despite that the real name of this Hotel is: Mercure Tagungs & Landhotel Krefeld, it is just another Mercure standard hotel. Accessibility is fine, a parking garage is offered. Although situated close to the motorway, this hotel is in the middle of a rural area and you get good sleeps here. The main building is made like an industrial hall, not my taste how they done it. Rooms are rather big in comparison to other hotels I have stayed in. One major negative thing is the bath room, offering a tub with a shower. When your mobility is decreased, you will find it difficult to get in, a rather high tub makes life not easy and no handles around to give support. The restaurant is nice, offering good food but you can walk to "Bella Napoli" which is approx 1000 mtrs around the corner (see review) When you want to have easy acces to enter a motorway and visit Cologne, Duesseldorf and other cities, you find this a good place
I was there for a week for business and greatly enjoyed my stay. The rooms were clean and minimal but dated. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good bar with friendly bartender. Restaurant was good but expensive.
The hotel is good if you are going for business and plan to stay on property for your meetings. The hotel is not located near anything and you will definitely need a car. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff are friendly and restaurant is ok - buffet.
Stayed for three nights and found this hotel very enjoyable. Warm welcome upon arrival and very smooth check-in. My room was very spacious, equipped with up to date amenities and seemed having been cleaned carefuly. Facing the back yard with garden and outdoor team building like equipment provided very nice 'green' view. Each morning I enjoyed rich breakfast with great selection of bread, cereals, cut cheese and ham/salami, veggies and much more. Restaurant personnel was very friendly, delivering tee or coffee on the table immediately. The only setback of my stay was the room location nearby lobby - actually just above the lobby. I could hear all the lobby noise, which was not very convenient in the morning when I would have preferred having a bit longer sleep. A room more remote from lobby would probably be quieter. Overall I enjoyed staying at Mercure in Krefeld.
If you choose this hotel you know why are you there. It can be to play golf or seminar which was case for me. Rooms are in general good, not the best beds ever but ok. Staff should work a little on their english skills and flexibility. Food was excellent however as we ware group, organisational wise, staff did not pay much attention and we ware waiting for food really long time. Seminar rooms are good. Bar has very good selection of beers so that was interesting to explore. Prices are maybe a bit high however maybe its just hotel trying to portrait fancy place. For 2-3 days seminar more then good. Privately, I would not chose it unless I play golf.
Nice hotel but I would only recommend to use for business. We upgraded to a 'privilege' room which gives high speed internet (though that was not high speed at peak times all the time) , a balcony that you can't sit on as it has just the tilting window and a free mini bar for 3 nights. Mini bar had mainly soft drinks and 2 beers. I did like that as I hate hotels charging exorbitant prices for water. There was also a nice coffee maker with the coffee pods, chocolate and potato crisps complimentary. Huge room. We were able to check in 4 hours early, nice. Downsides: Got a queen bed but they did this annoying thing of putting 2 single mattresses on a queen size base. I don't like that. The mattresses split in the night, rendering a hole in the middle of the bed so if you want a cuddle with your partner, forget it. Also, 1 single bed duvet cover each. Bed was not comfortable and the sheet came off at night exposing the mattress. The bathroom was fine. I would not recommend to anyone elderly or with even minor mobility problems. The shower is in the bath with no safety mat. I slipped twice getting out. The sides of the bath are quite high so you have to lift your leg up quite high, drop to the floor all while holding on to the side as your other foot is in the wet bath and as your other foot comes down on a slick tile floor. I slipped in the bath and on the tile so be careful and I'm quite fit. Also, the lobby and work area is all glass, it can get very hot. If you are afraid of heights, I wouldn't recommend the 2nd floor. It is open plan and I thought the glass safety rail was a little low. It just about came up to my waist. All in all, not bad, nice service but awful bed.
Quite nice hotel, but in the middle of nowhere if the main goal is tourism. Confortable rooms, big enough. Some amenities and minibar available. Quiet and peaceful surroundings. Good sleeping quality, and early served varied breakfast. Kind and professional staff.
This is a clean quiet hotel but it's a good distance outside Dusseldorf. Taxi fare from downtown can run you 75 euros so beware. Once your at the hotel they have a flat rate with Taxi's which is 45 to the Messe and 40 to the airport of course you have to get the taxi to honor the rate or they'll try to upcharge you. This was my experience both times. The biggest problem is that the tub entry is very high and the bottom is angled so you have to support yourself on the towel rack and towel holders on the back of the door to try not to slip and injure yourself. I do not think an infirm person would have any chance using this tub. The shower head holder was broken during my entire 8 night stay. So I just had to use the shower wand and wash with one hand. They give you one thin dry towel for the bath and it didn't smell fresh. There seemed to be no AC so I opened my window which you can get away with in May in Dusseldorf as it is cool enough. The prices in the minibar are fair. The breakfast is excellent and the restaurant on site is good. You can East in their bar as well for a more casual dinner. I'm not a complainer and you can check my other reviews as I give very fair reviews.
Spent an overnight here when this hotel was utilised by my company for a training course. Decent enough hotel for that purpose with comfortable enough amenities and good conference area on the floor below reception. The only disappointment on the facilities was that there is a small gym area but no swimming pool. The room was comfortable with the usual things you need for a business overnight with a comfortable bed and fair sized desk space, and any hotels that include a safe big enough to take a decent sized lap top gets a positive from me. The only problem I had was that the room air conditioning didn’t seem to do anything and I had to have the window open during the night to bring the room down to a cooler temperature. The breakfast and lunch service were good, as were the service levels overall. But the big issue with this hotel is its location as stated by others, it really is in the middle of nowhere. It’s a good 20 to 25 minute taxi journey from Dusseldorf airport (longer if your trying to get there in the evening rush hour as the 57 motorway is prone to traffic jams ) and costs around 50 Euro’s. And then when you get there it’s nowhere near the town of Krefeld. If you don’t want to eat in the hotel then there is a small village called Traar that you can walk to from the hotel in about 15 /20 minutes which has a couple of restaurants but it is a bit sleepyville… So , if you’re here for a meeting or to play golf at the club next door or really want the isolation and quiet then I guess it’s perfectly fine. But outside of that I can’t really think why you would choose this one if visiting Dusseldorf for another reason.
I stayed here with 2 friends during a recent motorbike tour. It was easy to get to and first impressions were good. There is parking which is chargeable at £10.00 euro per bike which I think is very expensive. Breakfast is available but rather dear at £20.00 euro each and the Brasserie was well over 25.00 euros each so these weren't taken up. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms nicely laid out and clean. All in all not bad. Just a shame about the rip off parking for motorcycles.
