I really enjoyed staying at this place. My wife so so because of the people coming in to their rooms late at night. We had an interior room and that really made the difference. Low rooms facing calle Montera might be a problem because there are people having fun all night every night. The service was excellent and the price very adequate.
Amazing location! Found this hotel instantly, you get off the metro at Gran Via and you can see it. The reception area is on the first floor and then through a door that looks like a door to an apartment. Once inside you realize how awesome and trendy this place really is. The staff at the reception are very friendly and eager to help. Excellent location right on Gran Via, and just a few steps from Plaza del Sol or, on the other side, Barrio Chueca. Room is spacious and very Clean comfortable. The view from the rooftop balcony was great. A great choice in Madrid!!!
Stayed at Praktik Metropol for 4 nights. Was very easy to get to from train station via the metro. It is right across from a metro stop, in the main area. I booked a double exterior room. It was very large and looked out on the street. At night the room darkening blinds didn't cover the whole windows and the light from the tv screens on the street shone in but this didn't bother me. Bed was very comfortable and you are able to regulate the a/c yourself. Front desk staff was helpful - providing directions and booking a taxi for my departure. My only complaint would be that the room could have been cleaner. There was a visible build up of dust on the furniture and lighting in the room and bathroom. Everything I needed was in walking distance. I really enjoyed my stay.
This is a really nice hotel, decorated in a funky modern way. The hotel staff were superbly helpful, spoke excellent English, and were extremely polite. The receptionist to whom we complained about the sewage smell in our room did not, however, look surprised. The second room they gave us (without any fuss, in fairness) was better, but there was still a little bit of a smell. At least in the second room the smell wasn't bad enough to wake you up. I realise that old plumbing can be problematic to fix, but it ruined what would otherwise have been a near-perfect hotel for us. The windows had secondary double glazing, blocking out a lot of the city noise effectively. Of course, that's for naught if you need to open the windows to be able to breathe.
We found this hotel online and we went through many reviews before booking it. We were not disappointed we did. It is a very nice place. People are always smiling and are kind. We dealt with a few different members of the staff and everyone was EXTREMELY helpful and kind and gave us information and suggestion. One big thank you to Alba, she was just like a guardian angel. Enjoyed the space and the rooms, too. Clean, functional and comfortable. We had an amazing view of the street and of the Gran Via on our own balcony! We also took advantage of the rooftop terrace and spent some time there, took pictures of Madrid from the top and noticed so many more things we had missed from the ground. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel as my experience was all positive. We had free Wi Fi so the question about the "paid internet" not sure what that means in the questionnaire here below. We got there by taxi and Montera is a pedestrian area/piatonal so we just had to cross the street from the Gran Via and the hotel was right there. So close to the Gran Via and to everything around there.
What is prerequisite to choose a hotel? If it is its location, this hotel is the best choice. just in front of subway station, 3 mins to walk to Espana sq, a lot of awesome restaurants around this area. You can stand a super small room, no freezer.
My wife and I booked into the hotel for a week starting 16th June. The location is good although it can get noisy. There is currently building work going on right outside the hotel and at the building opposite. The reason I have given this "hotel" 3 stars is because of the service from reception. We arrived on Tuesday and the temperature was high 30's and the cold water dispenser in reception was empty. Wednesday still empty and reception advised possibly refill by tomorrow. It was a welcome arrival on Thursday but ran out again on Friday. "Perhaps next week" was the reply from a very uninterested receptionist. When I pointed out that most good hotels would provide cold drinking water for guests I was advised that Paktik Metropol was not a hotel but a hostel. I was unaware of this when booking. Reception staff have not generally been helpful which goes against other Tripadvisor reports. I can recommend Madrid though. Absolutely stunning city with fabulous architecture and restaurants and tapas bars. We went on a tapas and wine evening with Devour tours and highly recommend it. Toledo too is a must for a day trip. I would return to Madrid in an instant but would give Paktrik a miss.
I stayed with a friend for two nights in May. This was my favorite stay of our trip. We arrived around 10am from an overnight train from Lisbon to store our luggage, and to our surprise, we were able to get into our room. I know that's not something that can always be available, but we so appreciated having a place to clean up after sleeping on the train. The facilities are very nice and modern. We spent an evening enjoying the rooftop terrace and relaxed in the lobby/coffee area before leaving for our train after checking out. They offer breakfast vouchers at a nearby cafe, but I just grabbed something quick at the McDonald's that's next door. Our room and bathroom were spacious and functional. The shower was great, and I liked having all the hooks around the room to hang various bags/towels/laundry. The location was perfect for sightseeing. We walked to all of the major sites and did not use any public transport or cabs. I'd suggest this hotel to anyone going to Madrid. The location and price are hard to beat.
A very nice hotel with lots of lovey features. The rooftop terrace has great views and the lobby is a nice area for coffees and checking in. The products in the bathroom are good and there was a nice balcony over looking Gran Via.
I am currently staying at this hotel for 8 nights. It's of quirky design. Rooms are small but clean and modern. There is a roof top terrace and a lounge looking onto Calle Montera which is a busy area at corner of Gran Via. Very close to metro Gran Via.
