Excellent for a budget weekend away. Location cannot be beaten. Rooms were clean and comfortable and all staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were nothing to write home about, but this only forced us to investigate local cafes which were reasonably priced. Our family would definitely recommend this to friends.

Just let booked through my agency for business purpose in Madrid. My impression is not hotel I expected, is hostel instead hotel. Room are small with portable room heater, and not really work. No heater at bathroom and found my bathroom are colled. Breakfast are very basic contain bread, tea/coffee and juices. Only 1 elevator, and minim staff incharge in evening time. You got key to enter your room, and other door need to open by another key to enter your floor, no key card system. Also there are some mis placement such as TV too high, rubbish bin in room , no kettle, mini bar and standard hotel facility. But you could not defeat for strategic location in Puerta del Sol, a stone throw from Metro and local rest near by.

READ THE REVIEWS PEOPLE......this is NOT a hotel but a hostal I've read some really odd reviews for this place. Do people not read the reviews prior to booking? We are a mature couple in our 50's and 70's and although this is not a hotel it served it's purpose for us. Check in was quick and easy on 4th floor with lift (our room was 5th floor no lift). (5 nights 29/9-3/10) Initial room (Double with private bathroom) was so small and could hardly move in the bathroom so the following day we asked to move to room next door as we could see it was much bigger. Room comfortable with vintage furniture (which I love) and was clean and comfortable. Walls very thin so you can hear your neighbours talking/moving around. Water in the shower did not drain well so was a bit yukky having a shower and standing in a pool of water. Bathroom spotless. Air conditioning was excellent. We had a roof terrace to enjoy the view below. Double glazed windows = no noise. Breakfast room a tight queeze but ok. Very basic but adequate breakfast - should you wish to have it. You could make toasted sandwiches, toast with jams etc, cornflakes, biscuits, juice, milk, tea, coffee - no gourmet breakfast but no complaints from us as we just wanted a hot drink and some toast. Staff helpful with limited English but with my Italian we managed. VERY happy with our choice as we were central to everything and I would overlook any shortcomings because of its location. Only really in the room to sleep anyway.

We booked this as a group and the main criteria was the location. For that, and the price we paid i have went for the 4 star rating. If it was anywhere else only then we are probably going between a 2 and 3 star rating. Location is hard to beat, walk out right into the centre of Spain!!! Apparently the Puerta del Sol is the centre of Spain and a main gathering point for local and tourists alike. You have pretty much all conceivable types of shops on your doorstep, Apple just opposite through to mini supermarkets and tourist goods. Parking is unavailable directly at the hotel but there are a couple of multi story car parks nearby and when i asked the doorman (i don't know exactly what his role was, probably like a property guardian as the hotel/hostel is in an old building with other apartments and a travel agent amongst others) he just said leave the motorbikes out on the street as there is so many police patrols and cameras that they are as safe there as anywhere else. True enough, 2 days later and all were still there and nothing even touched on them. Top advice and super friendly guy. Hotel is basic inside, but we were not here on a 5* hotel visit, we were here to visit Madrid and it was on our doorstep. In the day we had as tourists we did everything on foot and covered many places at either side of the central areas. If we went back then we know there are places we want to spend more time to visit but in that 1 day we covered a lot on foot. There is a bike hire place right outside the door as well but for the life of me i could not get this to work at several points in the city so not sure what i was doing wrong. Free breakfast at the hotel, luckily it is free as you would be asking for your money back. There are tons of places to eat as soon as you go out the door so if you are really on a tight budget then you have your free breakfast but if not then not even 1 minute from the front door are shops doing breakfasts that are really good. Would i stay here again, hmmmmm, if on my own or with wife then possibly if the budget was tight. As always with a price that seems to good to be true, there is always a reason for it so read up and make take your choice.

I stayed in 3 other hotels in Madrid over the course of 2 weeks and by far, this was the best value and most convenient location of all of them. Madrid is a very large city and this hotel is in the center of it all. Puerto del Sol is half a block away. It's hidden back so you think you've gone in the wrong place, but it's there, and it's safe and lovely.

I initially booked this weekend for my wife's 50th but got mixed up with the reviews for Puerto del Sol rooms which is a totally different place. So having booked to stay here I was fearing the worst! However, I needn't have worried. Having found it difficult to find at first we were eventually pointed in the right direction by a very nice Spanish man. On arrival we were greeted at reception by a lovely lady who showed us a map with various places to visit during our stay. The room itself was an internal room (no view of the square 😕) but was clean and functional. Air conditioning was a godsend with the outside temperature 37 degrees!!! Bathroom was compact but all anybody would need. Shower didn't look much but was very powerful and refreshing. Towels were changed daily if required. Breakfast was typical fare. Toast, toasted sandwiches, cereal which was self service. Altogether we were pleasantly surprised and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Don't go expecting any towel art and a fruit basket on the bed as a welcome because this ain't that type of place. If you want a clean functional place to base yourself at a very reasonable price then go for your life. Very central and within walking distance to most places. Madrid is also great!!

Just stayed here for 3 nights with my husband on our first trip to Madrid. Location was fantastic, we walked to it from the main train station having traveled up from Malaga, about 20 minute walk. Its also possible to take public transport from the airport as the metro stop is literally just on the main square in front of the building. We had a double room with private bathroom, it was very small and basic, however it was air conditioned which when the temperature was reaching 46 degrees was very welcome indeed! They provided breakfast which again was basic, but did the job. We wouldn't normally book somewhere like this, however reviews of location convinced me to give it a go and I'm glad we did. If you are looking for usual hotel facilities such as kettles / irons etc, then this isn't for you, but if you want a great central location with friendly and helpful staff then give this a try

Just got back from a long weekend here. The staff were excellent and very friendly. The place itself is basic, but very very clean. I was a bit worried about having to share a bathroom with other people but there are three bathrooms and I did not have to wait once. They are also cleaned very frequently because they were always spotless. The breakfast is simple but a nice touch, bread/toast ham and cheese with tea/coffee/orange juice and cereal if you fancy it. Literally slap bang in the middle of all the action! Will stay here again :)

Right in the centre of the main part of Madrid, they have WiFi on all floors, bit of a strange set up, you go to one door and ring the bell then we were upstairs which is through another main door but bed was comfy and shower was good. Sheets & towels smelled so so fresh. Unfortunately the walls are paper thin so once people start moving around early in the morning you will hear every sneeze. Brekkie room is a smidge small so any more than 10-12 people in there at the time and it's a squash to get your toast & tea!

This hostel is in an excellent location right in the centre of Madrid meaning that most sites are within walking distance. We booked a room with a private bathroom and this was simple, suiting our needs .Unfortunately the walls were a bit thin with other guests being loud late at night, but otherwise I would recommend this for good location on a budget.
