I stayed here for 3 nights, and was allocated a room with a queen-sized bed, and facing the rear forest. There was a balcony with 2 chairs, which would have been perfect to sit out and have a beer and smoke during summer. I found the room to be very cramped due to the 2 sofa chairs and coffee table, in addition to the writing desk and TV cabinet. There was hardly any place to put up the luggage and walk around. Somehow I felt claustrophobic in the room. Breakfast was at the lower ground floor and accessible via a long flight of steps or there are 2 elevators for easier access. Food quality is pretty good and of a wide variety of cold meats, German sausages, vegetables, cheese and breads. There is also a coffee machine for drinkers of latte, milk coffee and cappuccino, Service by some of the Czech staff who hardly spoke English was quick and efficient and with a smile.

In Poland for this kind of hotel we are saying 2-stars. No air conditioning, empty mini bar, weird smell everywere. One day I coudn't chose meals from menu, but there was bufet like for some camp of seniors.Except this really nice sport centre with pools, sauna and gym.

Overall the hotel is nice and clean and the location is unbeatable. We spent 5 nights in July with Half Board (breakfast and dinner) included. We had a room overlooking the Mountains. Nevertheless we left with mixed feelings that it could have been so much better, but let me start with all the good things first. The food is very good, every morning a very large breakfast buffet with everything imaginable. Dinner is a mix of days with buffet and days with meals served at the table. There is also a childrens menu everyday. The staff at the reception and house keeping is very friendly and helpful. The pool area is very nice, both indoor and outdoor pool. Most activities are free, such as minigolf, bicycle rent, tennis etc. It was my wifes birthday during our visit, and when we got back to our room there was a bottle of wine from the hotel. Very nice. Then the not so good experiences that made us feel not so welcome. We were there in a period where it was very hot. The rooms and restaurant does not have any climate control so it was very hot when inside. There is a dress code in the restaurant for dinner, so men have to Wear long trousers. It felt really crazy that you could come in your old, worn out jeans but not in a pair of nice shorts. If we arrived 15 minutes past 6 all tables outside was taken so had to sit in a very hot retaurant in long trousers. This is a Family style place with a lot of children so this seems crazy. The staff in the restaurant was not as friendly as the rest of the hotel. The Wireless internet is very slow all over the hotel, both the rooms and public areas. The minigolf course and some of the areas around the outdoor pool is in big need of maintenance. We fell in love with the area and will for sure come back to the area but would problaly find another hotel next time.

We were there for a week, just got back today. Hotel has a super location, awesome if you like trekking tours or just a place to chill in the Bavarian Forest. The food was amazing and varied. The staff is helpful and very nice. Would defo go back there again for another trekking trip!

We had nothing to do the other weekend and decided to go somewhere not far from Prague to simply enjoy "a doing nothing experience". My favorite hotel near Munich was fully booked and I decided to go for this one as the very last option. Our expectations where very low but they were way exceeded at the end of the stay. The location of the hotel is so fabulous, view from the room was just fantastic. Arrival experience was just great, very smooth check in. This is a 4 star hotel so do not expect that someone would take care of your luggage, etc. We booked a family room (very expensive for such hotel in my opinion, it is about 370 euro per night...). Two connected rooms with a big balcony overlooking the mountains. No tea or coffee making machines which I found quite strange. But I heard you can order it from the reception, just not sure if it is included in the price of the accommodation. Breakfast and food in general are very good. I was very happy with the choice and with the way food is presented. Some local staff does not speak any English. This is very strange. I think hotel must provide some basic lessons to teach some English even if 99% of the guests are Germans. Fortunately we speak Czech and many waiters are Czechs. But I can imagine some big problems if you are coming from non-German speaking country. Menu is completely in German and local staff can not tell you what is what in any language but German. I had to use a translate software on my cellphone if no Czech or English speaking staff was available to help. Housekeeping is something what needs improvement. I think management needs to look at it asap and review their standards. Spa and sauna's area is so great that we spent the whole one day there swimming in the outdoor pool as well as a few indoor ones. There is a very convenient spa bar with snacks and different drinks and service was very good. All in one this was a great experience and we will be back many times as the hotel is just over one hour drive from Prague.

Nicely located on a slope it makes a good touring base. If you are in to it, you may find a SPA and wellness items at your disposal (I used myself the indoor pool) Free good working WLAN. Sumptuous breakfast (inclusive Bavarian weisswurst) and very accommodating rooms. The cuisine is burgeoise with room for improvement (saturating and good portion size to refill after outings).

This is by far the best hotel I have ever been on. The food was fantastic, the rooms was excellent, facilities for all members of the family(5 to 42 years) and a very kind and serviceminded hotel crew. Definately a place I will go back to..

We stayed here in summer 2006. It is actually in Bavaria rather than Hesse. The hotel is modern, but is cosy with attractive and tasteful decor. We stayed on an all-inclusive family package deal which was so generous we could hardly believe our luck. It even included sparkling wine and chocolate from the minibar. The food was high quality and well presented. There were plenty of sports facilities including a modest gym, a nice-looking indoor tennis court and outdoor tennis as well. The swimming pool is possibly the best part of the hotel - three pools and nice seating areas, with a large wellness area. On Thursday nights they light it with candles for 'moonlight swimming', which is very romantic. The hairdressing and beauty therapy are reasonably priced and completent, and the hairdresser in particular is lovely, and great with kids. You can also have professional physiotherapy there, which I can recommend highly. The childcare was in a lovely room, but like so many Steigenberger Hotels, seemed to be run to suit the preferences of the playleader in charge, opening for different hours each day. She was a very kind and sweet lady who did a lot of art with the children, but it was too limited for our energetic boys, and in the end she put them into the indoor tennis court area to burn off a bit of steam. I wasn't entirely happy about this when I found out about it, as they were largely unsupervised, and there was a big trampoline in there without a safety net around it, so knowing our two, they were lucky not to break a limb. However my husband thought I was being paranoid. I would say the childcare is best suited to children between 4 and 8, preferably female. Overall I thought the hotel was pretty good, but I would say that I was put off by one main thing - the service was very old-fashioned and tardy at meals and we often waited 45+ minutes before our order was taken, unlike other guests. We were also given the most indifferent tables by the maitre d' each time, and when we asked nicely whether a window table might be possible one night, we were told they had all been pre-booked for the next fortnight. However when we eventually got fed up of the terrible service and complained, we were told this was not true, but they still didn't do much about it. I found that annoying. My husband pointed out to me later that no families with children ever got to sit near the window. The local town had a reasonable number of shops, but was a bit limited on the coffee and cake front, and dated generally, so I think in future I'll go back to South Bavaria with the family.

Sehr gerne wieder.
