Clarion Hotel Mackay Marina

Situated away from the town centre and as long as you ignore the oil/fuel storage tanks behind the hotel, the view over the marina and surrounding grounds is lovely. Our room was clean and roomy and the staff were keen to please. We ate at the bar beside the pool in the evening and enjoyed the meal and banter with the bar staff.

Quiet getaway luxury-out on the Mackay Marina with delightful ocean views over looking all the boats, close by a couple of nice restaurants and a bar. Love the Seafood Buffets too,a great place to meet with friends for dinner as we live 3 hours away it's a treat.

Wonderful place to stay with magnificent ocean and marina views. The bed was wonderfully comfortable for a good nights sleep. Nice bathroom, no dryer for hair though. Gated carpark. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, with many options to choose from.

After a Long several months of stress, I went to Mackay to Visit Some Clients and an Old mate from School. I booked at the Clarion and They were so nice, I had one of their Staff, who was in Town, pick me up at the Airport and from there my Weekend was Fabulous. The room was very comfortable, great views over Harbour, nice Bed, ( I love crisp fresh Sheets!). The only downer was the water Pressure which was a bit low, butu no great drama.

Hotel runs on minimal staff and the bar only opens periodically and not at all on Sundays. There are venues to eat and drink for more reasonable prices in the Marina district. Some staff were very helpful and happy but the rest seamed disillusioned with management and the way they are treated.

We had a one night stay at the Clarion to break up a long drive. The very friendly reception staff let us check in early and gave us a delightful room with stunning views. The hotel overlooks the marina, as you may have guessed by the name, and that provides a lovely area to walk. Its also adjacent to a small mall that houses a couple of good restaurants, see my other reviews. We took advantage of the small pool area, which was very relaxing on a hot afternoon.

We had a very pleasurable 2 night stay while driving north to Cairns. Our room on the 6th floor had a fabulous view of the marina. The room and the entire hotel and gardens are immaculately presented. In fact I don't think I have ever stayed in a hotel where the garden did not have a leaf of a blade of grass out of place. It is a short drive from the city but we found with the restaurants near by and the boardwalk there was no need to go elsewhere. The room was large, comfortable bed, dark at night and very quiet - all the things I need to have a good nights sleep. My only personal dislike was the shower over a bat. Woud highly recommend.

Very comfortable place to stop off if you are going north or south on the Bruce Highway. Modern building at new Marina which is a bit out of town. The facilities are fine and the staff are friendly and helpful. What makes the place stand out though is the food. There are a few restaurants at the nearby marina but we decided to have dinner in the hotel. What a great decision. The food was of a standard way above what you would expect in a hotel like this. It would grace the dining room of a big city five star hotel. Even if you don't stay in the hotel go for a meal. I would doubt that you will find better food anywhere in the Mackay area.

Our children gave us this weekend as a Christmas gift and it was one of the best ever. We had a magnificent view over the marina, took walks along the foreshore where we could choose from several different eating places. The rooms were immaculate and the service excellent. We went to the seafood buffet and it was amazing - fresh food kept coming out constantly and there were choices for any pallet. There was a range of meats other than seafood and the sweets were incredible. We will be back.

A comfortable hotel on the marina. This is a little isolated from the town but if you have car just a short car journey. We enjoyed walking around the marina and watching the activity in the harbour as ships were being loaded and unloaded. Very comfortable beds and lovely view
