The hotel is Ok, even I expected better standard of the rooms. Reception OK, restaurant staff excellent, breakfast very good. I stayed there only one night, and thet was optimal for me. But for the longer stay, the City center is not close, Metro station is on the walking distance.
The hotel is situated a little far from the airport. Taxi is expensive. If you are on a tight budget, prefer to take public transport. Bus stop is right behind the hotel. Breakfast menu is having a lot many options. Best experience..!!
Didn't really have an option when booking this property as it was part of a package with Gate1 Travel. Would definitely choose a different hotel next time in Madrid. Our first problem was that the room we were given had a strong smell of cigarette smoke. We tried to open the window but the handle to do so was missing. We called the front desk and noted there was a sign on the inside of the room door about it being a smoking room, asked to be moved to a non-smoking room. The employee indicated that the sign was old and it was now a non-smoking hotel. They really should remove the sign immediately as it is confusing to guests and I can totally see a smoker lighting up in the room as a result. For some reason the front desk did not wish to change our room and instead send someone to open our window with a wrench. They also indicated that they would use a machine to help remove the odor after we stepped out in the evening for dinner. When we came back that night the smell was indeed better and we were able to remain in the room for the rest of our three night stay. However I still wonder why they didn't just move us to a different room. It made me wonder if all the rooms have such a smell? Aside from the smell of smoke, the room was rather run down overall. The carpet was dirty and the sofa had seen better days. The bed also squeaked very loudly. The bathroom was quite large though and worked well. We were only on the fourth floor but yet still had a nice view of some of Madrid's skyscrapers in the distance (north facing room). The hotel was extremely busy and there were constantly people in the lobby, elevators and bar area. Having only two elevators was not sufficient for the size of the building and quantity of guests. One high point was breakfast. It was excellent. Very nice dining room and a large selection of items. The churros and torta were highlights. Both of the greeters we encountered for breakfast that checked your room number were outstandingly friendly and should be commended. However, this leaves me with my biggest complaint about this hotel - its location. It is right off a motorway, a good distance from central Madrid. Plan on spending at least 45 minutes getting downtown via public transportation. Note that it is at least a 10 minute walk to the nearest metro. Much closer is the number 53 bus that stops right outside the hotel. It runs directly to central Madrid (no transfer) but makes many stops en route and is rather crowded and slow. Note that google transit seems to overstate the time on the bus by a bit so if you are planning your journey using google maps, note that it should be quicker than what google says. Another option to speed up the journey is to take the 53 bus only to Ventas metro which is on the handy #4 line. Note that the closest stops to the hotel are on the rather inconvenient #7 line which means to get downtown you will have to transfer at least once. Taking a taxi is another option which we used coming back but it's at least 15 euros from downtown with no traffic. Note that finding a taxi from the hotel is not simple as there is really nothing nearby except residential buildings. We had some difficulty in getting a taxi on departure day to go to the airport. Overall, I'd choose a better located hotel that is more fresh. I was honestly surprised how many people were staying here, far off from all of Madrid's attractions.
In transit from Andalusia to Paris, I have spent one night in this Novotel in Madrid. Hotel is clean, the team is nice and efficient. The rooms have a good configuration that I guess is recent. No noise during the night even though the hotel is closed to a highway. A good place to stay on the way to Madrid Airport.
Stayed at Novotel during my visit to Madrid. The staff is very polite and helpful. The location of the hotel is very good. You can find the bus stop right at the back side of the hotel. There is a cornucopia of breakfast options. The lady at the breakfast desk is very sweet and greeted everyone very well. I will surely return here again in near future.
Stayed as part of tour package. Good sized room. Air conditioning still set to heat only mode on main unit so temperature control could not be set in rooms. Window was locked but called reception & they unlocked it. However road noise from nearby motorway meant we had to close it to get to sleep. Breakfast was good. Plenty of selection to choose from. The only thing I didn’t like was the red lighting over the hot food selection, it made it hard to see exactly what the food was. A clear white light would be better.
Travel on a Budget Side, so for the price we paid I believe every thing was good. Bedroom standard but very clean and user friendly. Breakfast was included and it did the job. The Highlight of this hotel is the staff working there, from the reception to the breakfast lady to the cleaner. They are all so helpful and happy go lucky. We were four with young children 7 & 4 Years old and the tube station is not too far. 10 minutes walk for little feet. We also used Uber to and from the Airport €20.00 more or less and sometime into town. Always really efficient. And if you want to eat nearby the hotel there is a really nice Italian restaurant, Spanish and even burger king all in walking distance.
Nice hotel close to the bus stop, metro and good food stores. It provides a very good breakfast, service is great, people were very nice. We use stores to buy water and food, we traveled on the bus to the center where you could go to museums and restaurants. We used metro transportation that is very nice and clean.
This hotel was a 30 min. bus ride from the city center. We stayed here as part of a package tour. The hotel was fine. The rooms were large but worn. The bathrooms were large and there was lots of storage/closet space. Our room was missing a safe. Breakfast was included which was sufficient, your typical European breakfast. The bar was always busy. What made this hotel a 4 rating instead of 3.5 were the staff. Everyone, from the front desk, to the hostess at breakfast, were the most pleasant and helpful people and their assistance, kindness and advice was greatly appreciated.
Our flight was cancelled and we could not call the hotel to let them know we wouldn't be there for the first night. We were afraid they would cancel the next 3 nights on us, but when we showed up the next day, there was no problem. Checked in at noon with efficiency and much friendliness by Joquin? I forgot to write his name down and not sure how to spell it, but he was an asset every day we were there. We were on the top floor and elevator was always quick. Heavy drapes blocked out 100% of light and except for the dim blinking light on the smoke detector, it was pitch black, just the way I like it. I had to get housekeeping to show me how to use the shower, but that was the only problem. Someone with more intelligence might figure it out. A one quarter mile walk to the metro and we could get to anywhere needed. Two free computers for use and only one time did I have to wait for my turn. Breakfast scrambled eggs were the best ever, but bacon is the European style which doesn't hold up to U.S. Two days I had the hot chocolate and I've never tasted anything so chocolaty. It tasted like a melted chocolate bar.
