes it's at street level but we only used it for drying towels on or sitting to read and hearing the locals walking past was actually pleasant! No view but as the hotel restaurant and pool have the most amazing views we didn't have a problem with it. The aircon is fine if you shut the bedroom doors. Best of all we slept like logs. No idea if they have changed rubbish collections for summer but the day we heard them it was 9.30-10am, hardly a problem!!! The only minor issue is we reserved with booking.com and I don't remember seeing on here that guys need to wear long trousers in the hotel restaurant if dining there in the evening - it's something booking.com should make guests aware of as if you don't find out until you're asked to by the restaurant manager it's a little embarrassing for everyone! But food was really good buffet style with lots of Spanish choices. And a brilliant team of waiters. We would come back again. And also another review said it was a struggle to get the room cleaned - they clean 3x a week, clean towels etc - not sure you normally get that level of service in apartments!!
Had a fantastic stay at the Daina. We were in the apartments which were lovely and spacious and spotlessly clean!! The hotel is just at the front of them and the reception staff were so friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Although we were in the apartments we did pay on the day for their buffet breakfast which was beautiful with lots of choice. The swimming pool is across from hotel and juts out into the sea and it's gorgeous!! There's also a lovely poolside bar, with lovely friendly bar staff, and which turns into a cocktail bar with live music on in the evening. Puerto Pollensa is a gorgeous resort, very charming with lots of character, with lots of lovely bars and restaurants. We all fell in love with this resort. I will definitely be returning to the Hotel Diana!
This was our 3rd visit to these apartments. We've stayed on the top floor twice, but this time were given Apt 2. We realised this meant we had no balcony but the embarrassed and apologetic guy on reception told us that instead of outside space we had ' a window' and they were very busy. While it was clean it was probably the most depressing space I've had the misfortune to stay in. The bathroom had no lock or catch (a swinging frosted glass door gives little privacy anyway in a main hallway) and we had to have this rectified. The apartment had no natural light at all, unless you open the shutters in the bedroom where you then look directly at another apartments terrace and table or the shutters at the front which are directly at the pavement. There is no outside space, and to access it you have to walk though someone else's outside space! It was really awful and we were grateful that we were only staying for 2 nights. It was very noisy from the road and the upstairs apartment, the children slept adjacent to the kitchenette, and we felt exhausted when we left. Such a shame, as before we always gave a high rating for our experience here. As usual there was a lot of sunbed hogging by the pool. We stayed in some other apartments a week later and watched the queue for the pool area at the daina to open begin at 8am. By 9am there were 32 people queueing. By 9.05 all the sunbeds, tables and parasols had been appropriated, towels and books laid out and by 9.10 all but 5 people had gone back into the hotel. One chap 'reserved' 5 sunbeds but nobody was on them even at 11.30. The Daina should really enforce their 'no reserving' rule. On the flipside, lunch at the pool was lovely, the Bruschetta is very good.
I found this a difficult review to write there are so many good things about this hotel/apartments but they also have issues which need addressing. Apartment....after reading reviews on TripAdvisor my parents who were holidaying in April in PP called into the hotel to request a room for us on a higher floor they were told one was available but they couldn't say for definite that we would get it. When we arrived we were in no13 (1st floor) it didn't seem too bad until we walked out of the bedroom patio door onto what I can only describe as a covered corridor no seating area so we only had a tiny balcony with 2 seats not enough for 4 of us to enjoy lunch at. After a heated discussion with a lady on reception she eventually said one was available on the second floor. no21 was lovely, big balcony with nice seating area for 4 people. We had to walk through someone else's balcony to get to our front door but the apartments are very clean & well equipped with everything you could need, even mirrors in the right place to do your hair & make up. The air conditioning is brilliant, the sofa beds are proper beds so really comfy. The street noise is loud when emptying the bins but didn't disturb my kids. The apartments are lovely if you get the right floor which they can't guarantee which is a shame. Swimming pool.. lovely pool if you get a good seat. People queuing at 9 for it to open then leaving towels on the sun beds & leaving. One day I counted 19 towels on beds that people had left & we had to sit near the exit. There were also people using the pool who weren't guests I thought it was for guests only ? Restaurant... amazing, from the food to the staff everything was amazing. We went half board which was a first for us & would highly recommend it. The staff are lovely & couldn't do enough for us even doing a pizza for my fussy son. They do a kids menu as well as the buffet. The view is lovely towards the bay from the restaurant. 5 stars well done restaurant staff. I know this sounds like I am moaning a lot but we did have a good holiday here that's why I gave it 4 stars. I would have enjoyed it more knowing about the weird arrangements of the apartments. I don't think I would visit again because they cannot guarantee which room you would get & it would spoil my holiday having a bad room. My kids loved the restaurant manager & all his staff.
On arrival our apartment which we were assured was wheelchair friendly was up a flight of stairs with no lift. Informed of an apartment with wheelchair lift access but lift not working so were given a hotel room for the night with complimentary dinner and breakfast. After six hours following day we were taken to our apartment, great. On inspection I could not access bathroom and toilet in my wheelchair not the beautiful terrace which was down six steps. For my two week stay I had to use the public disabled toilet in the foyer. To be fair the staff were wonderful but my stay was not great. The main hotel across the street was not fitted with a disabled toilet nor the pool very disappointing when booking was made on assurance of being disabled friendly. For able bodied a great central p!ace to stay and spotlessly clean with fabulous staff. WiFi is NOT available in all rooms, we had to go to foyer to access WiFi. I would also like cupboards to be lower anyone under 5ft 5ins would not be able to reach glasses crockery etc. And drawer space is very limited with no shelves in bathroom for toiletries and towels stored high up.
The single bedroom apartment was great. The kingsize bed was exceptionally comfortable and aparentlly the single beds were comfy as well. Loads of room. Shower was powerful with ample hot water. Plenty of wardrobe space. Balcony over looking the street at the front with a great large balcony with views to the mountains at the rear. Kettle small 2 job cooker toaster and micro wave with a good sized fridge. Definately book this again. Resturant is in main hotel just other side of the street. Good was great, no complaints there. Pool is other side of hotel going into the sea. Beautiful there. Last year has a studio apartment so paid a little more to have the 1 bedroom apartment.
