Hotel Sol Don Pablo, following refurbishment, is even better than before. Excellent facilities, daily activities and location. Quality of food in restaurant very good. Great value for money and look forward to many more holidays there
We were not originally going here but due to the collapse of Monarch we chose this hol.The refurb is very good if you like minimal, some we liked and somethings not so much.we asked for a walk in shower as I had recently had a hip replacement which we were given and this was very good. The male receptionists were very helpful and had a sense of humour! As it was November the pool area was in the shade quite early due to the building, perfect position on the sea front and a long flat walk both ways. The entertainment wasn't very good but there was something if you wanted it.I know people seem to like the food but we struggled to put a meal together even though there seemed to be plenty of choice, that could be personal choice I suppose. The Pedro was still very traditional but needed a refurb,at the end of our holiday they were closing it and moving everyone out to start the work,we liked the bar there for a quiet drink,it will be a shame if they take the heart out of that hotel. We had a pleasant hol but probably won't return but not because of anything bad just not for us.
We have been coming to the don Pablo for over 10 years to spend Christmas and New Year here (last year we were in don Marco because of the work being done in the Pablo) The new style of decor was a bit of a shock but it has grown on us quite like the way the restaurant is planned and the bar and reception area. Am rather puzzled why the bedrooms have been updated but not bathroom still got shower over bath and it is not easy to get in and out of shower ought to be a walk in shower and why is there no mirror in the bedroom where us ladies can sit and style our hair and put make up on power sockets for curling tongs or straighteners but no mirror to see what we are doing. Disappointed that the daytime activities have been cut back it's nearly all dancing lessons or learning Spanish no shuffleboard and sjoelen competitions now just one morning when they have a special morning even that has been shortened you used to play two rounds on each game not any more just one go and that's it would entertainment manager like to comment on why the popular games are no longer on the programme (never saw more than five joining in with the dance lessons but about fifteen joined in the games). Christmas was alright I don't know whose idea it was to have a violinist as the entertainment for the gala dinner but didn't make a party mood Estella came on and got the party going. New Year gala night was fantastic from start to finish great entertainment from Estrella and then a duo food brilliant staff worked hard to make it a success. Have always found the staff very helpful and polite cannot fault them. Good choice of food in restaurant usually hot but microwave if food needs a boost. Good entertainment at night.
we came to this hotel on 16th of december and left on the 3rd of january. the rooms were clean and well kept. towels were replaced every day. the staff all over the hotel were superb. it was my wifes 70th birthday while we were out there and i arranged flowers and a cake which were done at a small cost. the management also supplied a bottle of champagne which was excellent. the food was good. always something to eat.the salad bar was one of the best i have come across in spain. the gala dinner on christmas day and new years eve were brilliant. could not fault anything in this hotel. all in all a brilliant all inclusive holiday. a great big thank you to all the staff. i am now looking at a couple of weeks here in the summer
STAFF at check in or NOT helpful in anyway very cold towards you and also have u waiting a long time. Hairdresser very rude. Prices very expensive ! Hotle beautiful cleaners very nice STAFF LET IT DOWN BIG TIME.
