As usual, I selected this great hotel for my regular business travel in Madrid. Thinking I must have spent 50 nights there and still getting the question "Is this your first stay here".... not proposed to select the floor I would prefer, this time again. Being too tired to choose, I ended up in the Japanese black too dark room.... twin bedded instead of requested double... and still no coffee and tea facilities you even get in an Ibis... room temperature was 26deg ! Do I get tired of this hotel or is the hotel getting tired ? Nevertheless, staff is wonderful, breakfast is great and wifi is indeed of premium quality. Plenty of amenities but why reducing towels quantity for the last night? The room was noisy facing the traffic. You can open the top window but then it is like staying on the street with the noise coming with it. Air conditioning could not reduce the room temperature below 24 deg. Had to travel back at 5 am for emergency at home but the hotel did not take away the *next* and last prepaid night. So I am somehow disappointed with this stay and will think again for my next trip. But do not misunderstand this, the hotel is still a great place to stay.
A versatile Congress space that we used for 150 delegates. We divided the space in a variety of ways to meet the mix of upfront and workshop style sessions. The unique design of the bedrooms on each floor adds an original feel to the event and made the delegates feel special. The staff were courteous and helpful at all times. It is just 20 Minutes from the airport but is not central to Madrid city centre
Great stay at the Silken puerta america. We spent 3 days with our little one and it was all perfect. The room they chose for us was the best one, with round borders and all soft and with no danger for our kid. It was spacious and very clean. The bed was really comfy and there was no noise. Amazing breakfast with gluten free options.
The hotel is pretty, each floor designed by a different architect. But they messed up our shuttle service from the airport. No shuttle turned up to collect us and had to phone the hotel. They said one was on it's way but it sounded like they had lost my booking. No shuttle arrived and I had to phone again. I tried to clarify where we should be waiting but they were clear. They told us we had been waiting in the wrong place, but we had been waiting where our email confirmation told us to wait. As far as we were concerned, we were in the right right place!
Outside city center but easy access thanks to metro station at walking distance. Close to the airport and free shuttle service! Hotel staff are very friendly people and they are so helpful! Breakfast buffet was awesome!!
Stunning hotel and a real gem outside of the bustle of the city centre. Each floor is decorated differently and you can chose your room when you arrive. Check in was very simple and staff were polite. The room was fantastic, no complaints at all. Breakfast was also very good. Did get a little busy but the staff managed it well and everything was kept topped up and fresh. The nearest metro stop is a 3 minute walk and it only takes about 10 minutes to get into the centre of Madrid, with a couple of changes. Now, room service! Tried to get it 2 nights of the 3 we stayed, once was successful although highly stressful and the 2nd time, just failed. The lady that picks up for room service really doesn't speak much English at all which was an issue for us to order. When reading things out she just said, finished, to which we had to go through different things until she said yes. So we did end up with food on the first night but the second night she just said finished and that was it. We finally said to her that it would be easier if she told us what was available but she just started shouting and the phone went dead. For the amount of money you have to pay to stay here, their room service really does need looking at. The rest of the stay was a joy and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back
I was here with my family, on last Easter. The hotel is very 'trendy', comfortable and Clean!! Rooms located at 3rd floor were large and equipped with all the comforts..the shower is fantastic! The personnel is extremly kind and helped in any need. We did not had the chance to test the restaurant, but breakfast was simply Perfect!!! The hotel is located 200 mt from the local metro, and we could reach all the amenities of Madrid in 15'. The hotel also has a perfect FREE shuttle bus to the airport and downtown.. just book it in advance.. Usually I am not used to express my enthusiasm, but this hotel deserve my sincere congratulations!!!!
