A Quiet Week Getaway on the Big Lake

Excellent hosts, great property, clean, quiet, private, great sunset views. Kept a window open at all times to hear the waves crashing below! Very likely to stay with this host again in the future.

        Beautiful lake side suite!

We very much enjoyed our stay in this suite. It's right on the lake. Perfect views! It's just fantastic! There is only one neighbor to the left. More on the right but you really don't notice them at all. Across the road is a national forest, I believe. So NO crowds anywhere. It's like being at home. The water was up while we were there but it really didn't matter. We had a small beach to layout/sit on. And when we wanted to take a walk, we just easily walked through the water to access a section of the beach that wasn't under water. I found so many beautiful rocks to bring home. The owners were so nice and I'm sure they would have helped us with any problem we may have had, but we never had any! I was more afraid of us leaving problems for them....like sand in the bathroom! There is a mini fridge and it works very well. Kept all our drinks nice and cold. There is also a toaster oven and small coffee maker. Do you know how nice it is to wake up in the morning, make coffee and take it outside to that fabulous table and just look out at the beautiful waters of Lake Michigan. Pure heaven! We were very comfortable the whole time we were there. Never felt hot or stuffy once. The bed was super comfortable. My son slept on the couch. He said it was fine but he liked the bed better. As far as only having a door to separate the suite from the owner's living space....that didn't bother us either. We heard them making food or whatever occasionally but really didn't even think anything of it. We were mostly outside or off on an adventure. Anyway, I would recommend this suite to anyone. You can't get any closer to the water than this and at a very fair price! This was one of my most favorite vacations by far! P.S....you should definitely check out Silver Lake Sand Dunes. It's about 45 mins. to an hour away but SO much fun!!

          Great Lake View!

Excellent view of the lake from the deck or window. Easy 5-10 minute drive to Manistee. There is a mini fridge and toaster oven inside. The inside is not new, but is fine. Bathroom has been updated.

            Very Disappointed

We didn't realize that the suite was connected to the house - only separated by a door connected to the kitchen (we could hear everything going on). We didn't realize that there was no beach - the stairs (which were not very safe) led right into the water - no beach or deck at the bottom. We didn't realize there would only be a small fridge and toaster oven - no kitchenette for cooking (not even a microwave). We were not aware that there was no air conditioning. The suite smelled old & musty, and there was an issue with the floor in front of the toilet (it was loose). We only stayed one night instead of two - neither of us slept because it was so hot & the fans jiggled - very noisy. The owners were kind people, but the place was not worth the amount charged and more information (along with pictures) should have been included in the description.
