Based on our seven night stay in March: Good points are; location, cleanliness, good shower and hairdryer in bathroom. Bad points are; noise, bed pillows filled with cut up bits of foam and ONE spare electrical socket only. Was only allowed one key card for room which made awkward if needed to go out separately and was made to give this to reception whenever you left the hotel. The supplied breakfast wasn’t to my taste, but then I am not a fan of continental breakfast. Our room was at the front of hotel and so we were subject to excessive noise due to the street outside which made it difficult to sleep. We were woken during the small hours on a few nights by rowdy teens part of a school party in the room next door. I was hopeful the hotel would throw them out, but sadly not. The supermarket next door was convenient. I wouldn’t stay here again due to the noise issue but the location is very good.

If you dream of a wonderful hotel with view on the sea in Madeira, don’t go there. If you need a very well centred hotel in this small city, it may be a good choice. In fact, nothing special, just a downtown hotel, with a good sized room, comfortable, modern bathroom and free WiFi, and a correct breakfast. So nothing of another world, but useful if it is what you need. Don’t expect the moon, and you will be satisfied and your wallet too

Nice, clean hotel with friendly staff. Right in the centre of town, so within walking distance of everything including the lido, cable cars and old town. Basic rooms and breakfast but had everything you'd need. The sister hotel across the street has a rooftop pool and bar which you are free to use.

The hotel is located in the centre of Funchal city. Walking distance to everything (e.g. the beaches, restaurants, shops, etc.) There is a supermarket next door to the hotel. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They also helped us set up guided tours of Maderia, which was fantastic. The room was basic and so was the breakfast but as we were out the majority of the day site seeing, that didn't matter much. Beds were comfortable to sleep in and the food they offered was good enough to start your day. I would recommend this hotel.

The staff on reception here were so friendly. Although the rooms and breakfast were basic, it accommodated for everything that we needed. The staff were happy to help to make our stay perfect, and gave us extra pillows etc. It is right next to a supermarket and the nearby shops.

GOOD Very central great location. Possible free parking at hotel a few doors away but not guaranteed. Only a few spaces so first come first get. Supermarket next door is handy. BAD Chopped up foam cube pillows were very strange. Thread bare towels. Terrible breakfast/ stale rolls. Basic. All served in a tiny windowless room. Ended up going to the cafe down the road.

Great location with elevator, friendly, helpful and informative staff; very clean, plenty of hot water and a very good shower; plentiful continental breakfast-delicious seeded rolls and interesting banana jam. Weird filling in pillows but to my surprise extremely comfortable. Would use this hotel again. Free and reliable wifi. Catherine

This hotel is a perfect base to get to all areas. A supermarket next door, Very handy. The only thing that was a negative were the beds. These were uncomfortable but you get used to them after a day. The breakfast was basic, Rolls, cheese, ham and cereal but set you up for the day.

The hotel is well positioned, right in the centre of Funchal and within easy reach of numerous good restaurants. The hotel is basic, room and bathroom was a good size but if you are expecting nice fluffy towels, forget it, but they were always nice and clean and changed daily. Room service has a lot to be desired as twice we had to ask for shower towels and on one occasion our room had not been made up. It was eventually after two phone calls and finally done at 5 pm. Breakfast is adequate, cereals and rolls with plastic ham and soapy cheese. Fruit juice, tea snd coffee available. Fresh fruit was available but did not look very appetising. Only on two occasions were there about 4 bananas but on another day tinned peaches, followed by the rest of the week with tinned fruit salad. If you want somewhere central, with a good supermarket right next door, and just somewhere to put you head down it's fine, but don't expect comfortable pillows, they are small, square and filled with lumpy foam. Also the mattresses have a lot to be desired with springs sticking through, I had to lay on the edge to enable me to sleep, not good.

Had this hotel forced us as a last minute replacement. Would not have chose it myself. In a very busy area. Staff are mostly good. Particular praise to receptionists Flavia and Sandra - who were always helpful and friendly. Rooms are adequate. Beds are very good - but pillows are terrible. Bathroom is good. All is cleaned daily. Balcony was about 2 sq metres onto a roof - which was barricaded off. Other side of hotel would be over a busy road - so probably worse. While we were there all water was turned off at least 5 times - for several hours at time. Also, we had 2 separate leaks from WC.
