We just returned from Madrid. Our stay at Totem was wonderful. Our room was very nice, we loved being able to open the doors to let fresh air in. Bed was so comfortable!! The service from the front desk, bellmen, bar and restaurant were all top notch! Loved the location to get out and walk. Will definitely stay there again.

I stayed for one night but I wish I could have stayed a week. I had the pleasure of a corner room on the third floor. The room had three tall, double doored windows that opened to juliet balconies. To have that much fresh air and to look out on to leafy Salamanca was a treat. The decor was stunning - very chic. My corner room was spacious and equipped with a coffee maker and probably the most comfortable bed I've ever experienced in a hotel. Big fluffy pillows and a down duvet made the bed dreamy. The bathroom and glass shower were huge and as lovely as the rest of the room's decor. The lobby bar is very chic, albeit quiet the night I was there (Sunday). It was certainly quiet at the hotel and surrounding neighbourhood. If you want a quiet location, the Totem is in the right spot. But if you want something more central and near more action like you might find in a area like Chueca, you might want to stay elsewhere. Salamanca is green, leafy and quiet, especially on Sunday when most of the shops in the area are closed. But if you like peace and quiet, this is the place to stay. The hotel arranged for transfer to and from the hotel.

Only 15 minutes from the airport and within walking distance of fabulous shops and delightful restaurants, this boutique hotel is perfectly located for exploring the city. The staff were extremely helpful and all the places they suggested to eat at were terrific, particularly Habaneras, a Cuban restaurant. The rooms were lovely as was the breakfast in their street level restaurant. We loved it and will definitely go back.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at this great boutique hotel in the wonderfully chic Salamanca area. The staff were very efficient and friendly and we received great customer service, particularly from Daniel Heeley on Reception who made our stay extra special. Great city, great hotel and staff! Favourite restaurants nearby were Amazonico and Habanera.

Stayed here for the second time in approx 4 mos, but this time it was a personal visit my husband. We did encounter a small issue upon check in; the room I booked for on line via Tablet, was very different in size than the room we were given. But I spoke to the front desk staff, explained the situation and after some resistance and reluctancy my we were switched over to a bigger room, but this was still very very small for two persons. Overall' still love the location of the hotel, staff are very kind and attentive, rooms are very clean and beds are super comfortable. Rooms are small however, so my suggestion is to go one grade up if 2 persons. I'm not saying this as I am a North American snob expecting very large and well appoint,ed rooms. As this is a boutique hotel after all. But, the rooms are exceptionally small....Greta for 1 person but certainly challenging for 2 persons. Restaurant is fabulous for breakfast and the bar is superb for cocktails. Love the Spanish Caucasian bar tender, as he knows how to mix drinks....sorry but I cannot recall his name. He has a goti, and is a superb mixologist!!! Definitely a fabulous place to stay!

Lovely ( though large for a boutique) hotel in well placed position, especially if you want to shop :). We loved the proximity to Retiro Park, also. Luxurious room, although it was on the level 5 attic floor and had no window except a skylight, which did in fact open. Comfortable bed, and a very well appointed bathroom including a lovely bath. Not inexpensive - however all the little extras you would expect were present. Excellent bar off the lobby - we did not eat at the restaurant however menu and room looked good.

Our tour agent gave us a list of 3-4 hotels to choose from and based on what we read in Trip Advisor, we chose Totem, Madrid for its proximity to Madrid's attractions, eating places and value for money. We were not disappointed at all. The staff were helpful and the rooms were comfortable. Even the toilets had a full complement of toiletries provided. Very impressed.

We stayed at Totem in central Madrid twice over the past week for a total of 5 nights. This hotel gets all the basics just right. It offers well priced luxury and style in a perfect location for exploration of central Madrid as well as sightseeing and shopping. Our room was a little small for two people but the quality of the bed and linen was superb. Very comfy. The room was quiet with double glazing, fantastic shower soap and shampoo and a well stocked fridge. The decor is classic contemporary, we loved it. The only negative we experienced was the cost of the in-house breakfast which is unreasonable, so rather enjoy breakfast outside the hotel. That said, their restaurant is very good and the truffel pasta and panacotta was absolutely delicious. The staff were great - friendly and professional. Special thanks to Daniel, Andres and Sinan for being so attentive and helpful. Highly recommended!

We had a great stay at the Totem hotel in Madrid. The hotel staff was always top notch, the room (one of ones in the attic) was fantastic; wonderfully comfortable bed, splendid bathroom with bathtub and separate rain shower, plenty of space and quiet - never heard a noise. The ceiling window provided plenty of natural light and the electric blind provided a perfect black out. It also opened to allow fresh air in which is much appreciated. Location could not be better. The breakfast was splendid and we also had a fantastic evening meal in their restaurant. A couple critical comments though: The breakfast staff team was clearly understaffed and on occasion this showed in that they were not particularly pleasant or caring. We could tell it wasn’t something personal, just not enough people for proper service. Another minor thing was that the minibar operates in a strange low power mode meaning beverages (beer and wine specially) were not very cold at all. Also, we had a baby with us and we had to keep ordering ice to keep the milk properly cold. That said, we will definitely be back!

I literally had zero time to research a hotel in Madrid as I booked this based on location. Was I happily surprised! The staff is so nice and cordial. They were multi-lingual and made me feel at ease whether I spoke Spanish or English. I attempted to check in early to no avail. But, they told me to grab a bite at their restaurant for brunch while I waited. (On an aside, the food was amazing and plentiful. The service was great as well.) After brunch, I went back to the lobby reception where they informed me that I had been upgraded for my wait. What a nice surprise! The suite was huge with a lovely couch, flat screen TV, a huge desk and marble bathroom. This place is clean beyond belief! I was both comfortable and happy. The only issue was that the rooftop window (as I was on the top floor) would not close. It wasn't open per se, but it was bright and faced the sun. I had no complaints of this since because let's be honest, it was an upgrade. When I spent a bit of time the next day to speak to family (who had been caught in the hurricane) and lost track of time, they made zero issue of my late checkout. What a kind caring staff with great service. I only wish I had another night to spend, but since they were sold out, I had to go to a hotel down the street the next day. If you get a good deal on the rate, stay here! You will not regret it.
