This hotel is close to the pools so a very good location. The staff was friendly and the meals were good. The menu is a little limited but was tasty and filling. Breakfast was a little of a disappointment would have liked eggs and bacon but it still was good. The rooms are outdated but very clean. My only complaint was the smell of mold especially in the hallways. This is a old building and please do not get me wrong I would stay there again.
We visited for lunch whilst on a trip to Porto Moniz. The cooking was basic but very tasty. The soup was made with fresh vegetables and served with garlic bread. There was chicken, beef or scabbard fish and they all looked and tasted nice. Dessert was a custard tart and there was also water and red or white wine on the table.
On arrival our group were asked to wear bin liners on our boots before we had entered the reception. Not the best start and we would have preferred to have just been asked to remove our boots politely. Our boots were not muddy at all. Our room location faced out onto an abandoned building so no sea views for us. The staff appeared quite stressed in looking after us. The meal and quality of food in the restaurant was good and stunning views through the large windows.
Room was big, clean since it is near to ocean you can hear the ocean sound all night long. The breakfast was to much for me. Just 3 minutes walk to a small market with fresh fruits. WIFI is available only at reception and at restaurant. On my arrival I had to wait a few minutes till someone at reception show up
Residencial Sagueiro is very well located in Porto Moniz, few meters only from the really nice outdoor natural swimming pool. Rooms are pleasant and clean, with a balcony and breakfast is varied and copious. Wifi is available at the reception, but not in the room.
The location is perfect, is not far from the natural swimming pools and from a little supermarket. The bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Also the bathroom was pretty clean. Our room was turned to a building in construction... Apart from it, the staff wasn't nice at all during the breakfast. We think it's a bit too expensive for what it is but maybe it's one of the best options in Porto Moniz!
The room is nice and clean, the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant is delicious. The best seafood I have ever eaten. Furthermore the guests of the hotel get 10% discount from the price in the restaurant and in the shop downstairs. We really enjoyed our stay.
Booked in whilst visiting Porto Moniz on tour in Madeira. Liked it so much that we spent a second night there. Small modern and very well appointed family hotel in a good position. Plenty of restaurants nearby but all seem to offer exactly the same dishes, and hotel guests get 25% discount in the pleasant hotel restaurant, so why go anywhere else? We didn't, and found the food very enjoyable and a good selection of reasonably priced wines. Spacious sea view room with firm but comfortable bed, and balcony for sitting out. Street parking only and payment necessary from 11am to 7pm. Full of visiting coaches from mid-morning until late afternoon, but pleasantly quiet after that during our visit. Good variety continental breakfast (by Madeiran standards) and excellent.
This hotel located in the center of Porto Moniz, facing the ocean and famous volcanic pools, which is the main tourist attraction of this place. There are a lot of cafes, restaurants offered sea food, and shops. Hotel is very comfortable, with specious well furnished rooms and big bathrooms and balconies. Nice view to the ocean from terrace. Friendly and helpful staff, cozy lobby bar and restaurant. Highly recommended for stay in Porto Moniz.
Friendly & comfortable modern hotel in Porto Moniz, with great views of the sea if like us you can book first floor sea view rooms (we were really lucky - got the corner room with spectacular views two ways). The weather was really stormy the first evening and we saw spectacular waves and huge breakers crashing on the rocks only 30-40 metres away, then a calmer but beautiful bay view the next morning as the sun and blue sky appeared. Distinctly ordinary meals in the restaurant though - fish was frozen not fresh, & virtually nothing for vegetarians - though it looked as if there wasn't much else anywhere else in Porto Moniz on a quiet and wet evening in the off-season in early March. Breakfast the next morning was adequate but no better. Porto Moniz has a great location though, and in warmer weather we'd definitely want to try both sets of natural sea-water pools you can see from the hotel.
