First of all this hotel is in the best location. Being in a city, you'd expect some noise, from the road outside, though this is not that intrusive, except for passing emergency vehicles. The staff are helpful and welcoming. However the rooms, are well, somewhat dated. Having tried another other Tryp hotel in Cologne, this is an unfortunate theme. Given we were in Madrid in 30' heat, the air-con was unfortunately a little hit and miss. To be honest though i have had to experience much much worse in other countries. Move away from this, and you get a good nights sleep at a reasonable price. You pay for the location in fairness though. The breakfast buffet was nice. Lots of fresh food to choose from. If you are adventurous, try the Tapas bar two days away on the left. All in all i would use and recommend this hotel again. Thanks.

The hotel is in great space, in the downtown, near main squares, shops, cafes. Nice bedroom and bathroom, very good breakfast, and polite personel. The lifts are very small, so it takes time to get down to the lobby for a check-out. I forgot something in the room and could not find it when I returned back, a few days after. All in all, still I would say, the hotel is nice for busines or sightseeing in Madrid.

Bright cheery welcome. Staff speak good English and I found them very helpful. Clean room, spotless bathroom. Shower worked fine and steady temperature. Breakfast choices excellent with something for every taste. Would stay here again.

Good hotel for sightseeing or business. A little shabby but perfectly acceptable. Staff are amazing. Every single one without exception was courteous, helpful and warm. Breakfast was typical continental with lots of choice. Great bar prices (I compare to London - bottle of Cava €14). My room smelt of drains and I was moved without question when I raised this with staff. Would stay again.

This is an ok hotel that offers a clean bed and a shower. For an American, this would be more like a two star. It's small with a stiff bed (typical in Europe) but it is also lacking a mini bar/fridge, coffee machine or kettle. The staff is pleasant and friendly, the room is clean and it's on Gran Via. It's not worth the price but the location is great with two metro stations nearby.

Even though the reception is small the rooms are a very good size. The location is great, though the rooms can get a bit loud due to the Mercado in the back. Breakfast is slightly tired, but again totally adequate.. and you could always go Starbucks across the street if you don't like it. Would not oppose staying again

This hotel is okay. It ticks all the 'weekend away' boxes where not much time is spent in the hotel. It is clean and is adequate enough with its services, but most importantly quite central to a lot of shops and bars. Would recommend if going for a short weekend and no longer.

This hotel is comfortable. The staff is bilingual and very helpful when wanting to know anything about Madrid and areas around. When asking about getting to tourist day trip locations, the staff took the time to write out train numbers, buses and more. Just so very helpful. Around the corner on Gran Via there is a Mall called Primark Gran Via. My wife spent two days in here. Such great deals that she kept going back for more and had to buy another suit case for the trip back but is another story. There are also restaurants around every corner. Back to the hotel. The rooms are great and there is a restaurant on the first floor for breakfast. We didn't eat breakfast as we would go out each morning before breakfast started.

The location cannot be better, in the great Gran Via. The check-in was handled very friendly, the room was clean and the amenities very nice. The buffet breakfast worth it, it is very varied and good quality, which in addition to the good views from the dining room, makes it worth to have breakfast there instead of in a bar around. They allowed us to keep our luggage the next day until the afternoon in the next hotel which belongs also to the company. When I go back to Madrid I will book in this hotel again.

I have stayed many times at this very centrally located hotel where front desk--rooms and breakfast are always excellent. Saturday night -- it was a disaster. I assume a senior Manager instructed the engineer to open the bathroom heating system to such an extent it was difficult to sleep. Right now Madrid is basking in wonderful sunny weather with daily temps of 25c and at night 17c. The A/C has been disconnected in the rooms and radiators in the bathrooms over which the guest has no control are switched on--blazing heat. All rooms in the hotel have this issue and guests must open windows or terrace doors to let out the heat to survive. What kind of a manager would ignore the protocols of the Melia Group GREEN guidelines and behave in this outrageous manner. Guests in the lifts and at breakfast were discussing the issue. Right now this is a hotel to be avoided if u wish to sleep unless management change and lower the room temps., I went in the evening at 18h to reception and complained--nothing could be done to help --all rooms have the unfortunate problem. The world is trying to conserve energy and this manager is determined to go her way. Melia Corporate please do something about this problem.
