This is an ok hotel that offers a clean bed and a shower. For an American, this would be more like a two star. It's small with a stiff bed (typical in Europe) but it is also lacking a mini bar/fridge, coffee machine or kettle. The staff is pleasant and friendly, the room is clean and it's on Gran Via. It's not worth the price but the location is great with two metro stations nearby.
Even though the reception is small the rooms are a very good size. The location is great, though the rooms can get a bit loud due to the Mercado in the back. Breakfast is slightly tired, but again totally adequate.. and you could always go Starbucks across the street if you don't like it. Would not oppose staying again
This hotel is okay. It ticks all the 'weekend away' boxes where not much time is spent in the hotel. It is clean and is adequate enough with its services, but most importantly quite central to a lot of shops and bars. Would recommend if going for a short weekend and no longer.
This hotel is comfortable. The staff is bilingual and very helpful when wanting to know anything about Madrid and areas around. When asking about getting to tourist day trip locations, the staff took the time to write out train numbers, buses and more. Just so very helpful. Around the corner on Gran Via there is a Mall called Primark Gran Via. My wife spent two days in here. Such great deals that she kept going back for more and had to buy another suit case for the trip back but is another story. There are also restaurants around every corner. Back to the hotel. The rooms are great and there is a restaurant on the first floor for breakfast. We didn't eat breakfast as we would go out each morning before breakfast started.
The location cannot be better, in the great Gran Via. The check-in was handled very friendly, the room was clean and the amenities very nice. The buffet breakfast worth it, it is very varied and good quality, which in addition to the good views from the dining room, makes it worth to have breakfast there instead of in a bar around. They allowed us to keep our luggage the next day until the afternoon in the next hotel which belongs also to the company. When I go back to Madrid I will book in this hotel again.
I have stayed many times at this very centrally located hotel where front desk--rooms and breakfast are always excellent. Saturday night -- it was a disaster. I assume a senior Manager instructed the engineer to open the bathroom heating system to such an extent it was difficult to sleep. Right now Madrid is basking in wonderful sunny weather with daily temps of 25c and at night 17c. The A/C has been disconnected in the rooms and radiators in the bathrooms over which the guest has no control are switched on--blazing heat. All rooms in the hotel have this issue and guests must open windows or terrace doors to let out the heat to survive. What kind of a manager would ignore the protocols of the Melia Group GREEN guidelines and behave in this outrageous manner. Guests in the lifts and at breakfast were discussing the issue. Right now this is a hotel to be avoided if u wish to sleep unless management change and lower the room temps., I went in the evening at 18h to reception and complained--nothing could be done to help --all rooms have the unfortunate problem. The world is trying to conserve energy and this manager is determined to go her way. Melia Corporate please do something about this problem.
Chess but IT comes with The price that The standard is not The best! Nice enighet gut IT is Word down, despite to sevral paintowers, low on facilities. - gym was a mini gym where sevral machines was out of order. !
I booked it under HANDICAPPED FRIENDLY advertisement Unfortunately you can't at Gran Via , they have no luggage MALETERO service, in another words, and to make a long story short, THEY CHARGE YOU and you get nothing I had to cancel and go to another hotel with parking and MALETERO, service
The first surprise came when I tried to enter the hotel – there were renovations ongoing on the ground floor and the whole reception area was closed. I was directed two doors down the street to another Tryp hotel – which actually is in the adjacent building. They took care of the check-in there and then had me take one lift up one floor, change lifts (short walk to the other building) and then take another lift up to the 9th floor. This wasn't actually a big bother, but I would have appreciated it if I had been told about it beforehand. The hotel rooms have been recently renovated in a very cheap and plain way. Expect the bare minimum, but a clean and spotless environment. The bathroom hadn't been renovated, but it was nice and clean nevertheless. All rooms come with a bathtub. Renovations in the public areas were ongoing, but I didn't experience any noise. They seem to be doing everything very cheaply, which is sort of sad, but the hotel is a budget one and the price is very good. Paid about €70 a night for a queen room, booked two days in advance. I would recommend the hotel to anyone who appreciates a prime location and doesn't need pampering. A solid and clean three-star city hotel, but don't expect any extras. Staff speaks English well, although they did highly appreciate my attempts at Spanish.
