Thon Gyldenlove is on a convenient street walking distance from downtown but sufficiently far away that its in a real neighborhood and not touristy. The breakfast was spectacular with pickled herring and other Norwegian treats. Only downside was a bit of noise at night from the bar below, on one side of the hotel. All together, I highly recommend it.
I did some shopping and sightseeing. Hotel is on main shopping street and restauraunts.
I planned this trip as a weekend for the guys. The hotel was easy to find it's about a 10 min walk south from Majorstuen metro station. 20 min walk from the city center. We booked the room for three people and recieved a corner room with balcony. We also recieved complimentry breakfast. The only down side is the window into the shower and toilet area. Overall great room and highly recommend.
