It was a pleasant hotel for the price. Right in the heart of Lourdes within walking distance to all the main sights. The reception staff were helpful even with our zero French, they tried to help us with getting around as best they could. The room was clean and spacious- we had a triple room. Would stay there again if visiting Lourdes.
We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed overall. Stayed on 1st floor and walls a little thin so there was a bit of noise coming from downstairs when setting for breakfast and also from other adjacent guest rooms but nothing too significant. The breakfast at 6 Euro was convenient but you have to understand Fred. He really has the look, but if you treat him respectfully he will do the same for you. Yes, after the first breakfast the orange juice was somewhat "diluted". But we left our half full glasses of coloured water on the table and next day juice back to full strength. The bread sticks at 10cm per person are somewhat meagre but, as Fred commented to other grumblers, just ask for more. He always did so each morning we asked. The coffee is strong and, usually, hot. Give the hot chocolate a pass if you are a fan. The rooms were clean, the shower hot and we had just enough room to swing a cat. The bathroom was big. Dorita and Fred we found to be very helpful. Good stairs and elevator. We found the best value budget eating were the two restarants just down the street on the same side. Do checkout the markets while in Lourdes. Great laundry nearby at Laverie Automatique (55 Rue de Bourg). 6.20 Euro for the bigger machine and three cycles of 10mins fixed (1 Euro each) for the dryer. Make sure you get front loader powder from the supermarket first (10 mins walk if you forget).
Look - this ain't a 5 star hotel. But for what it is, and what it costs, it is a 4/5 rating from me. The internet is fast and free - no issues at all during the two night stay. The heating worked well - however no A/C may be an issue in summer. Twin room, not the greatest bed but I have had worse - and worse beds paying a far higher price! Functional shower with good water pressure. Multi-lingual front desk with polite service - we were able to negotiate a discountd direct deal when using compatible website. 1740
Overall pleased with the hotel, it's a great central location and the room was large with a nice balcony which doesn't have enough room to sit on but is nice to stand and look out from. The bathroom was very nice, good shower, plenty of towels. The hotel staff were friendly, offered to store luggage, let us check in early and were overall very accommodating. The food choices are limited but they offer drinks from the bar and a basic breakfast. Wi-fi is strong throughout. Only criticism would be that the bed was slightly strange as it slanted towards one side which was odd. Also, heating didn't work at first but this was ok as was rectified quickly.
Stayed at the hotel. Some problems with this hotel. No warnings the floor unleveled after stepped off from the elevator and step down ( due to dark at first till lights on)4th floor. Shower caused all wet whole uneven floor. No rail support in bath room. Unsafe for any guest ages. Front desk representatives were very cold shoulders to me whenever I asked and checked in and out. Lacked of helpful. No explanation about the dining room if they will serve food or what. Very lacked information from this hotel. Lobby room so cold look by they set all chairs around the room/walls like in conference without table. Uncomfortable when sat there and felt so weird.
The hotel is very close to the basilica - only 5 minutes walk. Rooms are clean but when it comes to breakfast, it leaves a lot to be desires......literally :-( They only service a croissant plus a 10 centimetre piece of a bread-roll in addition to the tea or coffee!!!!! Another disappointment is the fact that non one speaks English at the hotel and therefore we could not communicate with the hotel reception. This is really a shame for the proud French whop keep insisting that their language should be ok for visitors instead of vice-versa.
The hotel is about 10 mins walk from the Lourdes metro station. But bit hard to find for a first time visitor better call the facility when you reach the station. Location vice its on the same way to sanctuaries notre-Dame de Lourdes it's about 5 mins walk from the hotel. There are Italian and Indian restaurants either side of the road.staff are friendly but find difficult to speak English Facilities are really poor even the beds not that comfortable can be accepted as a shelter for a pilgrimage And there was no acceptance for a late check out they wanted the room by 11am sharp
We stayed in the Saint Etienne from the 27th May until the 3rd June 2016. We could not have had a better time if we'd tried. The rooms were perfect, the staff could not have been more helpful, the food was very, very good. The price is perfect too. The hotel is situated about 300 metres from the entrance (Saint Michael's Gate) to the sanctuary. The Maison Paternelle is 20 metres from the hotel (Turn right leaving the front door). The Boly Mill where St. Bernadette was born is just further down the same little street. The Cachot, where the family moved to is about 400 to 600 metres from the hotel, so all in all everything is virtually in walking distance from the hotel.
Only a few hundred meters from the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes and the spring. In the middle of the city, the location could not be much better. When I arrived in the hotel, the guy in the night shift could not speak a word English, but luckily he understood Spanish. If you use car navigator to find the hotel, you might not find the place very easily. The street is L-shaped and if you and up to the "wrong" end of the street, getting to the hotel is quite difficult. The street is one-way and finding the way to the other end is a PIA. Parking places are a big problem. Pet friendly, non-smoking hotel.
Good location of the hotel. Very near to the train station and the Grotto. 12 minutes by coach from Tarbes Airport. People in the Hotel are polite and helpful. Clean and tidy. Many restaurants around and when you go up to the Town Hall, there is a big Supermarket as well.
