We have just returned from a lovely 5 day break at ths hotel. After reading previous reviews which were uncomplimentary regarding the food , we still booked all inclusive deciding to make up our own mind knowing some travellers can be overly picky when it comes to hotel catering. I have to say they were all correct , the food is awful in fact we binned off the all inclusive and ate out `even for breakfast`. The drink are as you suspect with all inclusive, local spirits but generous in size. The staff however are super friendly and when we did have a problem on arrival with the room allocated not having a sea view more of a glimpse, they sorted it very quickly the next day. The staff are super helpful and the rooms are dated but clean and spacious, the views are amazing and it's proximity to the beach perfect. The hotel is definitely worth a visit but not on an all inclusive basis , Cala Dor is a short walk with plenty to see on the way and the vibe of this area is super friendly and family orientated. Drinks and food are cheap , more expenive resteraunts are available but the standard of catering when eating out is in general very good. We would go back but room only. If the hotel invested a bit more into this element of their hospitality then this would be a perfect getaway for all.
Just views are great and perfect place next to beach and location is amazing. 5 min walk into Cala dor. Staff are great and Rooms are clean but food is poor breakfast just average needs more selection !! Tables should be laid for you. Best not to have all inclusive as you wouldn't want to be tied into the food as best to visit the lovely cheap restaurants around !
We went to this hotel for a quick week only booked a week before ggoing. You pay for what you get, very clean staff fantastic through out the hotel. It could do with a upgrade but I liked the feel of the place a bit Art Deco. Don’t expect 4 star it’s a basic 3 star but with charm. Would definitely go back just for the views and staff not the food though.
Just arrived back from a short stay at this hotel. I have stayed here before maybe two years ago and they have definitely improved their service but have also updated some areas of the hotel and the quality of the food in the restaurant is also better too. From reception to the pool bar, I could not fault the friendliness of the staff. The young lady in the pool bar had a smile every day and it made such a difference from the miserable chap that worked there when I went last time. I must also say, for a hotel, the prices of the drinks is very reasonable, I just wish the bar was open a little later. Location is good and not too far even to the marina which was an enjoyable walk. All in all, an excellent few days and I look forward to coming back again.
Just returned from a week at this hotel. Lots of negative comments on line which all proved not the case in reality, thankfully. The location in one of the best I've seen over looking the bay. The staff were all excellent and more than happy to help. Yes there are a few marks on the carpets in the corridor bit the rooms a were spotless with beds and towels changed daily. The food was good mostly, not much selection but always had a decent meal. The hotel allow you to take lunch instead of Dinner or upgrade to all inclusive on a daily basis, see picture. The animation team are great, Celia in particular makes the pool area buz with her games and costumes. Lots of bars and restraunts on the doorstep. I would hesitate to recommend this place.
This was an all inclusive holiday. However, at lunchtime you can have a beer in a small wine glass. You can refill as much as you want but takes away the enjoyment. When the bar is closed you can get beers from the pool bar but it is in plastic glasses. It is supposed to be local beers , wines and spirits. The list of what is in the all inclusive is VERY short. No dark rum, no brandy and the cocktails (4) are all from a machine. The food isn't really that good. Plenty of it but poor quality. Not really worth going all inclusive at this hotel. 3 nights out of the week there were yobs making loads of noise at 2.00am. If you hire a car you will be struggling to find a parking space.
Asked for seaview didn't get it Going to our room all carpets in hall way stained Room was very clean thankfully Food not very nice hardly any choice Chips a basic thing to cook always cold Entertainment minimal but saying that the 3 guys of the animation team were lovely Best bar man Juan big shout out to you oi oi Hotel is dated We still had a great time as your holiday is what you make it after all
We stayed here as a family of three, including our toddler for 10 days from the end of April 2018. The resort was beautiful - very pretty coves and lovely white buildings. No high rise skyscrapers or ugly buildings. The hotel has many good points - it is in an excellent location, only 2 mins walk down some steps to the pretty beach. It is a 15 minute walk away from the main town of Cala D'or so nice and peaceful, yet within easy reach. The staff were all friendly and the price of drinks was very good - much better value than the rest of Cala D'or which we found to be expensive for food and drink compared to mainland Spain. The childrens park in the hotel was very good, although equipment often got covered in sand. We saw many children enjoying the beach volleyball pitch too. Cala D'or itself was very pretty. A quieter resort than what we are used to, but it was very geared up for toddlers and young children (different play areas, rides, bouncy castles etc). There was a lovely park a 5 minute walk from the hotel turning right by the crazy golf course. Other playparks were quite poor & just consisted of a slide or a sea-saw. The negatives about the hotel were the food - it was quite basic and average at best. One night chicken nuggets were served raw. I pointed this out to the kitchen staff but they ignored me & continued to stir the raw nuggets in with the cooked nuggets. The towels were very, very thin as was the bedding and we never received a top up of bathroom condiments, even though we were staying for 11 days. I had to go out and buy more shower gel, shampoo etc and the local shops were very expensive. Small touches like this can change your impression of the hotel. Finally although we stayed early in the season as this is less likely a problem, the lock on our balcony door had been ripped off and we had no way of locking our balcony door. This meant we had to hide away valuables like the camera and our mobile phones in a locked suitcase. You had to pay for the TV remote control and safe (didn't bother us). So a no frills hotel in an excellent location. I'd definitely return again if the above negatives could be improved. I'd recommend Cala D'or for couples and families with children aged 3-5 (many paths not suitable for pushchairs, but older children may get bored of the resort) I hope this review is helpful. Thanks.
I visited on 30th April for 10 days with my friend,it was her 60th birthday on 2nd may and she wished to go back to this hotel because had many good holidays there.I had recently suffered a family bereavement but was glad I went.It is such a great location, staff as always were great, surprisingly there were a few loud groups who thought it was ok to push sunbeds out of the way and kick a heavy football around.I spoke to the manager and he spoke to each member of staff, and ensured would not happen again. It didn't.The manager said it is a quiet respectable family hotel, and it always has been.I enjoyed my stay as always.I always love the choices of breakfast and what a view from the restaurant.
just got back from cala ferrera after spending 2 weeks there! the views are lovely, the food is hit and miss, most of the staff are friendly except juan who never smiles. the entertainment is brilliant. celia and rick made my daughters holiday. i would definately stay there again!
