Gday All We were on route to Paris for New Years and decided to stay at the Melia at short notice (I must admit I was trying to book at the Novotel to take advantage of my ACCOR & QANTAS memberships - see other REVIEW) because I could not book for my preference. The Melia is amazing and highly recommended. A little difficult to find the reception first time but once that’s managed then here is what is great about this hotel ..... staff were excellent, helpful and after a long drive took every detail into their hands to make things easy. It’s nice to see that when they recognise you do not speak the local language that they adapt and be extra helpful. The room was large modern clean fully appointed with a king bed and beautiful bathroom and views of Luxembourg over the river gorge and old town. Breakfast was very good and the waiting staff were looking to please. eg: they actually pour the coffee for you There is an exceptional sauna and relaxation centre which we were unable to use due to time constraints. Parking is available next door in controlled secured parking which I like. Seriously ..... I do not do this often but five stars easily and at the right price. And I don’t do this often either ..... my partner loved it too Thank you everyone at Melia Cheers Robbee
Conveniently located, helpful personnel, nice room with comfy bed, great buffet breakfast. This hotel was our base for a 2 day visit to cosy Luxembrug town which could be accessed easliy with public transport
We are traveling back to London from our wonderful trip to Prague and decided to make a stop for one night in Melia hotel in Luxemburg to explore the city. I regretted deeply about choosing this place. It is extremely unwelcoming place. Room is large but bland, with basic stuff, with no carpet or rags it looks empty and uncomfortable ...without character. It’s more likely a 3* but with 5* prices. 0.5 lt water costs €4.50 in the minibar. There is a very cold atmosphere in the entire hotel. In the room I have turned on aircon for 5h now but going into bed with pajamas and rob on. The hotel is in good 20’ walking distance from the city center. In a rainy and windy weather like today the walking is unpleasant. We had to take a cab to come back. Receptionist polite but it ends there. Everything here feels like a “dry toast” (I borrowed this expression from the movie “My big fat Greek wedding”)
The Melia was our choice this time and we picked it for its location. This hotel is located 1.5km from the city center and 10 minutes by bus. You can take either line 16 or line 1. If you get to the airport you can get these lines too and get off at the Philharmonic and Mudam stop. The hotel is right in between the city center and the airport. Nice atmosphere and excellent customer service with friendly staff and great views. Highly recommended!
Enjoyable stay, good quiet location with excellent public transport links, or a 20 min walk into the city. Very quiet at the weekend as this is largely a business area, this suited us just fine- check in/out process quick and friendly
Very good hostel: good reception and hospitality. Very clean. Room very quiet and very good quality of the bed. There is an access to a sauna inside. Room are big and the curtains are opaque. I slept very well.
I arrived at around midday, way ahead of the usual check-in time, and whilst my room wasn’t ready they expedited the cleaning and I only had to wait for around 30 minutes. I was very happy with my room, which had a view towards the city. It was modern and comfortable. I was fortunate to have to have access to ‘The Level’ and whilst I didn’t use it in the evening the afternoon tea was very good, with an excellent range of cakes and cookies. The lighting was more appropriate for the evening, than the afternoon, but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the sweet treats! The hotel is about a 20-30 minute walk from the city centre but is on the right side of the city for the short journey to the airport. A bus to the airport stops only a few minutes away. A very nice, modern hotel with friendly and helpful staff.
The room is roughly acceptable, but at the high price paid, you expect some service. Here is the whole story. I registered online, as invited after booking, claiming that I would be offered a coupon of 15€ on the bar or restaurant. When I arrived (Fast track was out of service, although I registered online), I booked a table at the restaurant at 8 PM. Then, I wanted to have a drink (6:30 PM). I was instructed to go to the restaurant (2d floor). There, I was rudely instructed that the restaurant was closed, and that I should go to the bar (ground floor). There, the barman told me that "I had not the proper level of room to get access to the bar", and that I could only have a drink in front of the desk. It took 15 minutes to get two glasses of wine. When I arrived at the restaurant, I was told that I had no reservation (unpolitely), and put at a table in the back. After 15 minutes without any service, we left. At 11PM in the night, I was waken up by a call from the barman, saying that I left my jacket at the bar. I knew it was not mine, but he insisted. I went down, to discover inside that the jacket ha a passeport inside, and that the barman simply did not check the name. When I explained things at checkout, the person could simply say that she was sorry. In short, they are plenty of good hotels in town for half the price I paid. the cost of a taxi is ten times worth the difference of price.
I was very pleased. I arrived at 11 am and got a room at no extra cost. The location was very convenient as I visited EU court, which is located within the walking distance. The staff was very helpful. Only thing is that I would appreciate a bit more comprehensive selection at mini bar
We had an unhelpful staff member who couldn't find our booking for several minutes. When we finally got to our room it was lovely and clean! As it was late at night we got room service which was not that nice and incredibly overpriced! The breakfast was okay but once again, overpriced.