on arrival the receptionist was rude to the point that her colleague had to take over from her. There was no guidance or advice on Madrid itself & you had to ask for a map. There was no warning of the glass lift for those afraid of heights & the room service food was delivered cold
If you love your architecture then you should stay here! I stayed on floor 6 (Marc Newson floor) and the room was what I would like my dream bedroom to be: quality materials but simple. The bed was insanely comfortable with practical lights and storage sections. The bath looked cool but if it was a jucuzzi it would be even better. There is an optional wall by the bath which quite honestly stayed closed as I don't think the closest of couples want to see or hear one another on the wc......So aesthetically Newson created a beautiful room but.............functionally,.....a few bits could have been better e.g. the full length mirror in the bathroom is obstructed by the bath and sink and it's the only mirror in the room, the wardrobe looks massive but isn't. The balcony is fake (probably not Newson's fault) but is teases you as you can't use it. I did a bit of research before choosing this hotel and was surprised to find that some websites suggest that the tennis courts are part of the hotel (definitely not). Some pictures make it look like all rooms have balconies (do any of them work? mine was a fake.) Things I really like about this hotel= 1)fantastic shuttle service to and from the airport (you must book this in advance). There is also a shuttle service to town I did not try. 2) Choosing your own room as you arrive from a tablet- quite a fun idea. 3) The night club at the top (had it virtually to myself, amazing music and views of the city). The drinks (cocktails) were good and we were given some sweets which was a nice touch. 4) Mostly polite staff throughout the hotel.Staff responded well to a few issues with the room which was resolved right away. 5) Location nearby an underground station and 20 minute walk from the bullfighting museum. 6). Bed on my room in floor 6 was amazingly comfortable and we slept really well. 7). The corridors on each floor are fun and attractive to look at. Things that could be easily enhanced to make this hotel a 5 out of 5 1) EXPAND THE GYM.......this small room is terrible.....5 machines ok but so cramped together..Weights not good enough. It feels uncomfortable and too hot and sticky in there if more than 4 people are in the room! 2) BALCONIES - I was so sad to see that the rooms look like they have a balcony but there is no door to open it so actually it's a fake balcony- this was a tease! I kept looking for a magical button to suddenly open it....haha.... 2b) OPEN AIR SPACES ON THE TOP FLOOR WOULD BE GOOD. It was 27 degrees the other day! Why is there no sun bathing space on the roof? So much wasted potential. 3) STAIRS AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO LIFTS WOULD BE GOOD- One of the cleaners left the doors open by the stairs so I took it and got locked in the emergency stair case. I had to walk from virtually the top of your building to the very bottom and out of the fire escape by the bottom bar because it was not possible for me to get back in at another floor. This was a little frightening. I didn't know how to tell your reception staff this in Spanish so I didn't pass on my complaint/ shock. Why do guests not have the option for stairs? Another review states a woman is scared of lifts?! Also, the lifts are not so great as they stopped dead and didn't move for a few minutes and I was temporarily stuck with another stranger! 4) COFFEE, TEA, DRESSING GOWNS AND SLIPPERS SHOULD BE INCLUDED in the room which I have found in every other 5 star hotel. I asked for a kettle and got it (which was very kind of you) only then I was too embarrassed to ask for coffee, tea and cups so really I shouldn't have asked as I could only have had hot water in a glass (which would have broken your glasses so I didn't use the kettle). 5) ROOM SERVICE COULD HAVE MORE SPANISH FOOD- I did room service twice. The first time was ok the second time was not good....Also, although your cocktails are good the bottles of wine sold are far more expensive than in your local Aldi...................I appreciate 5 star hotels are meant to be high quality and expensive but when you see the same products in the local supermarket for a fraction of the price you feel cheated for paying the higher rate. I think if dining options were more reasonably priced I (and many others from what I heard) would have utilized the dining on site more. You could do so much more with this hotel when you consider your clientele. You could have themed Spanish dinners (rather than selling flamenco elsewhere why not have your own?). If you did this and improved sunbathing spaces on the roof top with an open air pool, bigger gym and a snack bar by the pool. If you had balcony doors by rooms which opened and sorted out coffee and tea. If you had more sunbathing at the very bottom of the hotel with an extra pool perhaps....You could have an absolutely outstanding hotel..................................
A mixed review from me, although the majority of the staff were friendly there was one female on the front desk who needs to learn customer service, her arrogance was not impressive. However the hotel itself was in a very convenient location for the metro line to hop in and out of central Madrid, which was easy to work out. Unfortunately the swimming pool was on the 13th floor and nobody bothers to warn you it's a glass elevator with a view of the entire area, so if you don't like heights you have no chance to get to it, without clinging on for dear life with your eyes shut and saying a prayer at the same time. Luckily my room was on the 2nd floor so could just about cope with that. My British Ness kicked in as there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and not wanting to spent 27€ for one breakfast found me on a coffee hunt in the local area every morning. You need a degree in physics to work out the lighting system in the bedroom and it was sheer guesswork on our part on how to close the blackout shutter, again no one bothers to spend a couple of minutes to tell you. An ultra modern hotel not for a traditionalist like me
