We choose this hotel to stay at as a family of 5, with children aged 9, 7 and 2. We had the 'family room' which was 2 rooms that interconnected each with its own bathroom which was fantastic as allowed for extra space and had 2 balconies. Before arrival we rechecked the reviews as it was booked months in advance and was really off put as it had a lot of negative reviews. Well we couldn't have been happier with our stay, the hotel was so clean and they were also constantly cleaning (even though it was spotless). The staff were friendly, there was a good selection of food (and even I had variety to choose from which I expected to be limited as I have a food allergy). There are 3 outdoor pools to choose from and children's entertainment through the day and night. Even the bingo you didn't pay to do which I expected to. The all inclusive was fantastic and was available up until midnight. The photographer at the hotel also took us for our own private photo shoot on the beach at sunset which was such a great experience (payment extra for that but well worth it). They also give you beach towels to use on the loungers (to give back) and a beach bag to take home with you - there was also a bag full of toiletries in the bathroom. Really enjoyed our holiday and would happily return!
The location: Santa Ponsa was only a 30/40 minute drive from Palma de Mallorca airport. The beach is a moderate size and there is a beautiful walk around the coastline to the harbour. The location of the Suneoclub Santa Ponsa hotel could not really be faulted; it was a 5 minute walk from the shops/restaurants, the beach and the bus/taxi stops. I would rate it at 4 stars out of 5. The only way it could have been better located was if it was actually on the beachfront with a sea view. Hotel decor and staff: The hotel decor is fresh and light, spacious and very aesthetically pleasing. There is a large dining room, large entertainment room with a small stage, a bar and a small gaming room, sofas/comfortable chairs and tables are in abundance and outside there’s plenty of sun loungers both around the pools and up on the roofs. We had full access to the sister hotel which was connected by the outdoor swimming pools and the snack bar area. Neither the outdoor nor the indoor pools were heated, therefore early on in the season (May) the pools were too chilly to swim in. The bedrooms are spacious; complete with an en suite toilet/shower, balcony, dressing table with a mirror, sliding wardrobe, wall mounted TV and a pullout sofa bed. The main bed is actually two single beds put together to create a double. This was slightly annoying as it was fairly easy to slip down in between the two beds during the night. Both the staff and Tui reps were very helpful and friendly. I’d rate the overall design and facilities of the hotel at 4 stars out of 5. All inclusive food and beverages: Food and drinks were available from 8am until midnight in the forms of the meal buffets, the snack bar or the drinks bar. There were different foods served at every buffet meal time, so we weren’t limited to the same choices day to day. However the quality of the food left quite a lot to be desired. The main worry was that most of the time the foods weren’t labelled, making it very difficult for people with food allergies and dietary restrictions. The snack bar was open basically any time the buffets weren’t. There wasn’t a lot of variety and again the foods were rarely labelled. The drinks bar was unlimited, however the cocktails came from a machine and were weak in alcohol but overpowering in taste. Even watered down with lemonade they were very sickly. The rest of the drinks were fine. At a push I would rate the food and beverages at 3 stars out of 5. Entertainment: I have to admit the in house entertainment was not to our taste. The website boasting “Las Vegas style shows” was deeply misleading. The kids entertainment started at 20:30 for an hour which was followed by the main entertainment which most nights was a singing/dancing performance or a 20 minute quiz/games evening by the entertainment team. These were 100% cheesy and embarrassingly cringey. On a couple of nights external performers entertained us such as an ABBA tribute and a mediocre magician. These were better than the in house team but not by much. The entertainment team also ran activities during the day which we did not take any interest in. It was probably the most disappointing aspect of our holiday so I’d rate it at 2 stars out of 5. Overall, based on the hotel’s location, facilities, decor, staff and entertainment I’d give this First Choice holiday 3.5 stars out of 5.
Nice clean hotel. We went with 4 friends so we went for the option of communicating rooms one next to the other. Great option. On the food I can’t remark anything. Always fresh fruits. Never empty plates in the self service. Always a lot of option as well for vegetarian as meat lovers. The incl all in cocktails aren’t great .. not home made.. but there are enough other options to take. Swimming pool was still cold. And the sun beds were fast taken. So waking up in the morning is a must. Location is okay. Sea is on a 5min walk. It’s nearby the nightlife of Santa Ponsa, but if you want a decent party you will have to move to Palma. One cab costs around €25. Enjoy your stay!
