Basic hotel with a great location next to the beautiful cala ferrera. Food is ok but there's a large variety so you defintly won't starve. Rooms are basic and small but if youre lucky you'll have a perfect view over the cala and its turqouise waters. Swimming pool is small but who needs a pool when you have great water and bays within walking distance. Hotel is near the shopping streets. To sum it up, we had a good vacation over at Hotel Cala Ferrera. Would recommend it if your standards aren't so high.
Just returned after a week with family and friends. Hotel is clean although in need of a revamp can see probably one of the original cala ferrera hotels. Staff are friendly especially the entertainment guy who is great with the kids. Small pool so is very crowded and a sunbed battle in a morning but the sunbeds on the beautiful cove are plentiful. Hotel is situated perfectly off the main street of restaurants shops and bars and alongside a beautiful cove. Food and drink is basic but you wouldn't starve unless you very picky eater the mixed salads dressings etc are the best. Entertainment is basic for kids but they enjoyed it. The only negative thing i found was while other hotels ive stayed in most of the things are standard but here are payable extra like..air conditioning..tv..wifi although is available in lobby only..a fridge to store drinks and make up!..id also make sure of departure times as previously all inclusive carried on till departure but check out take bands off unless you pay 10€ per room to keep on till u leave and it will be 21€ to keep a room on which is normally the case..as i said get what you pay for so dont expect 4* or 5* if your only willing to pay 3* prices.
We have just came home from 2 weeks at this hotel.....the other bad reviews are totally wrong. We have stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago and found it good.....we payed extra for sea view this time which made a huge difference. You pay a €5 deposit for tv remote which you get back at end of holidays, food. was really good and replenished heaps during breakfast and dinner....we were half board. Room overlooked the sea and the pool, very quiet.....pool doesn't open till 9am so you cannot reserve sunbeds. Staff in restaraunt brilliant especially the wine waiters, as were reception staff....apart from 2 older ones who were very abrupt but rest of them great. Cleaners are great and sometimes we got a swan made out of a towel left on bed with 2 sweets, also got a red rose left one day. For the money you pay this hotel is brilliant.......if you want 5* service well pay 5* prices. The only thing I found is there's no hair dryer but luckily I took my own. All in all a fantastic 2 weeks.
This hotel is perfectly situated on a rocky cliff overviewing the beautiful bay. The price / quality ratio is very good. Reasons for us to return after a period of five years. Positive: - Very friendly and hardworking staff (thanks again Luis, Khalid & others) - Nice pool & terraces with seats, all kept clean very well - Rooms are simple but have all you need (except airco) - Entertainer Gregory is a real artist & great with kids! - Comfortable lobby & lounge / bar Room for improvement: - Diner quality has significantly dropped since our last visit (good salads & fruits, but a lot of cheap fried dishes, paella with almost no meat/fish, soggy "mousaka" with no potatoes) - Not really related to this hotel, but annoying nonetheless: every night very loud entertainment from a neighboring hotel (outside instead of inside) - Maintenance backlog in several places (e.g. doorposts of rooms) Dear hotel management, please invest in better food (less fried dishes, more choice in meats & fish, more variety, better taste), as it used to be several years ago! We've heard quite a lot of unsatisfaction from other hotel guests about the diners. Also for us this has been a real disappointment. Best regards, Patrick

Ok, so this is why we have trip advisor. Every negative review of this hotel is by people who clearly haven't done their research. Yes this hotel is dated. Yes there is no air con. Yes you have to pay for wifi. Yes the ai range is limited. I read reviews before booking so knew the negatives before my trip, but for the low price bracket of the hotel i accepted them. Ok, so on to the positives. Firstly, as everyone mentions, even the moaning ones, the location and view of the bay is stunning. A sea view does cost an extra 15e per night though but it's absolutely worth it. Secondly, I found the staff at the hotel to be extremely hard working and friendly. Especially the kitchen staff who are in there from pre 7am to after 10pm, and doing stints in the bar in between. Cleaners are efficient too, they usually come round after lunch so no early morning wake ups. An absolute credit to the hotel is Gregory who singled handedly does his damndest to entertain everyone . Mini club runs 10-11am (This is indoors in a play room with ball pit, and has access to small swing park at side of hotel) Then there's usually yoga or ping pong followed by water polo or scuba diving lesson. Twice a week Gregory organises a walking or cycling tour of cala dor. In the evening there's a mini disco for kids which they all seemed to go crazy for, then a variety of entertainment for adults, a show, quiz, karaoke. Admittedly a couple of acts were pretty dire. But gregorys talents seemed limitless, sometimes turning his hand to singing or playing guitar. The food we found to be typical 3 star buffet. We were always happy with what was on offer, and if you're really fussy there's always salads, soups, chips and pasta. Desserts were really lovely. If you fancy eating out the local area is packed with great restaurants and bars. Unfortunately the pound rate made me glad I wasn't self catering. There are 2 big fun parks less than 10 minutes away for kids which are great at 3 euro unlimited play. If you like a wander, cala dor centre is only 20 mins on foot and the marina about 30, definitely worth visiting. Cala dor/ferrera are lovely resorts for couples and families and I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again
