Marriott's Playa Andaluza

Really lovely complex. All the staff were so helpful and friendly. The whole place is spotless. Four pools meant there was no problem getting a sun bed even at half term. Only downside it's difficult to swim in the sea as lots of stones but it's nice to sunbathe on the beach. Lots of restaurants around.

This hotel manages to combine the huge American brand name with amazing personal service. Nothing is too much trouble. Alarm went off on bedroom clock at 4 30am by mistake and staff could not do enough to compensate us. Offered free drinks and a late check out. A tour to Granada disappointed and concierge got us a 50% reduction. Could not have done better myself. It's a large resort but never feels crowded. Lovely beach and pools and excellent cocktails. Can't wait to return next year. Idyllic for families or those looking to chill in well maintained surroundings

This was a wonderful resort for our family's first trip to Spain. We used it as our base for traveling around the southern region. Our 2 bedroom was clean, comfortable, and had every amenity we expect from Marriott. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and there were so many activities to keep the kids entertained- 3 pools, badminton, ping -pong, paddle tennis, even mini golf. The Marketplace had a lot of kitchen staples (plus there's an Aldi a short distance away). Everyone on staff was very friendly and helpful. Although it's located on the beach, the shoreline is very rocky, so it wasn't a great swimming beach for us. If we had swim shoes like others we saw, this would've helped. Dinner at Solera the first night was pretty good, although not our best meal in Spain. Nevertheless, we were very happy with our stay at Plaza Andaluza and would come again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, the condos are beautiful and the swimming pools were out of this World. The two girls that held the water aerobics class were very friendly and made the class fun. The restaurant and bar served excellent food and drinks - happy hours were always good and featured a different frozen drink daily. I would highly recommend Marriott's Playa Andaluza to anyone.

Outstanding artistic interpretation and performance of many of rock and roll royalty hits, bringing back that special feeling. Thank you Antony, you raise the already fabulous feel of Marriot to higher ground and made our stay this week that much better as well!!

This was probably not the place for us. Miles of hotels and condos on the beach. We were more interested in seeing the sights in southern Spain, and this place was more geared to vacationers. We had just come from Morocco which was so interesting and fascinating. Our unit was on the bottom floor, no view, by the office, so sitting on the patio was a bust. We spent most of our time going places, although it's not easy to park in Estepona old town, Marbella Old town, or Gibraltar. If doing it over, I would skip this beach area and hope to find a smaller hotel in a place like Benahavis...which by the way has wonderful restaurants. The people at the Marriott were all helpful...their wifi was down and they went to great lengths to be sure that I eventually got connected. All in all, a nice place, but it could have been anywhere...Hawaii, Florida, etc.

We just spent our 25th wedding anniversary at the Playa Andaluza and made the best of what we could. Somehow, this property gets excellent reviews and is highly sought after. The beach is sad, and there is nothing to do within walking distance. Even at Execute ownership level, we could only get a small garden view guest room booking 9 months in advance and wait-lists for every room style did not help. At time of check-in, we learned that there were other rooms available for cash, but not for points. The room was furnished with two separate twin beds! Very romantic. Only after changing our attitude from polite guests to angry owners did they finally merge the beds with a common sheet and bedding (should have been the default). The resort gardens and property is very nice and the staff in general is very friendly. The Solera restaurant on-site also does a good job with meals through-out the day and has evening entertainment. The Beach is very disappointing with dark (and HOT) sand and a very, very rocky waterline. There is only one restaurant within walking distance of the resort and there is no shopping or other activities within walking distance of the resort. A vehicle at this property is a MUST since there are several great things to do within driving distance such as Marbella, and Puerto Banus. Fortunately we did have a vehicle and spent little time at the resort.

Our unit was wonderful and definitely up to Marriott standards. The decorations and furniture were all beautiful. We try to stay here every year as it is truly a lovely quality resort! The location was perfect and the little store was well-stocked, There are always well-planned activities

Normally we stay two separate weeks but this review is for a two week stay in May. I have written reviews on this place before so will try not to repeat myself. You may ask why I say in the title that it keeps getting better. This time its mainly about the staff. Whether its the person at the security gate, or at reception, in the shop or serving you in the bar or restaurant, everyone is super friendly and trying their best to make your stay just that bit more enjoyable. The grounds and rooms themselves are every bit as good as ever and the menu in the restaurant remains solid. We had a great time interacting with the two chefs Antonio and Daniel who seemed to enjoy someone showing an interest in their culinary skills. We had my 90 year old father in law with us who is not good on his feet so concierge organised a wheel chair for a week for just €65. We are fans of one of the singers who comes to the hotel (Anthony Wolfson) but Marriott seem to have dropped one of his nights and the alternatives are simply not a match for the loss. Marriott should be aware that we (and others) left the hotel and spent the evening at a different hotel to allow us to enjoy more than just one performance in two weeks. The weather for us was perfect and if you like 24C (low seventies in old money) and sunshine (i.e. not too hot) then May is a great time to visit normally. We used the BBQ area one lunchtime which worked well. We can highly recommend the concierge service for anything from local restaurant info to trips out to Granada, Cadiz, Cordoba, Tangier and more.

We had a wonderful week at this resort, located on the beautiful Costa Del Sol. The property, inside the units and throughout the public areas, is absolutely beautiful and beautifully maintained. The amenities are peerless (though outdoor pools, unheated, are not quite ready for swimming in early May). The beach is a bit rocky and also not quite ready for full enjoyment in May. But the flowering trees are incredible and the whole area just gleams, without the summer crowds, and traffic, to detract. And the indoor pool, spas, and fitness center are all everything you could ask for. The balconies are awesome. This is a car-needed resort, with easy parking and easy access to the entire of Andalucia, once you learn the unfamiliar road patterns. We took excursions to Tangiers (through the resort) and also got help planning outings to the Alhambra and to the Horse Show in Jerez, where it was also Horse Festival time. The Concierge staff is superb, and Thomasso (sp?) was absolutely wonderful with arrangements. There was daily light housekeeping, adding yet another luxury touch. The on-site restaurant, pool bar, and market shop are all unusually good for a MVC property. We enjoyed the entertainment, especially the flamenco show. We felt welcomed and like old-timers, though it was our first visit. We will make every effort to return to this resort, in May or at almost any other time.
