Ok, this hotel is more 3 stars than 4 but it provides everything you need for a holiday. We arrived 30th December and had a great night bringing in the New Year Spanish style. The hotel put on a gala dinner - delicious - and there was a free bar all night. They also provided soup and canapés during the night but we retired around 1am so missed out on that. We were not AI but half board. Our room was very spacious, clean and had lots of storage. We had a lovely view over the pool and the beach (No. 218). We didn't bother hiring a kettle or the safe but did use the towel hire for a couple of days. We found the staff to be very helpful and pleasant and the hotel has direct access to the beach and the town is within a very short waling distance. We were lucky with the weather which was sunny and warm every day. Don't let those bad reviews put you off trying out this hotel. Maybe I am not a fussy person but I certainly didn't find anything much to complain about. I just consider myself lucky to have been able to spend a week in the sun over the New Year period. My husband and I didn't use the pool. We are keen swimmers but this hotel pool is too shallow for swimming seriously. Might go to this hotel again but we rarely re-visit the same place as there is so much to see.
We are still at this hotel and can't go home till Thursday. We are in bed at nine pm. There is nothing whatsoever to do here. Were entertainment unless you count the screen showing silent football matches every night in the bar area. Not even a radio playing. Its like we are waiting to die. The only conscesion made to the fact that the weather is bad and therefore no beach is we were allowed to drink a cup of coffee this morning in the bar area. I fully understand the hotel is not responsible for bad weather but it wouldn't hurt to have a quiz or a karaoke or something. We are spending our days desperately trying to find something to occupy our 9 year old grandson and spending a fortune in the process. Hopefully if you are coming here then you are arriving in high season. Otherwise you too can spend your days crying in your room like I have been.
Stayed At This hotel, For A Week Over The Christmas 2017, Our Party Of Six Adults All Agreed The Food Was Terrible, For A Hotel Boasting A 4 Star Rating, We Stayed All Inclusive Which Was Good For Wine, Spirts, Beer, But The Snacks During The Day Was Only Crisps & Nuts ? And Entertainment, Day And Evening Was None existence, The Web Site Said It Had Archery And Salsa Classes Which It Did Not, The Chill Out Bar Was Never Open, And The Pool Bar Was Not Always Open, The Drop Of And Pick Up Point, Was About 150Meters Away From Hotel Entrance, Which Was Bad For Two Of Our Party With Mobility Problems, Not A Lot To Do At This Resort For A Weeks Holiday, We Will Not Be Stopping At This Hotel Or Resort Again.
Great location right on the beach stayed for week at new year great staff food ok always find something you like if not loads of other places to try Spanish Chinese Indian ect lots of nice bars short distance away entertainment a let down quiz disco ect would like to see more live bands but had great time weather was great
Once again with where at The Gran Hotel in La Cala for Christmas. We enjoyed a great 5 days here again a lovely relaxing time in a lovely hotel. The staff where excellent throughout the stay very friendly and helpful. The room are nice and big with loads of room with a good size bathroom. The food was very good a lot of choice which is always nice to have. The hotel is in a great place right by the beach and near to the town centre you can walk everywhere and there is also a great bus service along the coast so you may not need a car. This is our second time staying here and we will be back again.
Excellent stay here. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and modern. Food was very good especially for the amount they are cooking for. Pool bar and chill out area very good. Excellent location with plenty nearby. Gala dinner on New Year’s Eve was brilliant. Cannot rate this hotel enough
We were on 5th Floor,Room clean great view of Sea & Hotel Pool.Food very good choice some thing for every one.Staff very nice helpful. There was entertainment on the Saturday night, but not in the week with it being Winter.
This is a three star hotel at best (accomodation wise) The location of the hotel is superb, but the rest is poor. The food is adequate at breakfast, but really poor otherwise. Dinner consisted of very little choice and what there was was of a poor quality. The whole hotel is very tired and in need of refurbishment. The staff try very hard, but are working under pretty trying circumstances, with regard to the general condition of the hotel.
My husband and myself spent a week in the hotel,it was was nice and clean but had to chase the maids now and again for room clean/toilet roll. The food was lovely with plenty choice.Staff very friendly and always smiling,we had some beautiful walks here. The pool is not for swimming in but more of a cool down but no probs there when you are right next to the beach.Beach beautiful and clean with a little beach bar(nothing to do with the hotel) We also found a nice quite roof top are with sun beds tables and chairs,I think when the bar is opened in high season at this spot you have to pay for your drinks, but very nice and relaxing. The pool bar is just as nice with friendly smiles as well.We had very poor entertainment which again I think was because of the time of year, but would have been nice for just a bit more if possible. There was a Scottish Whisky demo downstairs once a week which was very interesting..We shall return again because Mijas itself was the most beautiful town I have ever seen, infact we would love to retire here.A big thank you to the all the staff.
Great location and room is fair cleaner very poor didn’t clean floors once and only pulled the covers up to make the bed the food wasn’t very good had to eat out most days I think it is because they don’t cater for the English palet Also we didn’t go all inclusive which I’m glad as you only got the cheap drinks but overall if you want a good location to explore the area then it is ok
