Food wasn't Wasn't very good some days , you would have to que up if you wanted food from were they was cooking it ,wasn't very happy with the evening meal the breakfast was ok , second time we have been to this hotel thinking it would get better but it didn't , it's a shame because you have got everything you need in the hotel rooms .
stayed at the catalonia del mar oct 2016. booked room overlooking swimming pool, when we went into the room we were very disappointed.the pool was in the next building we overlooked a conservatory type building, and bit of the pool.we went to reception to complain, they gave us a room overlooking the sea and harbour. all staff very pleasant, good meals, hotel clean bright and friendly, tea and coffee kettle in room, fridge, free safe.enjoyed our holiday will go back.recommend sea view.
Our first package holiday ever in 40 years - Thomas Cook were poor - the airline in particular, but to be fair, the hotel was probably as good as resort gets. The rooms were fairly clean but basic, restaurant just about ok if buffet section was made carefully, and prices for wine were very good for decent quality. The staff were very good indeed, and picked up the problems TC left them with. So advice if you are looking at this hotel. We struggled with both brochure and website to pick a room, and plumped for the most expensive - Junior Suite. We would suggest not to do so. The room is fractionally larger because they are end of corridor, so essentially you get an extra bit of bathroom space = half a corridor width. However you also get a balcony which is half the size of others + being on the end of the hotel, it is inches away from neighbouring balconies with no privacy screen. You do get a larger tv + coffee machine, but our room was directly (and I mean directly) above the bar area where the nightly performers are sited (no mention of this in brochure). We consequently moved to a 'superior' graded room which was much better. This amendment was arranged by the hotel staff - despite TC having responded to say they would make arrangements, they failed to even contact the hotel It is also worth noting the there are two blocks to the hotel. The main building has the sea view rooms - well worth specifying as the sunset over the marina is lovely. It also has rooms that face inland and over look an alley to the rear of the building + kitchens etc. The second block overlooks the pool and other buildings + vacant lots etc. The food is buffet style - if you pick carefully, there was usually decent selections - especially starters with salad and salmon etc. Mains were mostly bland, regardless of spanish or alternate cuisine. Wine was good and very reasonably priced and the waiting and hotplate staff very good indeed. re sea views - we went at a quiet time - early October, so good weather but quiet - I can imagine it could get quite noisy in peak season. Air conditioning just about coped
Adult-only Hotel Catalonia del Mar is conveniently situated in the harbor of Cala Bona, in between multiple restaurants and bars. The hotel is clean with a trendy interior. The rooms are quite luxurious and include complementary fruit, water, coffee, tea and several convenient toiletries (even a comb and a razor). The staff is very friendly, especially the bartender (Jose Carlos) who is always in a good mood and makes the most amazing cocktails! Tell him what kind of flavors you fancy and he'll make you a cocktail tailored to your individual taste. Jose Carlos is bar-tending in hotel Ronda in Malaga until April 2017, but he'll be back in hotel Catalonia del Mar in May 2017.
we went to cala millor last year and noticed this hotel when walking one day and decided to book up to stay there this year.the place was fantastic the rooms, food and facilities were all first class, you get so much for your money that you would normally pay extra for, pool towels, air con, safe,wi fi,toiletries the list is endless.everybody from the cleaners to the hotel manager always made time to say hola.the food and service was excellent and plentiful, the location was one of the best we have ever had and we have travelled abroad 3 times a year for the last 36 years.if you want a cheap beer visit the bar jermica at the back of the hotel 1.50 euros a point,or 3 euro's for a spirit and mixer in the happy hour it's real spirits not local. if you want groceries there is a lidl right down the front and past cala millor.
I wasn't sure what to expect but I was very impressed with the hotel & facilities. Was a little slow checking in as was only one on the desk. Food was really nice and a good range. The indoor swimming pool was cold as there is know heating. The area Cala bona area it's self is very quiet & beaches aren't great but busses are very accessible to travel the island.
Returned to Cala Bona 40 years after first visit. Hotel in great position overlooking the harbour. Had room on the 2nd floor at the front. Great views. Food good. Rooms comfortable. Great shower. Steff pleasant and helpful.
Stayed at the Catalonia del mar our 42nd year, welcomed by Marek as always who has made our holidays trouble free for many years in this ideal setting in Cala Bona, the rooms food pool and cleanliness of this hotel make it an ideal place to holiday, staff are always pleasant and helpful, and always welcome us back.
When we arrived at the hotel to check in we were told that we have been upgraded to a junior suite on the top floor so i thought thats strange we had all ready booked and paid for what we thought was the most expensive rooms available when we arrived at our room (401) which was OK big balcony with sun loungers very nice over looking the pool but no sun till around 6 in the evening after dinner which was alright apart from people shoving and pushing we decided to have a early night when we got to our room the couple opposite were changing rooms so after being in the room for about an hour or so we found that our room was right next to the lift shaft and doors the noise was terrible this went on all night and even in the morning when people were taking luggage down we did complain but did not get anywhere we had to put up with this awful noise for ten nights and hardly got any sleep at all the sea facing rooms looked a lot quieter and nicer with good views of the sea overall the hotel was clean and the staff were very pleasant the location could not have been better with shops bars & entertainment within walking distance.
A very good hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Our room had a sea view and was very clean with clean towels every day. We stayed on a half board basis, the breakfast was very good with wide range food to please all. The evening meal was a buffet, which can be either good or bad. As with a buffet the food is not always hot but again it is in the luck of the draw with it. The pool is not as big as it looks in the brochure but is ok. There is also a sun terrace over looking the pool but this is where they lack attention to detail as the furniture and area needed cleaning. There was also a party from the north east who thought it was ok to shout from end of the swimming pool to the other without any regards for anyone else who was around the pool. The evening entertainment was not that good so we went out most evenings.