Unfortunately, not a good experience! My room was overlooking the road next to the entrance! As there was no air con had to keep the door open and was kept awake all night by returning residents, coaches dropping off and collecting people and the bin men at 4 a.m. The lights from the entrance lit up my room like Blackpool illuminations as the curtains were so thin! Shower ceramic base had a hairline crack in it which led to a bigger crack where you step into the shower. Could cause a nasty accident! Informed Reception who were apathetic and showed no intention to fix and they didn't, same when I left! Hotel large, pool not big enough for the number of people in the hotel. Area around pool very noisy! and it was an interesting and funny sight to see people, once they had the ok from the pool man, to run as fast as they could to grab the available sunbeds! Food ok! The location of the hotel is excellent on headland with stunning views of the sea. Beach beautiful although very busy. Could pay and reserve sunbeds in advance. Boat trip was very enjoyable with fabulous views of the coastline and villas. I did struggle with this holiday as I was so tired from lack of sleep but having said that still enjoyed it! Cala D'Or is a beautiful place with the many little coves so I would like to return one day but would not return to this hotel.
Things just went from bad to worse for us, this was my partner's first holiday abroad which was a shame as I wished it would give a good first impression. The hotel rooms do not have air conditioning, or even a fan.. Yet they did have radiators, even if they were off... You have to pay for wifi €20 for a week, wasn't allowed it for 10 days & it hardly worked in the room! The food, although tasted nice, it unfortunately gave us both an awful tummy bug, to the point we were waking up at 4am with crippling stomach pain. Which lead to us having to draw more money out for us to eat out every day/night. They have a long list of all inclusive cocktails, great! However, it comes out of a juice machine! I was also told from the snack bar that I could not have a straw for my drink, as they were only for cocktails. Also, good luck getting a sunbed as there is people queuing there from before 9 (when the pool is open) with arms full of towels. One day 2 sunbeds were reserved by towels from 9am - 2pm when they finally returned & not one member of staff removed them!! Check out is at 11am but our pick up time was not until 4pm and they cut our all inclusive bands off and said we could no longer use their facilities! The only good things about this hotel were the location, Cala Ferrera/D'or is beautiful & we did have a lovely view of the beach. And also the rooms were cleaned & towels changed daily.
We stayed here with our friends for 1 week. The welcome was friendly and efficient. The room was spotless and the maid replaced the towels every day. The food was generally good. The bread was baked fresh in a special oven in the resteraunt every day. Delicious. The unbranded alcohol drinks were very acceptable. I can recommend the Gin and tonic. The entertainment was......well entertaining. The pool area was adequate but a little noisy but we found a quiet grassy area by the side of the pool bar. Perfect. Special mention to Maria at the pool bar. And also Maria in the restaurant. All of the staff worked especially hard to make our holiday a good one. Many thanks. I can recommend this hotel. Great value for money.
Before going to Hotel Cala Ferrera, I read some reviews which made me worry, but I had no need to, as the Hotel is very clean and I am sure is undergoing an update. The rooms were freshly decorated, spotlessly clean and towels were changed most days. The TV in the room was small but a flat screen curved style. There was no air conditioning though, so I'd recommend hiring a fan. We did B&B so I can't comment on all food, but the breakfast buffet was usual things and okay-ish. The Staff at the Hotel were good, especially Heidy on reception who went the extra mile to be helpful, always greets with a warm welcoming smile, very good people skills! The worst bit about the hotel is the serious lack of sun beds and having to queue and fight every morning at 9am to get one. It got a bit aggravating and tense at times with a few arguments among guests, this problem needs to be addressed, maybe with more sunbeds on the terrace. And we also noticed there was no life guard around the pool, which is maybe concerning for parents with young children. But all in all a fab location lots of bars and restaurants around.
