We were impressed by the Europe Hotel Playa Marina in general. Because we were here in the first week of the season as Easter is early this year, we were the only couple on half board and this could have gone badly wrong since you cannot do an international buffet for two people! However, the hotel dealt with this admirably by asking the chef to cook something that we would like each day. LIKE? We were treated to some of the best food that we have eaten in hotels anywhere. We can only compliment the chef on his skill as we were presented with everything from perfectly cooked swordfish to ibericco pork with some amazing amuse - bouche . Thanks to the chef for giving us such great food and for Enriqué and the team for facilitating it. SUPER. Ok general comments then : The hotel is mainly refurbished with some excellent refurbished superior rooms with sea view which come at average prices. Illetas is a really quiet small resort which is what we were looking for but it is not magaluf - thankfully! Great breakfast great staff spotless hotel. Probably not the right resort for family with older kids but great for couples and no doubt the food in all restaurants will be great☺. LIKE all big cities you need to take care of pickpockets in Palma which is only a 30 minute and 1.5 euro bus ride from right outside the hotel but I very nearly lost my wallet to a pickpocket at a bus stop so beware - fortunately my wife battered him and he lost out 🙃
We stayed here for a week in the end of March, and pretty much had the hotel to ourselves. Beautifully located right on the sea front with lots of space to enjoy the sun on the terrace & pool area. The hotel was in good shape, and the room had everything you’d expect including a balcony with ocean view. Nice comfy bed and good bathroom/ shower. The bathroom didn’t have proper doors, just a thin see-through glass door which is kind of awkward when you need privacy. Breakfast was good with standard stuff including coffee machine, and chef that will make you omelette / pancakes. The number 3 bus stop right outside takes you to central Palma very smoothly, otherwise not a whole lot going on in the area. There are a couple small beaches nearby but get pretty packed with tourists so better to drive to another area if you’re looking for something more private. The gym left a lot to be desired and the pool wasn’t heated which didn’t matter much to us, but may be worth noting. All in all we had a pleasant stay.
I enjoyed staying at this hotel, overall impression was clean and steamlined. PROS: Excellent dinner and lovely breakfast buffet, chef made omlettes were the highlight (chef was awesome!!)... Sometimes prosecco was left out beside the coffee machine on the terrace. Beautiful pool and floor I stayed on had just been renovated to high standard. Balcony was small but lovely to sit on. Very professional air about hotel and staff efficient in the background. CONS: 2 single beds pushed together for double, I know this is common but it's uncomfortable TV... Only 3 English speaking channels, which wouldn't be such a problem but.. Illetas... There's not much in the area, you have to get the bus or taxi if you're looking for more than a few bars dotted about. Pretty area, but quiet. No beach... Even the beaches further along the road are small and usually crowded WiFi... You only get free access on 1 device!! Never had that before, fortunately I had unlimited data on phone so could set up my Kindle to the hotel's wifi. OVERALL If you are looking for efficient, clean hotel with beautiful pool, good food, in a pretty but quiet area I'd recommend this hotel.
My husband and I visited here for some R&R to get away fro the stresses of work. We had a wonderful time! This was our second visit to this hotel in 2 years and we enjoyed it just as much, maybe better than the first time. They have upgraded the rooms and the restaurant offered a whole new selection of delicious food. We ended up eating every breakfast and dinner in the hotel because the food and service was so delicious! The remainder of the time we spent lounging by the pool or overlooking the beautiful ocean water watching boats sail by. We also enjoyed swimming in what seemed like a private little lagoon. The staff was also great. Very courteous and helpful. Jean
We were there for a week - combination of training and vacation. Altough we had one of the not yet renovated rooms it was all clean and nice. The hotel has great access to the ocean, has a small pool and an especially outstanding kitchen! The only thing I thought is not up to date is that WIFI is only free for one hours per day, more is over 20 € per week.
First of all this is a lovely hotel in a very nice setting in affluent illetas. The rooms are clean and well appointed . The food, especially breakfast was excellent. Before we traveled to Majorca I emailed the hotel three times requesting an updated, contempory room preferably with a sea view as this was a special trip for us being an anniversary. I received no reply and on arrival we were allocated a traditional room with very limited sea view. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room. There is no wifi in the room, only one free hour per day in the bar area. The reception staff and bar staff are very grumpy and unwelcoming and avoid making eye contact with you. They clearly work hard and long hours, but so do we, to pay for this holiday. Having stayed in many hotels over the years this attitude needs to be addressed as we would expect a better reception from a four star hotel. Some guests had beach towels included, we had to pay extra for them, why? We travelled with Thompson, soon to be Tui, but didn't see a rep at all for the whole two weeks, no welcome meeting, no advice, no trips offered. The chefs and waiting staff in the dining area, as well as the cleaning staff, were very friendly and cheerful however. We would stay again at this hotel as it is lovely, just give some of the reception and bar staff some customer training, ask the holiday rep to attend, tea and coffee in the room as well as wifi and reply to emails and it will then live up to its 4 star rating.
Don't think I have ever stayed anywhere where the internet is only available on certain floors(where you pay more) or for one hour in the bar. The hotel is situated very close to the sea and there is a beach a short walk away but be very careful of the parasol as most are not secure and will blow over. We stayed on B&B rate but ate in the restaurant on two occasions and the food is exceptional as long as you like fish which I do bit I think it would get a bit stirring if you were half board as there is only 3 choices, they do have a buffet where you help yourself.Breakfasts are good and a big shout out to the chefs doing the omelettes, best omelettes ever. The bus to Palma is just outside the hotel and seems to run constantly and if you do go into Palma you must visit the Paridisio restaurant where the ambience the food and the staff are first class book in advance to get a table outside we hadn't booked but the restaurant inside is exquisite. Now back to the hotel, sorry to say we won't be returning, didn't find the staff friendly at all and the air conditioning was not in a good state (see enclosed photo).
Just finished a ten-day break at this hotel, the second visit in the past twelve months and cannot rate it higher! We even obtained a room, late in the day for our visiting daughter, the staff could not have been more accommodating. I note someone saying there was 'no beach'.....hmm, lots of places to sunbathe though and jumping straight into the waves is something Mallorca is all about. We were given [the same]room on top floor with fabulous views across the bay and were well looked after by staff - liked the hotel laundry, handed-over at 9am and returned to the room by 1pm. Love this hotel and one of the friendliest I have been to in recent years - we will be booking again for Spring 18.
The staff was not accommodating. There is no beach, just a cliff to jump off of. The room had terrible decor, bad pillows, poor air conditioning, no bathroom amenities. When there was a noisy guest at 1am for half an hour and I called the front desk, no one picked up. I heard other guests having problems with safes not working and terrace doors not locking. Not a good experience at all.
Very nice hotel with very nice and happy staff. The breakfast is good with a lot to choose from. Nice pool area with a little wind so it does not get so hot. Highly recommend this hotel. Those who complain are just trolls.
