This hotel is located at the top of a hill with elevator access. It is a short walk to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, so it is perfect for pilgrims. The room that we stayed in is in the 4th floor and had a partial view of the town. The room was adequate in size with a huge bathroom. For the size of the bathroom, I was expecting a bathtub but it was only equipped with a small shower space. The amenities are basic but adequate. We went there for a pilgrimage and it was able to accommodate all 56 of us. We had a 4-course dinner (soup, salad, main course and dessert) for the 2 nights we were there. I don't know if we had to pay extra for the dinner. Breakfast was included. Food was okay. We had to leave early on our departure date and they packed us some breakfast-to-go which included croissant, butter, jam/jelly, apple sauce, orange juice and water. If we had stayed for breakfast, we would also have some cold cuts and egg. The manager looked overwhelmed when we arrived but he was nice. The wait staff were accommodating.
We were a large group and were looked after superbly by a v friendly staff. The meals were v good and always on time and served with a smile, two three course meals a day and continental breakfast. The small bar catered for all our needs even unto the small were hours! Would most definitely use here again.
I've been to this Hotel twice, it's OK for families and pilgrimage groups. The staff are friendly, the food is 'production line' (it is a budget hotel). In the pilgrimage season it is very noisy, especially when there are many schoolchildren there. However, it not a great distance from St Joseph's gate at the entrance of the domain. I use the hotel as a place to sleep and eat, the Pilgrimage to this lovely place is more important.
Checked their website which states secure parking ... What that means is there is a camera monitoring the car park which is on street. We arrived by motorcycle up a very steep gradient covered in gravel and NO secure parking! Be warned if you come by bike, staff are surly when approached over anything and unhelpful. Pay your money and take your chances!!!
The Liseux Hotel is a friendly hotel, the staff are very helpful. The hotel is clean and the beds are very comfortable. There was a sign to hang on the door if you didn't want to be disturbed. The food was excellent and individual food needs are catered for. The rooms were quiet on the third floor and the bathroom was clean. Towels were changed every day even if you didn't ask for them. There are two lounges that are very comfortable, with a bar which also served tea and coffee. There is also a television in the lounge. A small shop with reasonably priced articles is in the Foyer. The Hotel is on a hill but outside there is a lift to help wheel chairs and people gain easy access to the Hotel. The Hotel is very near to the Grotto and the Town. There are no tea making facilities in the rooms and guests are advised to take a travel kettle.
A mixed bag this one: The walls between the rooms were the thinnest I have ever encountered anywhere in the world. They were so thin, I could even hear next door flicking the cap on the tooth-paste, all converstations and toilet related noises. Dreadful. The maids were also very unprofessional. For two consecutive mornings, they entered our room at 08:30 without knocking! We had to resort to blockading the door with furniture to force them not to enter. After a complaint to management, they eventually behaved properly and started knocking. The above reasons would normally yield 1 star from me, but it's getting more because the rooms are genuinely clean, the location is excellent, the parking is free and there was always a space available, the rooms are large by Lourdes standards and I was very impressed by their no nonsense, no deposit, no beaurocracy approach to wheelchair borrowing. Aside from the maids, the staff were most pleasant and professional. If you go off peak, when it's unlikely you would have a neighbour, then this hotel would be a very good choice.
