Hotel Duas Torres

After a dodgy start, told our room would be ready by 13.30, but had to wait nearly another 2 hours, this hotel has been a nice surprise as we usually stay nearer Funchal town and were worried about trying somewhere new!! Some nice restaurants nearby and the Forum is very handy for supermarket shopping. One of the reviewers has mentioned washing up liquid was provided, um, not for us and the teatowel has not been changed since the second day, we are here for 11 days. However, cannot criticise the overall cleanliness, especially the pool area and as another reviewer has mentioned, the pool bar prices are VERY reasonable, 2 beers and a mojito for around 10 euros, good value. If you like a good cup of tea, bring your own mugs as only cups are provided in the kitchenettes, so not really big enough, that is only a minor criticism observation. Have paid extra for breakfast, but would not do so again as quite uninteresting and very little variation from day to day. Judging by the smells coming from the apartments and lack of guests in the breakfast room, it appears that most people feed themselves in the morning and we will definitely do the same next time. Yes, we will hopefully be back as have enjoyed the overall experience of self-catering for a change and as a whole, cannot in fairness criticise this hotel. Several people have though mentioned reception staff, they are fine, not very communicative and when we arrived, the receptionist was on the 'phone and didn't even acknowledge us being there, so perhaps a customer service course might be useful? But it has not spolt our stay!!

Although this hotel is situated quite some way from the centre of Funchal, if you like walking then the accommodation is worthwhile. Modern, light and airy rooms, based on studio living,i.e. A small kitchen area with m/wave, hot plate, sink and fridge. Large balcony and adequate sleeping area, with a well equipped shower and toilet. Very comfortable. Restaurant dining doubles as the breakfast room and is surprisingly good value.

We spent last week of may here and except few negatives it was perfect stay. It is about 25 minutes from airport. The location of Duas Torres is great, on a cliff with perfect view. Centrum of Funchal is maybe 50 minutes, but you can take taxi or bus. Close to hotel is shopping mall Forum (coffee, mcdonald, big supermarket etc..). //We got a ROOM with lateral sea view. The room is huge, so is the balcony. Kitchenete is sufficient, microwave, dishes, no kettle, but we boiled the water on electric stove. Tv, AC, sofa, couch, table. New bathrom but except soap there were no amenities. Every day clean towels (if you want). Pool towel is on the room, but you can change it once per week. As I said huge balcony, with sea view and pool view with seating. What I found not so good was part of the room ("bedroom"). We was there as husband and wife, hotel got this info, because we was there to celebrated our wedding anniversary (we got a bottle of champ. on the room - thanks a lot) and we got separated beds :D sorry...... but ehm... If you give us present you can't do such a mistake :) but we put beds together.... Beds are old, on wheels, it looks like in hospital, bad pillows :( this is one of cons.. Housekeeping everyday, good. //STAFF is.. how to say it. They were really helpful, but they were so unemotional and impersonal. Sometimes they didn't say hallo to you.. But ok, they were willing and helpful when we needed something. //SERVICE was ok, pool bar, restaurant, possibility to rent a car, parking, beautiful pool area with breathtaking view. Pool was cold, brr :) Perfect WIFI all around. The biggest cons is noise :( all day you can hear noise from renovation (hotel next door), from tennis court under your windows and in the evening music from restaurant (not everyday). Thank god we were almost every day on trips. And whole Funchal is under reconstruction so noise is everywhere. But we defintely recommend Duas Torres to stay, except some negatives, it was perfect holiday. Madeira is beautiful, stunning island <3

Went on a "cheapie" to Madeira and Duas Torres exceeded expectation for what we paid. It was exceptional value. We had a high floor with a great view over both sea and high hills. Room was well- equipped and was more like an apartment. Good sized balcony to catch the sun. Only marred by a whiff of drains, hopefully since sorted. Good breakfast.

we booked this hotel expecting it to be fairly basic but were very pleasantly surprised. the location was perfect with everything close by, shops, supermarket restaurants of all kinds, bus stop right outside the hotel. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the rooms very spacious, light and airy, with excellent views across the sea and land. The hotel has had a totally modern makeover with laminated floors in the rooms and duvets on the beds, and for tv addicts there were plenty of English channels. The staff were excellent and very accommodating. For a self catering aparthotel, the facilities were amazing. Shower gel and hand wash, washing up liquid and cloth, tea towel changed every day and a litre of bottled water supplied free of charge. free Wi-Fi, full maid service every day, didn't even have to get rid of our own rubbish. Pool excellent, Jacuzzi, sauna, Gym next door if you are that way inclined. Restaurant excellent and in fact the hotel bar prices were the cheapest we found. Would definitely go back.

Airbus drops you off right across the road from hotel stop19, 8 euros return, also the 19 bus stop out side the hotel bus 1&2 takes you to the centre in 10 mins.Hotel is across the road from Forum shopping centre which has a large supermarket which opens to 11pm each night, which is handy as the hotel rooms have a kitchenette.the staff are helpful and friendly, the outside pool is great as it looks right out to sea.would diffently go back.

Just spent a week in Duas Torres, very clean apartment, worth paying for the sea view, nice pool also jacuzzi and staff at pool bar very friendly. A charge of €1 per week each for kettle, toaster and coffee maker, felt these should be provided in a four star also €2.50 to use iron and ironing board! Hairdryer in bathroom is one of these fitted on wall contraptions, if you like a good one, bring your own. Stayed self catering but had meal on last evening in restaurant downstairs, lovely meal, professional staff but a bit noisy when bus tour of ladies arrived in all together. Great shopping centre across the road and bus stop and taxis also just outside including hop on hop off. You can walk promenade and beach path 5 km to Camerra de Lobos and 2 km in Funchal direction. Loads of good restaurants nearby and taxis reasonable to town. Would come back, great location.

Spent here one week in May 2017. Had a room in 9th floor with sea view. Great scenes! Very quiet hotel. Largest "normal" room I've visited. Breakfast was ok. Situated a few kilometres from Funchal central but it was ok to take a walk or bus to city. Big shopping centre just across the road. Would come again!

Had huge room facing the ocean last September over my birthday. Manager sent up bottle of bubbly for me. Large room with living area, kitchen and bedroom. Requested same room this visit. Extra cost for sea view is well worth it. TV has British channels. Convenient location opposite Forum shops for bus passes (upper floor) and Pingo Doce supermarket (lower floor). Bus stop close by. Airport bus (€5) stops outside. Will definitely be back!

Hotel has been modernised in 2014-15 I believe and is very tidy with good facilities, swimming pool, sun bathing beds with great view, jaccuzi and a sauna, Good pool bar as well with drinks and food. Hotel itself is a good 40mins walk (or 10 euros in a taxi which you can get just outside the hotel) from the old town where most of the good restaurants are located however there is a great restaurant just around the corner and the hotel restaurant of course. Irish bar great for Guinness and Football and big meals. We got Villa 1 which is the best right next to the cliff edge and with the best view but Villa 2-5 will also have a good view. Funchal itself although pricey is a great island. The Cable car and Toboggan run down the hill is a must. Reception staff were a big disorganised and unfriendly but that's pretty much the only negative. Good supermarket just across the road as well. Rained quite a bit in April but was still warm and we got a good tan in a week.
