My wife and I booked into the hotel for a week starting 16th June. The location is good although it can get noisy. There is currently building work going on right outside the hotel and at the building opposite. The reason I have given this "hotel" 3 stars is because of the service from reception. We arrived on Tuesday and the temperature was high 30's and the cold water dispenser in reception was empty. Wednesday still empty and reception advised possibly refill by tomorrow. It was a welcome arrival on Thursday but ran out again on Friday. "Perhaps next week" was the reply from a very uninterested receptionist. When I pointed out that most good hotels would provide cold drinking water for guests I was advised that Paktik Metropol was not a hotel but a hostel. I was unaware of this when booking. Reception staff have not generally been helpful which goes against other Tripadvisor reports. I can recommend Madrid though. Absolutely stunning city with fabulous architecture and restaurants and tapas bars. We went on a tapas and wine evening with Devour tours and highly recommend it. Toledo too is a must for a day trip. I would return to Madrid in an instant but would give Paktrik a miss.
I stayed with a friend for two nights in May. This was my favorite stay of our trip. We arrived around 10am from an overnight train from Lisbon to store our luggage, and to our surprise, we were able to get into our room. I know that's not something that can always be available, but we so appreciated having a place to clean up after sleeping on the train. The facilities are very nice and modern. We spent an evening enjoying the rooftop terrace and relaxed in the lobby/coffee area before leaving for our train after checking out. They offer breakfast vouchers at a nearby cafe, but I just grabbed something quick at the McDonald's that's next door. Our room and bathroom were spacious and functional. The shower was great, and I liked having all the hooks around the room to hang various bags/towels/laundry. The location was perfect for sightseeing. We walked to all of the major sites and did not use any public transport or cabs. I'd suggest this hotel to anyone going to Madrid. The location and price are hard to beat.
A very nice hotel with lots of lovey features. The rooftop terrace has great views and the lobby is a nice area for coffees and checking in. The products in the bathroom are good and there was a nice balcony over looking Gran Via.
I am currently staying at this hotel for 8 nights. It's of quirky design. Rooms are small but clean and modern. There is a roof top terrace and a lounge looking onto Calle Montera which is a busy area at corner of Gran Via. Very close to metro Gran Via.
Having spent 10 days travelling a few places around Spain this was our final destination before flying back in the morning. And whilst the place had character and was quirky and the hotel in an ideal location for exploring we only booked this room to ensure a good few hours sleep before having to go to the airport. we paid over 80 Euro and 24 Euro on parking in order to lay on a bed with our room lit up like a disco. There are large screens in the centre that shined directly in to the room. Whilst the room was equip with. Black out blinds they weren't big enough to cover the window and still flashing lights shone. The 'bathroom' - which is literally a cupboard with a toilet and shower put in and the sink in the bedroom. That's not an issue, what I found an issue Is the door didn't close, there was no privacy between the bathroom and the bedroom. The saving grace was the roof terrace as it gave good views over Madrid. With us flying early morning we wanted to get up and see the sun rise, the terrace was closed until 10 and when we asked if we could go up we were told no. After a great trip this place proved to be a complete waste of money which was a big shame as every where else we had stayed was so lovely.
The best thing about the hotel is its location. It is very close to Puerta de Sol and in a happening locale, right in the heart of the city. The price is very much justified. The hotel ambiance has a perfect statement to make which go well with a European styled boutique hotels. The floors are well decorated with colorful wallpapers which is a bonus for the guest. The rooms are not so big but enough for a couple to have a cozy stay with window towards the busy street of Madrid (I'm sure you do not want to go Madrid for a quite vacation). The special mention is definitely the staff. I love their attitude and hospitality. Both the girls are awesome and manage the whole work in a very nice way (I have also seen the big hotels of Madrid and the huge time they take to handle a single guest). NEVER forget to visit the rooftop. It is another benefit of staying there. You can have a great panoramic view of the city and it is well decorated where you can have a good time with your friends and family. I wish I can spend few more days there.
While the room is small it is adequate considering 90% of our time was spent outside the hotel. The room was clean with a good air conditioner and great view. The major bonus is the rooftop terrace located on the 9th floor with a panoramic view of Madrid. Beautiful! Great central location right across the street from the metro station and a short 2-4 minute walk to the Plaza del Sol. Lots of great local shopping and restaurants just a few minutes walk away.
We stayed for 3 nights in late May. The room was clean but small and faced Montera. Lots of action late into the night on Montera so had to keep the windows closed. There is a wonderful rooftop patio with lounge chairs and tables. There is no food service at the hotel but tea, coffee and water are provided in the large lounge area at reception. The front desk staff were excellent, spoke good English and were very helpful.
Great hotel, in a very lively and central location with client attention. Nice room (but avoid the single ones) and great rooftop with a 360 view over Madrid. You can walk to almost everywhere (métro).
We booked a room at this hotel for 6 nights. We made the reservation well in advance (a few months). It averaged out at 140 euros per night, with wide swings in price from 238 euros for a weekend night to only 99 euros per night for a weekday stay. 75 euros/night is probably the price a regular American would feel they're getting the value they paid for. The hotel is conveniently located and the bathrooms are clean. The room we paid for (please see above) - standard/interior felt like very "bare bones": no table, no desk, just a shelving unit and some hangers. And most important: no mini fridge and no minibar. Traveling in June with temperatures of 80F and not being able to bring and store a cold beverage in your room, score very low in my book. The room feels claustrophobically small - probably less than 200 sq feet, but has high ceilings to compensate for it. The night stands are stylish, but with little functionality - no drawers in a room that's in bad need for more storage options. We will have to make do for now, but if you pay more than 75 euros per night, make sure you get a room with a view, a table and a desk, otherwise you'll feel extremely ripped off.
