Espahotel Gran Via 65

We booked a couple of Studio and Suite rooms for only a night before heading out for a regional tour. The hotel is situated at a good location along the main Grand Via surrounded with lots of eateries and shopping. The metro station is a short few minutes away. Rooms came with separate sleeping and lounging areas with a small kitchenette and even a nesspresso. Everything was clean and beds were comfortable. One concern was the shower/tub area where the only handhold is the glass curtain which can be a little tricky when climbing out so do be careful. Unfortunately, our stay came with a couple of events. In one room, there was a blackout sometime in the early morning and the aircon failed in another room. The maintenance crew were unable to rectify things and could only provide a fan which resulted in a stuffy and warmish night’s sleep. Otherwise, the staff were pleasant and helpful and breakfast was a rather modest affair. Perhaps we were just unfortunate but a one star penalty is appropriate in our view. But at the price, it’s decent value.

Lovely room with tiny kitchenette as well. Breakfast was the best we had in Spain. Close to the metro, bit also within reasonable walking distance of many sights. Would have been nice if we could have an early check-in, as our plane landed at 06:00, but we understand that it would have been a favour.

We stayed 4 nights in 3 different times in October-November 2017, in our 10 day trip in Spain. Good luggage storage service after our first and second stay, so we could just take minimum stuff to visit other cities. It's on Gran Via so the bus stop is right in front and 2 metro stations are within 2 and 3 minutes walk. Our first room, 204, was the best with a little balcony with a fun view and a kitchenette. Restaurants and grocery stores are just hundred steps away. We did not eat at the hotel, so can't say; but I can say that the front desk guy, Alvaro (or Alberto) was super helpful in pointing out directions to interesting points and a very good restaurant for paella, about 15 to 20 minute walk away.

Espahotel was the perfect lodging to begin our trip. It is centrally located in Madrid' s Main Street, the Gran Via! The staff was very helpful and spoke passable English. Our room- more like a mini suite- had a great view and ... a kitchenette! Love it and will return when next in Madrid.

Stayed in room 201 facing road ,very comfortable clean and just above basis serviced daily during our stay ,breakfast only just ample poor replenishment let it down. Ideal location for palace just around corner. Retro park 45 min walk away." Alberto on reception excellent obliging and most helpful"

A relatively pleasant hotel, central location, clean and well equipped. the one thing that let this hotel was the breakfast. It was a scramble for access to the buffet breakfast. On occasions demand outweighed supply.the buffet was all squashed in one side .it was hot, noisy and crowded.

Whilst the room was OK and the servicing of the room was excellent the reception and breakfast left a lot to be desired. Breakfast in particular was a big let down with a lack of replenishment and the most awful watered down orange juice, yuk.

very centrally located on Gran Via, a major street in Madrid. lots of good restaurants, etc.. close by, subway station at the end of the block. room was small, but clean. front desk staff was friendly, we arrived at 8:30am and they allowed us to check in early at no charge since the room was already ready. it is certainly not a luxury hotel. but if you are, like me, and really don't spend much time in the room other than sleeping. it is a good choice.

Stayed four nights and went to front desk and received absolute poor service. I do not recommend this place to anyone. They practically ignore you. We will never go there again. We asked for directions and had to wait 45 minutes???

This Hotel is a good find in the City centre. Myself and two friends stayed for two nights on a trip to Madrid to watch Chelsea play Atletico in the Champions League. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room (we booked a triple room). It was spotlessly clean, the bathroom had a bath with shower over, all marble. A dining room for breakfast is available although breakfast was reasonably priced for a City centre hotel, with so many places to eat in the nearby area we declined. There is a Metro station (Plaza Espana) two minutes walk away with connections to all parts of the City. I would stay here again as this Hotel was very good value for money.