Below is a detailed review of our stay at the Hotel Sol Don Pablo (Torremolinos) during the 1st week of January 2018 which may be of help to anyone considering staying at this hotel in the near future:- Check-in – We arrived at around 11am to be told that our room would not be ready until 2pm. Check-in was painfully slow which was partly due to the Hotels computer system running slow but also to the several ignorant flight crews from Aeroflot that just pushed to the front of the queue with no regard for other guests! After finally being checked in we left our cases in the secure luggage room and returned at 2pm. Room – We had requested a room on the highest floor possible on the “sunny side” (rooms overlooking the bowling greens) of the hotel so that we would be on the opposite side to where the renovation work was being carried out on the 2 sister hotels Don Pedro & Marco which we were glad we did as we would have found the noise from the ongoing building work intrusive. Our requests were met and we were delighted to have been allocated a room on the 7th floor on the “sunny side”. However when we opened the door to the room it was a very hot and uncomfortable 30 degrees! Rooms on the "sunny side" of the hotel get the sun almost from when the sun rises until it sets. The alternative would be a room overlooking the pool however these are in the shade for most of the day and overlook the building currently being done on the Pedro & Marco. In addition to this many of the benefits of paying more for a XTRA room were missing i.e. bath robes, bath towels, flip flops the sofa currently shown in the picture on the hotels official website and the Bluetooth speaker tower. We went back down to reception to explain the situation. Shortly afterwards there was a knock on the door and the maid dropped in the missing towels and bath robes etc and a couple of maintenance guys delivered a decent fan to help cool the room down which was very much appreciated. Nothing was done about the missing sofa so maybe the hotel needs to update their website information as it is a little misleading. Although we did not use it the Bluetooth speaker tower was also bought to the room although this is probably only going to cause the hotel problems especially when an inconsiderate neighbour uses it without a thought for their neighbours and all you can here in your room is a thumping base line! Despite requesting a double bed the room came with 2 singles which we found very comfortable. The room was a good size. Apart from the mirrored wardrobes the only mirror was in the bathroom so unless your hair dryer etc. has a very long lead you may want to take 1 with you. There were 5 power sockets in the bedroom and plenty of storage space although only 5 hangers in the wardrobe which was not a problem as we always take extra. The wardrobes also housed an excellent sized safe that swallowed our net book and other valuables with ease. This was chargeable at 2 Euros per day. The balcony was a good size with 2 chairs and a table and had nice views although the glass wall dividers offer very little privacy. The free WIFI was at times frustratingly slow and intermittent although when connected was fine for sending emails and web browsing. Bathroom - The bathroom was ok. The shower over the bath had reasonable water pressure and hot water was always available on demand but had a habit of suddenly changing to scalding hot for a few seconds which happened every time we took a shower! The maid cleaned the room daily to a good standard, towels were changed daily and the bed linen once during our 5 night stay. Restaurant – We stayed Half Board and there was always an extensive choice to choose from. As with most buffet style hotel restaurants the hot dishes were rarely hot enough although there was a microwave available to heat things up. I personally did not like the bacon served at breakfast which was poor quality full of fat and did not taste anything like bacon. The chicken sausages were not much better. However there was still an excellent selection of other items to choose from. A 500ml bottle of still water was 2.20 Euros, and half a bottle of house red wine 7.20 Euros. The restaurant is very large and at times could be very noisy with children crying, screaming and being allowed to run freely around the restaurant by inconsiderate parents which spoilt our dinning experience. Ingles Bar and outside areas - There was only ever 1 barmen serving which often created queues. A pint of Cruz Campo was 4.90 Euros. The outside terraces and gardens were clean and very well maintained. Location - The hotel is in an excellent location just across the road from the beach and with many shops, bars and restaurants within short walking distance. You can also walk all the way into Benalmadena along the flat promenade. There is a small taxi rank across the road directly opposite the hotel entrance which was ideal for getting back to the airport with no need to book in advance. The area and the hotel was thankfully peaceful at night as we had to sleep with the balcony door open because the room was still uncomfortably hot. To sum up we had a very enjoyable holiday. The Sol Don Pablo is a very good quality hotel that was kept spotlessly clean. Most of the staff that we spoke to were polite, friendly, and helpful and all worked incredibly hard. The only things that would make us think twice about returning would be the noisy dinning room and uncomfortably hot rooms.
Stayed for 4 nights over new year. The hotel is well located for beach or old town, is recently rennovated to a high standard although some furnishings in public areas look a bit cheap (white buttoned sofas for example) Food was generally of a good standard with reasonable choice. The New Years Eve Gala dinner was amazing with aperitifs including a wine, cava, cocktails and a great sushi withwith dreid onion amongst many. This was followed by an excellent 7 courses with free flowing drinks of good quality and choice. Hope to be able to go again
The don pablo is a very very good hotel very clean and the staff are very friendly The only down side was the food, during December when we was staying the food was Bland and repetitive but I can understand that with staff numbers reduced for winter But it will not deter me from returning
Another week at Don Pablo and once again a great experience This was our third Christmas at Don pablo, the weather was lovely ,food good staff helpful and friendly. The Gala dinner and dance on Christmas night was great .A girl playing the violin and two singers ,the meal was lovely and plenty of wine to wash it downThe only complaint was there is still work going on around Don Marco so it was a bit noisy at times I want to praise all the staff on their great work .looking forward to our next stay.
Had a very nice Christmas break in the Don Pablo in Torremolinos. Had never stayed there before but have been in it often for entertainment. The Festive Programme was very good, Live music every night and Shows on several nights. Gala Christmas dinner was superb and the went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed it.