Pleasantly surprised on arrival. Stayed at Pionero part of hotel. Friendly reception bar and dining room staff. Spotlessly clean. Very nice room, recently refurbished. Meals perfectly adequate with reasonable choice. Short level walk to resort centre and beach, both very clean. Busy bus service but worth it for visits to Palma and Andraixt. The only negatives are: very congested round the pools and very noisy in the evenings with late childrens entertainment, but its possible to find quieter areas. Overall a good week and super value for money
Had a brilliant stay can’t fault the hotel at all room big enough for the 2 of us lovely shower and nipping clean, rooms cleaned and fresh towels every day, plenty of choice for drinks on the all inclusive, food was good and always something even for the fussy eaters, entertainment on the night could be improved and English bacon would have been great but all in all great place and will return
We had originally booked the 3 star hotel over the road however on arrival we were advised the facilities in this hotel were closed and we had to use the Santa Ponsa Park. Can’t comment on the rooms as we still stayed in the 3 star. Spent all day at the pool. There was also an indoor pool which was heated, great for the kids at this time of year when the outdoor pool was freezing. The breakfast was okay if you can make do with cereal. Toast. Fruit etc. the snack bar (pizzeria) was great, pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, fruit and salad served at the side of the pool. Lunch and evening meal the first three days was disgusting however the hotel was full of Spanish, looks like they catered for them. The last two days were better however not a lot of choice for a 4 star. No ice cream served outside, not sure if that will change as the season gets in to full swing, again for a 4 star you would expect that. I know previous times we stayed that was offered. Some of the bar staff were horrible and rude however Seni was lovely, she knew what everyone’s drink was and took time to chat to us. Maybe ask her to train your other bar staff to smile. We went out every night so can’t comment on the entertainment. Not a bad stay for what we paid
Although room clean and cleaned everyday in need of update. Food was very very average, not hot, and dry, every day exactly the same except for the type of meat. Staff very slow at clearing tables and resetting: wished we had paid little bit more and stayed at the Fergus Casa Blanca knocks spots of this hotel as have stayed at twice before.
First impressions hotel clean staff very friendly, room however disappointed, there was no kettle in the room so every time you wanted a drink you had to go downstairs to get one which is fine but you want to chill out in your room not go back an forth to get a cup of tea! An plus after 12 at night you can’t get one till 7-45 in morning an being an early riser wanting a cuppa at 6ish didn’t happen. The outdoor pools were nice but cold the time of year we went an the indoor pool looked a bit grimy around outside an small. Food was brill something for all of us couldn’t complain there as we were all inclusive didn’t go hungry wasn’t impressed at the ice cream on offer at snack times an would of been easier if had the drinks machine you could help yourself rather than continually ask. It’s fine but we don’t like to ask all the time so ended up buying a bottle of sprite for our room. The evening entertainment was great but if got small children an want a relatively good night sleep don’t go here we have a 7 year old that generally goes to bed at 8 yes we are on holiday but he wears out quickly so wanted him in bed for 9, the music on the Sunday night we were there was still playing at 11-45 an sounded like was in our room it was that loud was not impressed at all! Other than those couple of grumbles it was really good half an hour trip to airport by bus. Beach wasn’t the cleanest an lots of jelly fish on sand so didn’t go in. Hope this helps other holiday makers this was our first trip loved it but not for a quiet holiday
Booked this hotel as was under the false impression we had booked a 4* hotel, we even payed an extra £90 to have an upgraded room, and ended up being put into the hotel opposite (you will not find pictures of this hotel on the website, for obvious reasons) which has very old outdated rooms, no fridge, no key to the safe, balcony doors extremely hard to lock, tiniest shower I’ve ever seen, broken toilet flusher, lose electrical sockets on the walls, heating/air con broken, and dust on carpets everywhere. We booked a double room and arrived to find two singles pushed together, we had one pillow each so politely asked for a spare each and was told they do not offer extra pillows/blankets. We eventually got given a blanket but then found melted boiled sweets stuck to it. Be very careful as even when you put the sign on your door for no housekeeping they just walk in anyway without knocking sometimes as well! Reception staff generally rude and shrug their shoulders without an answer to any question, even after asking whether we could pay more to be put into the hotel across the road, we had a rude lady shrug her shoulders and say it isn’t her problem. Would not recommend this hotel and will definitely not be staying here again.
We were transferred to Santa Ponsa Park from Pionero after our first night. This hotel is a lot quieter that the Pionero with slightly older clientele. We were lucky as we were not disturbed too many times but I guess that could just be luck of the draw. There was a lovely bag of toiletries in the room (unlike not even a bar of soap in the Pionero), the room clean and large enough for 3 and the bathroom spacious with a good shower and fresh towels daily. Large TV with English TV channels, fridge, hairdryer, plenty of plug sockets, large wardrobe and a good balcony overlooking the pool. The bar served fabulous coffee incl. decaff(ask for proper coffee machine) and alcohol free beer was available on all inclusive. The food was excellent, lots of salad, choice of grilled meat, fish, paella and a big selection of puddings. The chef was very helpful in accommodating my daughters nut allergies. The only negative about the restaurant was the closeness of the tables (almost sitting on other people’s laps). Outdoor pools were unusable in April as they were too cold. The indoor pool was small, warm but not particularly clean and the lifeguard not very attentive as he was always on his phone! The strength of the chlorine affected my daughters skin and hair badly. To summarise, the staff were excellent but this hotel was too busy and noisy for me. I will not return.
